Ravindra Mahajani receives prestigious SKD award
Mr. Ravindra Mahajani , veteran actor from Marathi film industry was conferred upon the prestigious 10th Sarvashreshtha Kala Gaurav Puraskar instituted by Sankskruti kala Darpan on Thursday 11th march 2010, in presence of capacity packed audience at the Yashwant Natya Mandir, Matunga, Mumbai. Mr. Mahajani, entertained the Marathi stage and film lovers during late 70s and 80s had to struggle a lot initially in this filed, till he got his major break in V. Shantaram’s film as a hero.
After receiving this award from MLA- Mr. Praveen Darekar, Mr. Mahajani expressed his gratitude to all those producers and directors of his time who spotted the talent in him. He specifically recalled his meeting with Great film makers like V. Shantaram and Raj dutt . While talking about his association with Nanabhai Bhatt, Mr. Mahajani mentioned about the confidence this Gujarathi film maker had in him, as he could not speak Gujarathi that time. “ Mr. Bhatt, signed me for his film first and then for two months he himself offered me tuitions in Gujarathi. It was only after that he launched his film. Later I worked in 11 Gujarathi films besides working in Marathi films,” he said.
Mr. Ravindra Mahajani also recalled some memorable moments in his life and said, how great he felt when popular singer Lata Mangeshkar invited him for tea at her place to felicitate him after he won his first Filmfare award. “Nothing would have been possible, if my dear wife would not have stood by my side, during my period of struggle. When she knew that I seriously wanted to do a career in acting, she took up a job to avoid financial crisis in the family. I am grateful to her,” said the humble actor. Finally, he only wished that his son who is all set to enter this field, would also receive the same support from the Marathi audience.
SKD awards were also presented to various personalities who excelled in the area of films, stage besides television and education field. On this occasion a variety entertainment programme was also presented. Many celebrities were present on the occasion. Mr. Chandrashekhar Sandwe, the organizer of the function did a good job. MMW were online partners of this award function. Zee 24 Taas will telecast this award function on 21st March at 8 pm.

Marathi Film Personalities Felicitated !
The Dadasaheb Phalke Marathi Chitrapat awards were held in a glittering function at the Ravindra Natya Mandir recently. Many artistes like Ramesh Dev-Seema Dev, Ravindra Mahajani, Vijay Chavan, Ashok Shinde, Swapnil Joshi (in absentia) ,Makarand Anaspure, Mahesh Kothare, Arun Nalavde, Technicians like cinematographer Mangesh Sawant, lightmen/art directors Sharad Pol, M. R. Achrekar, choreographers Subal Sarkar, Narendra Pandit,and music director Avdhoot Gupte were presented with bouquets and citations at the hands of WICA chief cinematographer Ashok Mehta.
Congress leader Dhondiraj Waghmare and state education minister Varsha Gaikwad, Journalists Dilip Thakur (Saamana), Sanjay Ghavre (Lokmat), Vaishnavi Kanvinde (Maharashtra Times), PR persons Sanjay Bane, Ganesh Gargote, still- photographer Mohan Loke were felicitated at the hands of eminent actor Ramesh Bhatkar.
Makers of films with commercial values like ‘Rita’, ‘Hello Gandhe Sir’, social values like ‘Umang’, ‘Pratisaad’, ‘Janm’ and those films with rural backdrop like ‘Gosht Dongraevdhi’, ‘Urus’ were also felicitated along with films like ‘Ajoba Vayat Aale’, ‘Kamapurta Vima’, ‘Baap Manus’, and ‘Konti Bayko Karu’ which received a special mention.
The function gained momentum with song and dance performances by Madhavi Nimkar-Abhijeet Kelkar, Rutuja Deshmukh, Madhura Velankar and Umesh Kamath. Mimicry skits brought the house down with Ashish Pawar, Pradeep Patwardhan, Vijay Kadam and Madhavi Juvekar giving their best. Students from Heramb School sang popular songs.
The show was anchored by Dr.Ganesh Divekar and Prachi Pandit. Present on the occasion were Phalke’s third generation descendants Chandrakant Pusalkar and his wife, who too were felicitated and they made an announcement that in future an award will be given to a female director in the name of Phalke’s wife Savitrabai Phule.
Also present on the occasion were Devendra More of Marathi Trade Guide who sponsored the awards and Maharashtra Congress Committee Secretary Shakeel Ansari.
Rangiberangi – promises total entertainment
Sara Movies ‘Rangiberangi‘ filled with all essentials of romance, comedy and drama is all set to release on Friday 11th September. Directed by Rajendra Bade, the film stars Aniket Vishwasrao and Madhura Velankar in lead roles. While versatile actor Manoj Joshi makes his debut in Marathi films through ‘Rangiberangi‘, other popular Marathi actors like Pradeep Velankar, Ravindra Mahajani, Madhu Kambikar and Kiran Karmarkar will also be seen in important roles.
‘Rangiberangi‘ is a tale of a young boy Ganesh ( Aniket), who much against the wish of his father moves to city from his village, as he aspires to become rich faster. He comes and lives with his uncle( Manoj Joshi). Having been brought up in a decent culture, initially he is unable to cope up with the city lifestyle. His shrewd uncle teaches him all those tricks to walk on the fast track to earn quick money. As per his advice, he tries to impress upon a girl from a rich family( Madhura Velankar) for obvious reasons, but observing her good nature and her service to the society through social work, he becomes her great admirer, besides deeply falling in love with her.
‘Rangiberangi‘ highlights the actual mind-set of today’s youngsters, clearly displaying the good and bad sides. It also shows the contrast between the village lifestyle and that of a city, but it goes on to show how the proper upbringing of a person finally helps in bonding strong relationship. The film also shows the conscience that Ganesh possesses, after reaching a particular stage, when he confesses about his guilt to his beloved and she too forgives him with a big heart. With many more dramatic moments, the film comes with a package of total entertainment for all age groups.
