Around 100 Marathi films released during 2017, but very few had successful run

In the year 2016 only one Marathi film did very good business and that was ‘Sairat’, which turned out to be a Super Hit Marathi film. However, in the year 2017, which just concluded, we haven’t seen a film reaching that level of success, though there were around 100 films released during this year. It’s not that no film received success. There were films like ‘Ti Sadhya Kaay Karte’ , ‘Boyz’, ‘Chi Vas au Ka’ , ‘Fugay’ and latest released film at the end of year 2017 ‘Deva’ received good response from audience. In fact, release of ‘Deva’ was along with Salman Khan’s film, which is to be appreciated. Films like ‘Hridayantar’, ‘Lapachhapi’ and ‘Halal’ also received appreciation from audience, for attempting new subjects.
Surprisingly, big banner films like ‘FU’, ‘Rubik Cube’, ‘Bhikari’, ‘Bus Stop’, ‘Dhyanimani’ didn’t receive much response from Marathi audience. At the fag end of the year two other films ‘Gachchi’ and ‘Charandas Chor’ did attempt something different through the film’s unusual story. Year 2018 has just began and it remains to be seen, which film would turn out to be hit? The new year release begins with Sanjay Jadhav’s multi starrer film ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa’ which is all set to release on 5th January 2018. Some critics have already predicted after watching the first look that this would be a hit film. Let us wait and see. There are few other films which are due for release in this new year and have raised expectations. The names of these films are, ‘Waras’, ‘Bebhaan’, ‘Cycle’ & ‘Unmatta’. Wishing them all the best.
