Veteran Marathi actress Rekha Kamat passes away
Veteran Marathi actress Rekha Kamat, who made her debut in Marathi films seventy years ago in a Marathi film ‘Lakhachi Goshta’ passed away (11 Jan,) at the age of 89. Formerly, Kumud Sukhtankar, she got married to Film Script writer G.R. Kamat in 1953. Later, she performed in Marathi plays and shot into prominence with her talent.
Rekha spent her childhood in Dadar, Mumbai and studied in Indian Education Society’s Chhabildas High School and later in SNDT College. She had also performed dance ballet in Sachin Shankar’s ‘Ramleela’, when her talent was actually noticed. She was active with her acting performance, when few years ago she was seen in popular Marathi TV serial ‘Eka Lagnachi Doosari Goshta’. Her co star in this serial Mukta Barve, who played her grand daughter in this serial, has paid sincere tributes to her screen grandmother, on her sad demise.
‘Har Har Mahadev’ getting ready with negative cutting
Producer Sharad Shelar and director Subhash Phadke’s film ‘Har Har Mahadev’ is complete and the negative cutting of this film was done by writer-collector Vishwas Patil. The film is the story about a young man who takes an initiative to reform a village. The film’s message is to stop people from committing suicide and face life with confidence.
The film stars Sanjay Narvekar in the lead role along with Arun Nalavde, Rekha Kamath, Amita Khopkar, and introducing new lead pair of Gauri Sukhthankahar and Raahil. The music is by Uday-Abhijit and cinematography by Vishwanath. The film is set for an early release.
