‘Asehi Ekada Vhave’ presents a simple Unconventional urban love story
Movie: Asehi Ekada Vhave
Rating: ★★★ Genres: Drama Censor: U Duration: 120 min. Studio / Presenter: Zelu Entertainment Producer: Madhukar Rahane DOP: Salil Sahasrabudhe Director: Sushrut Bhagwat Cast: Umesh Kamat, Tejashri Pradhan, Sharvani Pillai, Nikhil Rajeshirke, Chirag Patil, Narayan Jadhav, Ajit Bhure, Kavita Lad Medhekar Movie Review by: Ulhas Shirke |
At a time when rural based love stories have become popular on Marathi small and big screens, Director Sushrut Bhagwat has dared to present unconventional urban love story through his latest Marathi film ‘Asehi Ekada Vhave‘. It is the story of Siddharth Vaidya( Umesh Kamat) and Kiran Paranjape( Tejashri Pradhan) both from well to do families. Siddharth who is visually impaired runs the big family business of a popular brand of spices along with his elder sister Revati ( Shravani Pillai) who is CEO &MD of the company, while Kiran who is the only daughter of rich parents ( Ajit Bhure & Kavita Lad) works as a Radio Jockey with a popular radio channel.
Siddharth who is a regular listener of Kiran’s programme, falls in love with her mesmerizing voice and spontaneous smile. He offers a business proposal to her radio channel to market his brand, provided Kiran does the publicity , being the most popular RJ. During their first business meeting, Kiran is highly impressed by Siddharth’s behavior and is not aware that he is visually impaired, as the meeting takes place in presence of Siddharth’s marketing manager. During her second meeting with him at her radio channel, she comes to know about the reality . But, during their interaction, Siddharth misunderstands her. So, he tries to keep himself away from her. However, Kiran in spite of being humiliated by Siddharth becomes his sympathizer. Her broad minded parents too, support her decision to marry him . Finally, all goes well at the end in this unusual love story.
Director Sushrut Bhagwat has tried his best to give justice to this two hour long film, with emotion filled sequences lined up one after the other, in the limited content available to him. Writer Shravani Pillai has grabbed a big role of Revati for herself in this film, which she has played convincingly. But, as a writer, she fails to generate much interest in the post interval session. The lead pair of the film come opposite each other after 40 minutes from start of the film. The story of the film drags in the screenplay with lots of discussion among different characters in the style of a drama in this session.
Lead pair played by Umesh Kamat and Tejashri Pradhan have however impressed through their wonderful performances throughout the film. They find good support from Ajit Bhure, Kavita Lad, Narayan Jadhav & few others. Music of ‘Asehi Ekada Vhave‘ film is impressive with both Avadhoot Gupte and Advait Patwardhan attempting suitable melodies for this emotion filled subject. Salil Sahasrabuddhe’s cinematography and Namita Gogate’s costume designing are two more plus points of this film. Don’t expect entertainment and humour from this film, as it deals with a love story with a serious subject. Technically, it a well made film.

Umesh Kamat & Tejashree Pradhan fly kite to promote their film ‘Asehi Ekada Vhave’
This is the week to welcome Makar Sankranti. And as per the tradition, it is time to distribute ‘tilgul’ and fly kites to celebrate this occasion. So, to catch up with this festive spirit, makers of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Asehi Ekada Vhave’ unveiled the first look of their film at Plaza preview theatre, Dadar with lead pair Umesh Kamat & Tejashree Pradhan distributing ‘Tilgul’ to media people, who were present in large number. After unveiling the first look, to celebrate this occasion, both Umesh and Tejashree attempted to fly kite to promote their film, which is a love story with a difference, as claimed by director Sushrut Bhagwat.
Speaking on the occasion, the director said that he was very much impressed with the story penned by Shravani Pillai and decided to make this film, opting for his favourite actor Umesh Kamat, with whom he had worked with previous films ‘Mumbai Time’ & ‘A Paying Ghost‘. As regards selecting Tejashree for the lead role, the director stated that he wanted an actress who had not played the lead opposite Umesh till now. And, that’s how Tejashree found this role. Even otherwise, both Umesh and Tejashree are popular stars today, with Umesh opening this year with success through his first film of the year ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa’ and Tejashree has attained popularity as an anchor for the hit musical programme ‘Sur Nava Dhyas Nava’ on television.
Present on the occasion were producer Mr. Madhukar Rahane and other artistes of this film Chirag Patil, Shravani Pillai, Ravindra Shingne along with technical crew members.
‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa’ is another name for ‘Time pass’
Genres: Drama Duration: 120 min. Studio / Presenter: zee Studio Producer(s): Om Prakash Bhatt, Ameya Khopkar, Sujay Shankarwar DOP: Pushpank Gawade Writer, Director: Sanjay Jadhav Cast: Siddharth Jadhav, Tejaswini Pandit, Umesh Kamat, Sanjay Narvekar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Vishakha Subhedar, Anand Ingale Movie Review by: Ulhas Shirke |
Over the years, we have been watching Bollywood films based on themes like robbery of diamonds, and currency notes amounting Crores of rupees. But now, our Marathi film makers have borrowed this formula and the best example is latest released Marathi film ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa‘, which has turned out to be a ‘Time Pass’ action comedy. With so many popular artistes from Marathi films like Mrinal Kulkarni, Sanjay Narvekar, Umesh Kamat, Tejaswini Pandit, Siddharth Jadhav , Vishakha Subhedar, Anand Ingle & Kishore Pradhan, one expected it to offer something extra ordinary, as indicated through its first look. Bur, never mind, the film has turned out to be a time pass film for Marathi film lovers, who enjoy action filled comedy films.
There is no point in discussing the plot in detail, as the story of this film written by director Sanjay Jadhav himself, is a situation based comedy film involving five different characters namely Janhavi, Anna, Aditya, Bubbly & Sunny played by Mrinal Kulkarni, Sanjay Narvekar, Umesh Kamat, Tejaswini Pandit, Siddharth Jadhav respectively. But, director Sanjay Jadhav with the help of Arwind Jagtap has developed every situation skillfully to offer entertainment through the screenplay of the film. The director himself plays the narrator in the beginning and towards the end to explain the audience what exactly was in his mind, for handling this subject.
The performances of all the lead artistes mentioned above are brilliant. Each one of them have tried to generate humour in every scene to their share with perfect understanding of the situation. They find good support from dialogues penned by Arwind Jagtap , good camera work by Pushpak Gawde and apt background music by Pankaj Padghan. A lot of attention has been p[aid on costume designing of every important character. However, music provided for the two songs, including the title song isn’t very impressive. It was also played with full volume during these two songs. Tushar Dalvi and Kishore Pradhan are just namesake in this film, but artistes like Vishakha Subhedar, Anand Ingle find better scope. Former Bollywood actor Bijay Anand finds a prominent role in this film, but he speaks in Hindi in most of the scenes. All in all, ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa‘ is another name for ‘Time pass’ .
