Makarand Deshpande was born in Dahanu, Maharashtra. He started his debut with hindi film ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak‘. Along with acting he also worked as director, screenwriter, playwrighter . He also performed role in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam along with Marathi films. Makrand was a well-known character actor of Bollywood films like ‘Makdee’, ‘Jungle’, ‘Swades’, ‘Sarfarosh’, ‘Darna Zaroori Hain’ and ‘Guzarish‘ among others. He is married to writer Nivedita Pohankar.
