Today Lata Didi (legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar) is not amongst us, but her songs will always remain close to our hearts. Watching and reading the tributes paid by many people on social media is the best example of the kind of impact her voice had on music lovers over the years. Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar passed away
Legendary singer, Bharat rantra Lata Mangeshkar, popularly known as Sangeet Swarsamradni (संगीत स्वरसम्राज्ञी ) Latadidid, has passed away today. She was 92 years old. She has been undergoing treatment at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for the past few days.
Lata Mangeshkar was infected with corona on January 8. She was experiencing mild symptoms of coronary heart disease. She was also diagnosed with pneumonia. She was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital for treatment. She was admitted to the ICU. He was taken out of the ventilator on January 28 after her condition started improving. However, on 5th February, due to ill health, She was put on ventilator again. But during the treatment, she lost her life.
Her voice which has been pouring rain on the minds of Indians for more than eight decades. Mourning has spread everywhere due to the demise of Latadidi. Heartfelt tributes are being paid to her from all levels, from the President to the Prime Minister.

‘Lata Shruti Sanvaad’ book Cover unveiled on her birthday

There are many books written on this Nightingale of India, but now Ajay Deshpande will be presenting his book on Lata Mangeshkar which will focus on her Hindustani classical songs from films, which have found place in the hearts of the Indian audience. The book suitably titled Lata Shruti Sanvaad’ will cover her songs based on classical bandish, Bhajan, Tarana , Dadraa, Lori, Thumri mujara and Ghazal with detailed analysis .

Savaniee Ravindrra to salute Late Mangeshkar through her musical programme
Renowned Marathi singer Savaniee Ravindrra has recently launched her new musical programme ‘Didi’ in Mumbai which is like saluting legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. Savaniee has herself presented the concept of this show and sings Lala Mangeshkar’s selected 30 songs with anchoring done by Pushkar Shrotri.
It may be recalled that in the past Savaniee had presented a musical programme ‘Latasha’ based on the songs of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosale , which had expert comments by Hridaynath Mangeshkar . Now, with this new presentation on Lata Mangeshkar Savaniee has been receiving good response in Mumbai after winning the hearts of audience in Pune.
Speaking about this concept, Savaniee says, “In the recent past we celebrated the 90th birthday of the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and therefore I thought of saluting her long career with this presentation from me. And I am glad that there is overwhelming response from the audience in Pune and Mumbai.”
‘Andya Cha Funda’ receives blessings from Nightingale of India Lata Didi
We are all aware of the famous dialogue from the popular TV serial ‘CID‘. But, did you know that the Nightingale of India Lata Didi is also a great fan of this serial? So, when the writer –director of this serial Santosh Shetty became ready with his Marathi film ‘Andya Cha Funda‘, it was Lata Mangeshkar, who came forward to offer her blessings for this film.
Recently, Lata Didi also released the song ‘Goshta Aata Thambali‘ from this film, which happened for the first time, in the history of Marathi film. This song rendered by Aadarsh Shinde on the lyrics of Kshitij Patrwardhan has music by Amit raj. Present on this occasion were, child artistes of the film Atharva Bedekar, Shubham Parab & Mrunal Jadhav, besides other important artistes in the film like Deepa Parab & Sushant Shelar. Lata Didi blessed them all and wished grand success for ‘Andya Cha Funda‘ film. Produced by Vijay Shetty, the film is all set to release on 30th June 2017.
Dinanath Mangeshkar award for Dilip Prabhavalkar
Veteran actor Dilip Prabhavalkar will receive this year’s Dinanath Mangeshkar award for his contribution to Theatre and Cinema. The awards in other categories are as follows – Pt. Suresh Talwalkar (for contributing to Indian music), Bhalchandra Nemade (for literature), Kumar Ketkar ( for Journalism), Anil Kapur ( for Hindi Cinema), Asha Kamat & Aparna Abhyankar( for Social work) will also be honored for this year. Since last 26 years these awards are being presented, in the memory of Lata Mangeshkar’s father, singer-actor Dinanath Mangeshkar. They have been instituted by Mangeshkar family
The actual award presentation ceremony will be held at a special function, to be held on 24th April 2012. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Cultural Minister Vinod Tawde will be the chief guests on this occasion.
Radha Mangeshkar’s debut album ‘Naav Maaza Shami’
Radha Mangeshkar’s debut album ‘Nav Maaza Shami’, Recently Released by, India’s oldest and most respected music company Saregama India Ltd. Radha is the scion of the 3rd generation of the Mangeshkar gharana. She is the daughter and disciple of Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar and niece of Lata Mangeshkar.
In her debut Marathi folk album ‘Naav Maaza Shami’, Radha has given voice to the lyrics set by the legendary Marathi poets – N. D. Mahanor, Sudhir Moghe & Late B.B. Borkar. The Music has been directed by Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar.
The album gives a new expression to traditional folk songs and has the following tracks ‘ Mazya Govyachya Bhumit’ describes the scenic beauty of Goa ” it’s sands, trees, rivers and sea.’Naav Maaza Shami’ The title track, this Koli geet is a romantic duet and has been co-sung with Makrand Sardeshmukh.Bai Gele Phirayla ” This romantic song has been set to a typical Goan melody and has all the fun and color of Goa.Maher Maze Aatle ” A melodious song it expresses the longing of a newly wed woman for her father’s house.Suttela Ambada ” A young and ebullient number, this is a romantic Marathi folk song.Thakun Basali Maay Ga ” A fitting finale to the album, this song is based on Raga Bhairavi and the melody is based on a Punjabi Hir song.
The legacy of the contribution of the Mangeshkar Gharana to Indian music began with Master Dinanath Mangeshkar. Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar, Meena Mangeshkar and Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar are leading lights of Indian music today. Radha Mangeshkar continues this legacy with the release of ‘Naav Maaza Shami’
