Tejashree Pradhan

Tejashree Pradhan

Biography / Profile:

Born : 2 June
Occupation : Actress
Actors generally find their roles in television serials and films, after performing on stage. But, in the case of Tejashree Pradhan, it was the other way. After doing TV serials and films, she expressed her wish to perform on stage through her colleagues; and she was selected in the lead role in Kumar Sohni’s ‘Fakta Tujhi Saath Haviy‘. The play is drawing good crowds, for its timely presentation and subject. Tejashree Pradhan, who has played the popular character of  Janhavi in ‘Honar Suun Mi Hya Gharchi’  serial.

Finally, Janhavi says Goodbye to home viewers

Shashank Ketkar, Tejashree Pradhan in Marathi Serial ‘Honar Sunn mi Hya Gharchi’

Finally, Janhavi played by Tejashree Pradhan has said goodbye, after delivering a baby girl. Her serial ‘Honar Suun Mi Hya Gharchi’ has come to an end, with its final episode held yesterday. From 25th January 2016 onwards, the audience will welcome a new serial ‘Pasant Aahe Mulgi’ in its place. Produced by Nitin Vaidya & Ninad Vaidya, this new serial is directed by Raju Sawant, with the concept designed by well known film and drama director  Sameer Vidwans.

‘Pasant Aahe Mulgi’ is based on the subject of ‘matchmaking’ and questions about necessity of horoscope matching, when the couple is already on the same wavelength, with their thinking process matching each other. The story of this serial revolves around Urmi and Vasu, who fall in love with each other during their college days and later Vasu proposing Urmi for marriage. How their contrast family lifestyles, accept their coming together, is what the serial is all about.   The lead artistes of this serial are  Resham Prashant and Abhishek Deshmukh along with Girish Oak playing the most important role of Pant. The other artistes of this serial are Meghana Vaidya, Padmanabh Bind, Ketaki Saraf, Namrata Kadam, Rama Joshi, Vijay Mishra & Siddhirupa Karmarkar. But, how this serial is able to convince the audience with this subject, it remains to be seen.

It may be recalled that all those new serials released during the past few months have not been very appealing, with nothing new offered through the subject of the serial. Therefore, the expectations of the viewers from any new serial introduced, are very high. In comparison, some of the entertainment shows, were well accepted. The best example is that of  ‘Countdown of Marathi songs- Mirchi Top 20’  programmes, presented by Colors channel.

Last week, Maiboli channel presented two  Marathi films ‘Samudra’ and ‘Agnidivya’ with  interesting subjects . Both the films had renowned artistes from Marathi and had some good content to offer. Even otherwise, Maiboli channel offeres many such Marathi films, which were not shown before on TV channels. It is good to watch such films, instead of watching the routine Marathi comedy films, which are telecast in repeat runs, on other channels.

‘Karti Kaljat Ghusli’ to hit a Century on 21st November

Karti Kalajat Ghusali Marathi Play, Tejashree Pradhan
Tejashree Pradhan, Prashant Damle in Marathi Play ‘Karti Kaljat Ghusli’

Popular Marathi play ‘Karti Kaljaat Ghusali’, presented by Prashant Damle Fan Foundation will be celebrating its century, with 100th show, to be staged on 21st November 2015 at 8 pm at Dinanath Mangeshkar Auditorium , Vile Parle. The chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Devendra Fadavnis will be present as chief guest on the occasion. Among others, who will also be present at this occasion will be Mr. Vinod Tawde, Maharashtra’s Cultural Minister, well known music director Mr. Hridaynath Mangeshkar & singer  Radha Mangeshkar .

The announcement was made by Mr. Prashant Damle himself, art a press conference held recently, when he also called it a memorable moment, in his acting career of 33 years. This play written by Vasant Sabnis, has been revived by Prashant Damle, introducing popular TV actress Tejashree Pradhan in it, in the role of his daughter.

It may be recalled that versatile actor Prashant Damle has performed in eleven thousand drama shows, in his acting career of 33 years and hence MarathiMovieWorld.com takes this opportunity to congratulate him on achieving this rare feat

‘Aakrandan’ gets recognition as festival film

More and more Marathi films are getting the recognition as various Film Festival, for their skilful presentation of social issues. Now, latest addition to this category is new Marathi film ‘Aakrandan’. This film presented by Vivek Pandit and produced by Govind Aaher has found its entry at the Delhi International Film festival, which begins in the first week of December 2015. The presence of many talented versatile artistes from Marathi film industry, in this film, has invited the attention of many film lovers.

Written & Directed by Shashikant Deshpande, the film has already been dubbed Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Chinese languages. Based on the injustice on women and fight against the same, the film stars Sharad Ponkshe, Upendra Limaye, Ganesh Yadav, Bal Smita, Pradeep Velankar, Uday Tikekar, Tejashree Pradhan, Pallavi Wagh in lead roles. Director of Photography Damodar Naidu and editing by Manoj Sankla are the other credits.

Madhuri Out, Tejashree In

Television commercials are also watched by the home viewers, with keen interest, during the break of the popular serials, provided there are popular models endorsing the product. In the recent past, we have been observing many commercial ads, with our Marathi artistes promoting the consumer products. Ankush Choudhary, Pankaj Vishnu, Sachit Patil, Girija Oak Godbole are regularly seen in many commercial ads. Recently, we also saw two actresses from ‘Dil Dosti Duniyadari’ serial, advertising for a consumer product.

But, the home viewers were surprised during the week,  when Tejashree Pradhan, who plays the popular character of  Janhavi in ‘Honar Suun Mi Hya Gharchi’, was seen advertising for a dish washer bar, along with another Marathi actor Adinath Kothare. Incidentally, she has replaced popular bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit, who was earlier advertising for the same product. So, it is almost like ‘Madhuri Out, Tejashree In’ to impress the Marathi audience.

The inclusion of  more and more Marathi film and television artistes to endorse commercial products, has clearly indicated that their presence on screen, can make a big difference, to market a product. It is mainly because, the Marathi viewers closely relate themselves with actresses like Tejashree, Girija or Swanandi, rather than Bollywood actress like Madhuri, who is not considered as Marathi actress, by viewers in Maharashtra. Madhuri should therefore think seriously, about her Marathi image and accept some offers on Marathi television or films, be it, anchoring of  a show, or acting in a Marathi film.

In the coming week, from 2nd November, Colors Marathi will present new comedy show of Bharat Jadhav, at prime time. Earlier, we were not aware of the other performers in this show; but, now it has been revealed that Kranti Redkar will also be part of this show, along with few other popular television artistes. However, it remains to be seen, whether Bharat Jadhav  will succeed  in pulling the viewers to his show. One thing is sure that Bharat’s mere presence will not work. The script of this show and its presentation will play an important role. By the way, Colors is a also gearing up to present their new serial ‘Ganapati Bappa Morya’, perhaps to compete with other period serials based on mythology.

During the week, we noticed complete dominance of negative characters in most of the Marathi TV serials. Janhavi’s mother in ‘Honar Suun Mi Hya Gharchi’, Mothi Aai in ‘Runji’, Neel’s mother in ‘Nanda Saukhyabhare’, ‘Jui’s sister in ‘Asa Sasar Surekh bai’ were  given more than required importance, in every episode. And,  there was  lot of overacting, noticed by the artistes, performing these roles. On some occasions, they  were simply irritating. In the process, the presence of lead artistes the these serial is totally ignored. Hope, it doesn’t go against the serial, as popularity of the serial is always based on positive thinking, as noticed  in some of the serials like Asmita’, ‘Duniyadari’ or the  laughter shows, which are purely entertaining.

Prashant Damle

Prashant Damle is still matchless

Prashant Damale

The moment one hears the name Prashant Damle, a smile adorns one’s face automatically. He is synonymous with loads of laughter. He must be one of the very few actors, to have extensively indulged in all the three forms of entertainment, Theatre, Films, Television. With his presence in entertainment field, spanning almost three decades, he has succeeded in retaining his own identity. Prashant has four Limca world records to his name and numerous awards adorn the shelf in his drawing room.

Prashant is more committed towards Marathi theatre and has so far staged more than 11200 shows. He debuted Marathi stage with ‘Tur Tur’ and ‘Moruchi Mavshi’, which brought him recognition. He played the lead in ‘Bramhachari’ and his play ‘Gela Madhav Kunikade’ broke lots of records. Prashant debuted in Marathi films with ‘Pudhacha Paul’ and went on to do quite a few films like ‘Pasant Aahe Mulgi’, ‘Ekda Pahave Karun’, ‘Ina Mina Deeka’ to name a few. Prashant Damle has a successful stint on television. His anchoring in ‘Aamhi Saare Khavaiye‘ increased his fan following. He acted in serials like ‘Be Dune Teen’, ‘Gharkul’, ‘Bhikajirao Karodpati’, ‘Darling Darling’ to name a few.

MMW had a chit chat with him recently.

MMW : You are staging ‘Karti Kaljat Ghusli’ again. What was the reason to choose this play?
Prashant Damle : I wanted a play with good humour. I was certain that I did not want a farce or a slapstick comedy. ‘Karti Kaljat Ghusli’ is a well written play with pure humour, where you do not have to force or create comedy.

MMW : Tejashree Pradhan is debuting with this play. What’s your take?
PD : Tejashree was keen to do theatre. She has the ability and has been putting in real hard work.

MMW : What keeps you away from films and television?
PD : Number of stage shows. But frankly, I was seen on television (Marathi and Hindi) and I have just completed film shooting of ‘Bho Bho’. You will see me in another film in an important role in ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai 2 – Lagnala Yayachach’.

MMW : But you like to be on stage…..
PD : You ought to do, what gives you more pleasure. I enjoy doing theatre.

MMW : Any role close to your heart?
PD : I can not single out one role. Each play I featured in, is a milestone in my career. Frankly, I love all my plays. Each play and role has its own importance. …..

MMW : What about films and serials?
PD : Films…. ‘Vajva Re Vajva’ and ‘Savat Mazi Ladki’, TV serial…..‘Kai Pahilas Mazhyat’. Me and the whole team had a blast during the making of this serial.
