Purushottam Berde to return to stage direction after 9 years
Renowned playwright , producer , music director and production designer Purushottam Berde will be making his comeback as a director of Marathi drama. His new play ‘Sumi aani Aamhi (सुमि अणि आम्ही)’ , Besides direction, he will be the production designer and music director of this play.
Produced by Rajas Productions and Mayboli Chitra, ‘Sumi AAni Aamhi’ will be staged with the first show during the mid April 2023. This play stars well known artistes like Mohan Joshi, Savita Malpekar, Shraddha Pokhrankar, Uday Lagoo, Rajesh Chitnis, Pradeep Joshi and Chandrashekhar Bhagwat. Light arrangement will be by Shital Talpade.
This play will present the story of a family, where the mother and father struggle hard to accomplish the mission of their daughter Sumi. Purushottam Berde who has contributed to Marathi stage since 1977, feels that he had this opportunity to present this story to Marathi stage audience, as Rajan Mohadikar the producer had confidence in him. “I am sure that audience would love this play,” he said.
Kumar Sohoni’s new Marathi play ‘Hastaa Ha Savtaa’
Over the years Marathi plays have always invited the attention of the drama audience by presenting not only new subjects from time to time, but also thought provoking message besides entertainment. One such forthcoming Marathi play ‘Hastaa Ha Savtaa’ written by Abhiram Bhadkamkar and directed by Kumar Sohoni will be staged with the inaugural show on 17th June 2022 at 4 pm in Deenanath Mangeshkar Natyagruh, Vile Parle. Produced by Morya Theatres and presented by Vedanta Entertainment, this play will present Priyadarshan Jadhav in central role. The other important artistes of this play are, Amol Bavdekar, Ashwini Joshi, Shraddha Pokhrankar and Prasad Dani. Incidentally, Kumar Sohani as a director has completed 49 years on stage and with this play he will begin his 50th year. Moreover, this is 25th play of Priyadarshan Jadhav . Music by Purshottam Berde and production design by Baba Parsekar are the other credits. This play is produced by Bhausaheb Bhoir.
