Are some Marathi film makers avoiding the press shows?
It looks like that some Marathi film makers have set a new trend of not holding press shows before their film’s release, for the reasons best known to them. Some film makers combine the press show and premiere on the day before the film’s release or on the first day of the show. In such cases, how is it possible to publish the reviews in time ? This week, a PRO of the film ’66 Sadashiv’ clearly mentioned to all film critics that there will not be any press show of this film, perhaps to avoid repeated inquiries.
To confirm, whether the other two films releasing simultaneously, had also avoided press shows, MMW spoke to a senior film journalist, who confirmed that he had not received invite for the press show from these two film makers also.
By the way, besides ’66 Sadashiv’ written and directed by Yogesh Deshpande, two other Marathi films which are also lined up for release on coming Friday are, Ek Hota Pani directed by Rohan Satghare and and Reema Amrapurkar directed ‘Purushottam’.
’66 Sadashiv’ looks like a family entertainer, from its film’s poster, while ‘Ek Hota Pani’ is clearly about the most important social issue, i.e. conservation of water. ‘Purushottam’ is based on the work done by Dr. Purushottam Bhapkar and so can be termed as a biopic.
