The Jio MAMI Film festival which is at present going on in Mumbai, is showcasing some of the best films from different countries like Poland, Argentina, USA, Austria, Philipines, Germany, China, Bulgaria,Denmark, Russia, Japan, Nepal, Canada and other countries besides India. The festival is held under the aegis of the Mumbai Academy of Moving (MAMI) and is a platform that is shorthand for excellence in cinema. The goal is to cultivate and stir up passion for films. The 18th edition of the festival will go on till 27th October, 2016.
In Marathi talkies section, there are films like ‘Rajwade & Sons‘, ‘Vakratunda Mahakaya‘,’Bioscope‘ and others being shown. Yesterday, evening forthcoming Marathi film ‘Ventilator‘ produced by Priyanka Chopra and directed by Rajesh Mapuskar was premiered, in presence of dignitaries and special guest popular Bollywood film director Rajkumar Hirani. And, according to makers of this film, he really enjoyed watching this film . ‘Ventilator‘ is all set to release on 4th November 2016, all over Maharashtra.

Priyanka Chopra’s debut Marathi production ‘Ventilator‘ may be called a debut Marathi film for director Rajesh Mapuskar and is also a comeback Marathi film for Ashutosh Gowarikar after almost 18 long years. The film also stars another Bollywood personality Boman Irani, who is making his debut in Marathi, through this film, with a small role. The official trailer of this film was released recently at a function in Mumbai.
The film’s story revolves around Kamerkar Family, which unites in their ancestral village to celebrate the festival of Ganpati. This time, with three days to go for the festival, a doyen of the family, and most loved Gaju kaka, goes into a coma. He is put on life support with the ventilator and the confusion follows.
Speaking about her association with this film, producer Priyanka Chopra said, “From the minute I heard the script, I knew I wanted to make this film. It’s one single moment that defines the rest of the film. It is funny, ironical and a deeply moving tale that will leave you laughing and crying. I am very lucky to have such a talented collection of actors coming together for my debut Marathi production“.

Popular Bollywood actress Actress Priyanka Chopra through her production house Purple Pebble Pictures had already announced at the beginning of this year, her Marathi film ‘Ventilator’, which is produced by Madhu Chopra and directed by Rajesh Mapuskar. According to makers, this film will be a family entertainer featuring a sterling ensemble cast that includes veteran Marathi film and theatre actors. The movie is currently into its post-production stage.
It may be recalled that director Rajesh Mapuskar has worked as assistant director with Bollywood filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and also made his debut as independent director through the film ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’. Now, through ‘Ventilator’ he will be making his debut as a director in Marathi. And therefore, there are big expectations from this film, which will announce its release date soon.
Writer- director Rajesh Mapuskar while speaking about his film, said, “I’m grateful to Priyanka Chopra and Madhu Chopra for backing my Marathi debut. This film, which is a fun, festive and family film, features several eminent actors of Marathi film industry.”
