Padmini Kolhapure to return to Marathi films after 14 years
Having won the Filmfare award at a very young age, Padmini Kolhapure had a very successful career in Bollywood as a big star during 80s and 90s. For ‘Insaf Ka Taraju‘ she won the best supporting actress award in 1981, while for ‘Prem Rog‘ she won the best actress Filmfare award, which was a big achievement. Padmini made her debut in Marathi films through ‘Chimni Pakhara‘ which was a hit film and also won her many popular awards. She is now doing Ashutosh Gowarikar’s next Hindi film ‘panipat‘ in lead role. But, at the same time she is returning to Marathi cinema, in lead role through Shashank Udapurkar’s next film ‘Pravas‘.
Padmini’s journey as an actress began as a child actress through the film ‘Ek Khiladi Bawan Patte‘ and thereafter she has not looked back. With films like ‘Ishq Ishq Ishq’, ‘Zindagi’, ‘Dream Girl’,’Sajan Bina Suhagan’, ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ and others, she soon matured into a young beautiful actress to perform in lead roles opposite big Bollywood actors like Mithun Chakraborty, Rishi kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Raj Babbar, Jitendra, Kumar Gaurav and others in several films. Few years ago, She also played Shahid kapoor’s mother in the film ‘Fata Poster Nikla hero‘. But besides acting with the help of her husband Tutu Sharma, she continues to produce Hindi, Marathi and other regional language films. In forthcoming Marathi film ‘Prawaas‘ Padmini is playing a totally different kind of lead role opposite Ashok Saraf and the shooting of this film is in progress at present.
