Vidya Balan was star attraction during launch of ‘Ekk Albela’ song
Manglmurti Films, Kimaya Motion Pictures, Dr Monish Babre and director Shekhar Sartandel recently launched their film ‘Ekk Albela‘s iconic song ‘Shola Jo Bhadke‘ in presence of Vidya Balan. We are all aware that ‘Ekk Albela‘ is a biopic on India’s first dancing and action hero Bhagwan Dada and his extraordinary journey, as he went out to become one of the biggest legends of Hindi cinema.
Directed by Shekhar Sartandel, ‘Ekk Albela‘ a features award winning versatile actor Mangesh Desai as Bhagwan Dada and the charming Vidya Balan portraying the role of renowned yesteryear’s actress Geeta Bali, in her debut Marathi film.
The most popular song ‘Shola Jo Bhadke‘ which featured in the Bhagwan Dada-Geeta Bali starrer Albela (1951) has been recreated in ‘Ekk Albela‘. And, this song was launched by Vidya Balan, in presence of Mangesh Desai, director Shekhar Sartandel, producers Sangeeta Ahir, Krrish Ahir and producer Dr Monish Babre.
During this gala event , Vidya not only surprised the invitees & media persons with that typical Geeta Bali’s get up, but also performed on this popular song, along with her co-star Mangesh Desai. This Marathi film explores the era between 1930 to 1951 has several dialogues in Hindi and two Hindi songs from the original film ‘Albela‘, including ‘Shola Jo Bhadke‘ and ‘Bholi Surat Dil Ke Khote‘.
Speaking on the occasion, Vidya Balan said, “I’ve been brought up in Mumbai and well-versed with the Maharashtrian culture. ‘Mee Mumbai chi laadki mulgi aahe!’ When the makers approached me with the idea of recreating Albela, I instantly agreed to do it. There couldn’t have been a better debut Marathi film than Ekk Albela.”
Mangesh Desai expressed , “Bhagwan Dada was the first Marathi actor who made it big in Bollywood. He was an artist par excellence. To play Bhagwan Dada in the right way was a huge responsibility. I’m thankful to the producers who believed in me and the fact that I can pull it off.”
‘Ekk Albela‘ is all set to releases on 24th June, 2016.
