Sana Kedar Shinde to play Shahir Sable’s wife in his biopic
We are all aware that director Kedar Shinde had announced biopic on Shahir Sable. Suitably titled ‘Maharashtra Shahir’ to coincide with his birth centenary. At the beginning of this birth centenary year, he has announced the name of Sana Kedar Shinde, who will play the role of his Shahir’s wife Bhanumati, the well known poet, in this film. Sana is great grand daughter of Late Shahir Sable and hence has been fortunate to play this role.
Besides being a Master in Folk art of Maharashtra, having won several prestigious awards, Shahir Sable had also actively taken part in 1942 Chale Jao freedom movement, Goa and Hyderabad Mukti Sangram and Samyukta Maharashtra Movement. And therefore this biopic will be a biggest tribute to him on the occasion of his birth centenary, which will be observed from 3rd September 2022 to 3rd September 1923. The biopic will however be released in April 2023.
Starring Ankush Chaudhari and Sana Kedar Shinde this film is produced by Sanjay Chhabria (Everest Entertainment) and Bela Shinde. Story by Vasundhara Sable, Screenplay and Dialogue by Pratima Kulkarni and editing by Mayur Hardas are the other credits. Ajay Atul’s music is another highlight of this film.
Kedar Shinde to pay tributes to Shahir Sablethrough his new film
The birth centenary of the great freedom fighter of Sanyukta Maharashtra Movement Shahir Sable will be celebrated next year on 3rd September 2022. Therefore to pay tributes to Shahir Sable his grandson Kedar Shinde will be making a film on his life. Shahir Sable is no more amongst us, but his songs like ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha’ , ‘Ya Go Dandyavarun…’, ‘ Jejurichya Khanderaya…’ are still fresh in our memory.
Born in Parasani in Satara district on 3rd September 1923, Krushnarao Sable after studying upto 7th class soon joined his father singing Bhajans. He was lucky to be associated with legends from Maharashtra like Sane Guruji, KrantiSinh Nana Patil, Bhaurao Patil, Senapati Bapat and others. After participating in Chale Jao Movement of India’s Independence in 1942, he was also associated with Sanyukta Maharashtra, Goa and Hyderabad freedom movement.
To cover many such important moments in the life of Shahir Sable, Pratima Kulkarni has written the script of this film to be directed by Kedar Shinde. Speaking about this film, Kedar says, “ I am working very hard on this project and would like to offer something memorable to the new generation and generations to come, so that they will know the big contribution made by my grandfather.”
Sad demise of Lokshahir Sable
Krishnarao Ganpatrao Sable, popularly known as LokShahir Sable passed away today evening at his Sewri residence in Mumbai. He was 94. He is survived by his wife, Son Devdatt, daughters and grandchildren. Mr. Sable was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, but was active with his daily routine like singing his favourite songs, whenever he remembered them and taking rounds in the corridor of his house. Born in Wai, in Satara District, Lokshahir Sable was a social activist and took part in India’s freedom movement, besides taking active part in Maharashtra, Goa and Hyderabad freedom movement too. Known for his Marathi folk art, he had written his first ‘Powada’ in 1947. He presented his first folk play on stage in 1960 and since then composed many popular folk songs like ‘Jejurichya Khanderaya’ ,’Vinchu Chavala’ and the Maharashtra song ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha…’
Shahir Sable was conferred with Padmashri by Government of India in 1998. Zee Talkies also conferred him with Lifetime award during their first Comedy awards last year. With his sad demise, has left a big vacuum in the field of Maharashtra’s folk art. MMW offers sincere tributes to his departed soul and convey deep condolences to his family members.
