It’s high time, Rajinikanth does a Marathi film, say Marathi film critics
South Superstar and former popular Bollywood film hero Rajinikanth has his fan following across the country and all over the world. According to our sources his latest film ‘Kabali’ has been released simultaneously in 30 nations in the world, which is the widest release of any Indian film so far.
Rajnikant also being popular in Mumbai and Maharashtra, with his original roots in Maharashtra, his film has received overwhelming response during the first three days, with housefull shows . Some of the film critics in Marathi have now expressed their wish that Rajinikanth should do a Marathi film. Rajnikant himself has already expressed his wish to do a Marathi film in near future. All that is required is a suitable script to suit his image. One senior Marathi critic on his social networking page has appealed to Rajnikant to do a Marathi film, which according to him will be equivalent to 100 Marathi films released during the year.
Now, the ball is in Rajnikant’s court, as people from Maharashtra have already made his film ‘Kabali‘ a super hit film in Maharashtra too.
Hansraj Jagtap & Mitali Mayekar return with ‘Yaari Dosti’
National award winning youngster Hansraj Jagtap, whom we had seen in films like ‘Dhag‘ and ‘Rakhandar‘ and ‘Urfi‘ fame Mitali Mayekar are working together in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Yaari Dosti‘ directed by Shantanu Anant Tambe. Mitali is playing the role of a school girl, while three newcomers Ashish Gade, Sumit Bhokse & Shreyas Raje will be making their debut through this film. ‘Majhi Shala‘ fame Aaksh Waghmode is also part of this film.
Apart from these youngsters, the film also stars Sandeep Gaikwad, Nisha Parulekar, Ashok Pavde, Namrata Jadhav & Janardan Singh. The film ‘Yaari Dosti‘ has tried to show, what happens, when the young children from different background living in Mumbai city come together, in each other’s life . This film’s teaser has already been launched on social media and has been receiving good response from young generation. The film is due for release on 5th August 2016.
Biggest attraction of ‘Taleem’ will be the Lavani performance by Vaishali Dabhade
We are all aware that if a Marathi film based on Lavani, has a good story supported by apt lyrics and mesmerizing music, it achieves sure success. In the past, films like ‘Ek Gaon Bara Bhanagadi‘,’Pinjara‘ & ‘Natarang‘ have already proved, how this success formula works.
Now, Bollywood film’s editing expert Nitin Rokade using his expertise in films, is offering one such film ‘Taleem‘, which is all set to release on 5th August 2016 all over Maharashtra. Highlight of this film is a Lavani performance shot on actress Vaishali Dabhade. For this Lavani, a huge set was erected at Ghatghar in Junner district of Maharashtra, to give a realistic feel to this Lavani. Lyrics by Mandar Cholkar and music by Prafull Karlekar are other credits of this Lavani, which has been rendered in the voices of Ronkini Gupta & Swapnil Godbole.
In ‘Taleem‘ film, Vaishali Dabhade portrays the character of Laxmi Satarkar, for which she has worked very hard, according to the makers of this film. Besides Vaishali, the other important artistes of this film are Abhijit Shwetchandra, Prashant Mohite, Vishnu Joshilkar, Mitali Jagtap, Chhaya Kadam,Yashpal Sarnath & Arjun.
‘YZ’ trailer launched in absence of lead actor
Many a times, we find the lead character of the film missing during the music or trailer launch of Marathi films. This was observed during the trailer launch of forthcoming Marathi film ‘YZ‘. In absence of Akshay Tanksale, one of the lead actors, his cut out was displayed at the venue, to indicate his presence during the group photographs with other lead artistes. By the way, Akshay was shooting in London for another film and hence could not make it for this function.
But, during this trailer launch all others connected with ‘YZ‘ film , right from producers Sanjay Chhabriya, Anish Jog, writer Kshitij Patwardhan & director Sameer Vidwans to artistes Sagar Deshmukh, Saii Tamhankar, Mukta Barve, Parna Pethe were present. The trailer of this film clearly indicated that each one of the artistes were playing variety of characters, with a big surprise coming from Saii Tamhankar, who is playing the character of a simple looking bespectacled god fearing woman. Mukta Barve is playing a mod girl, while Parna Pethe plays an unusual character of a Mod girl, who is studying Sanskrit.
The film has already raised curiosity over its title. Now, it remains to be seen, how it defines its title, when the film is released on 12th August 2016.
‘Paij’ muhurat performed at Shivaji Mandir
Mumbai’s Shivaji Mandir is known for staging Marathi dramas over the years. But, on Tuesday morning muhurat of a Marathi film ‘Paij‘ was held at this venue. On this occasion all the artistes and technicians were present, along with chief guest of the function Meghraj RajeBhosale , President of Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal. As the film is based on the Life journey of a Lavani queen, Lavani dances were presented on this occasion.
Kakaji Arts and Films, who had earlier presented many music albums are the producers of this film. Directed by Prakash Bhalekar, the film is directed by Prakash Bhalekar and the lead stars of this film are Mohan Joshi, Mangesh Desai, Sonali Kulkarni, Sara Shravan, Ramesh Vani & Prabhakar More. Produced by Pandharinath Bhalekar, Santukrao Kolte & Vinod Vaishnav, Story by Sanjay Kolte, screenplay-dialogues and music by Pandharinath Bhalekar and cinematography by Jitendra Achrekar are other credits of the film.
‘Tee Phulrani’ celebrating 50th show
Popular Marathi play ‘Tee Phulrani‘ was written by Well Known playwright P.L. Deshpande. This play was based on G.B. Shaw’s famous English play Pygmalion. Now, director Rajesh Deshpande has revived this play with his new team of artistes comprising of Hemangi Kavi in title role along with Dr.Girish Oak, Vijay Patwardhan & Sunil Jadhav . Though some of critics felt that the flavour of original play was missing; the new play has completed 50 shows successfully.
Produced by Ashtagandha Entertainment & Edonis Multimedia & Enterprises, this play performed its 50th show in Mumbai, after paying tributes to all those who were behind staging this play in the past. And, the audience responded well , appreciating the efforts of this new team. It may be recalled that all old Marathi plays which have been revived in the recent past, have received good response. And ‘Tee Phulrani‘ is the latest addition to this list.

‘मौनांतर २०१६‘ या मूकनाट्य स्पर्धेत ‘व्यक्ती पुणे‘ या संस्थेच्या ‘घनदाट‘ मूकनाट्याने प्रथम क्रमांक मिळविला . पीव्हीजी सीओईटी, पुणेच्या ‘खिचीक्’ला द्वीतीय क्रमांक तर ‘संवर्धन संस्थे‘च्या ‘संगत‘ने तृतीय क्रमांकाचे पारितोषिक मिळविले.
या स्पर्धेचा पारितोषिक वितरण समारंभ काल , १८ जुलै रोजी सायंकाळी भरत नाट्य मंदिर येथे क्षितीज पटवर्धन, समीर विद्वांस, अनीश जोग यांच्या हस्ते झाला. कुशल खोत ,सुनील चांदोरकर ,प्रदीप वैद्य ,डॉ दीपक मांडे ,श्री भैरव ,तसेच ‘वाय झेड ‘ मराठी सिनेमाची टीम या पारितोषिक वितरण समारंभाला उपस्थित होती
भरत नाट्य मंदिर येथे या स्पर्धेचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते. ‘ड्रीम्स टू रिअॅलिटी‘ आणि ‘रंगीत तालिम‘, ‘ऐलान ‘ या पुण्यातील संस्थांच्या वतीने या मूकनाट्य स्पर्धेचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते. एकूण २० संघ या स्पर्धेत सहभागी झाले होते . स्पर्धेचे हे तिसरे वर्ष होते. अभिनेत्री देविका दफ्तरदार, अभिनेता गिरीश परदेशी हे या स्पर्धेचे परीक्षक होते . ढेपे वाडा , कैलास जीवन यांच्या सहकार्याने ही स्पर्धा पार पडली.
शहरी जीवनातील शौचालयाची समस्या, कुचंबणा ‘व्यक्ती पुणे‘ च्या या ‘घनदाट‘ मूकनाट्यात मांडलेली आहे. मिथुनचंद्र चौधरी लिखित या मूकनाट्याचे दिग्दर्शन सुयश झुंजूरके यांनी केले आहे. आदीत्य बिडकर, महेंद्र मारणे, साहिल जाधव, वैभव पांडव, तेजश्री शिलेदार, अथर्व कानगुडे यांच्यासह २० जणांचा समावेश ‘घनदाट‘ मूकनाट्यात आहे. घनदाटमध्ये प्रकाश योजना सुयश झुंजूरके यांची असून, किरण ढमाले आणि विराज देशपांडे यांनी संगीत दिले आहे.
यावेळी बोलताना परीक्षक गिरीश परदेशी म्हणाले , “मराठी साहित्य समृद्ध असून मूक नाटकातून कविता ,हायकू ,कथा असे मराठी साहित्य दिसण्याची गरज आहे . त्यासाठी नव्या पिढीने वाचनावर भर द्यावा ‘असे प्रतिपादन स्पर्धेचे परीक्षक गिरीश परदेशी यांनी केले . मूक नाट्य सादर करताना ‘शांतता ‘-सायलेन्स ‘ चा वापर अधिक व्हावा ‘. लाईट्स चे वैविध्य ,रंगांचे वैविध्य उपयोगात आणले जावे . संगीताचा प्रभावी वापर हेही मूक नाट्याचे बल स्थान ठरते “असा सल्लाही त्यांनी दिला.
Will ‘Kiran Kulkarni v/s Kiran Kulkarni’ prove lucky for Kranti Redkar?
Kranti Redkar has completed 10 years, since her entry into Marathi films, with that famous dance performance on the song ‘Kombadi palali..‘ in the film ‘Jatra‘. Till now, she has performed in about 17 Marathi films, but except for few films like ‘Kaakan‘, ‘On Duty 24 Taas’, ‘Majha Navra Tujhi Bayko‘, ‘Pipani’, ‘KhoKho‘, ‘Laadi Godi’, ‘No Entry’, ‘Yudh‘, ‘Sugar Salt Aani Prem’ & ‘Murder Mestri’, she couldn’t find good roles. Kranti did perform on television, but her fans are waiting for her memorable performance.
Kranti did find one such good role in ‘Kakan’, but the actress has lot of potential, which is to be exploited by Marathi film makers. Now, her performance in the film ‘Kiran Kulkarni v/s Kiran Kulkarni’ directed by Kanchan Adhikari is expected to invite the attention of Marathi film lovers. Kranti too was excited about her role, on the eve of her film’s release. Hope, this performance opens better opportunities for her, in years to come.
‘Khulta Kali Khulena’ to be aired from 18th July on Zee Marathi
It seems that subjects involving love stories of youngsters bringing together two families , has set a new trend in Marathi TV serials. Some of the ongoing serials on different Marathi channels, are the best examples. Now, Zee Marathi will also be offering one such subject presenting story of Deshpande and Dalvi family. When there are two families, there have to be number of characters with different attitude. Om Prakash Shinde plays the young doctor Vikrant Dalvi in the lead role, while Abhidnya Naik and Mayuri Deshmukh play female lead in this serial. Produced by Santosh Bharat Kanekar, this serial is directed by versatile director Hemant Deodhar.
The Marathi serial ‘Khulta Kali Khulena‘ also stars many other popular artistes like Usha Nadkarni, Sanjay Mone, Lokesh Gupte, Sharvari Lohakare, Manasi Magikar & Asha Shelar. The serial is all set to air from Monday 18th July 2016 at 8.30 pm , which means that ‘Majhe Pati Saubhagyavati‘ will be saying good bye to the audience.
“Proper release of ‘Astu’ was possible through audience support”- Dr.Mohan Agashe
Dr.Mohan Agashe is the happiest man today. His own production ‘Astu’ did win 2 national awards and about 25 other awards. But, could not see its proper release in theatres across Maharashtra, two years ago. This has not happened with a film like ‘Astu’, but many other award winning films. But, when there is a will, there is a way. Dr. Agashe seriously felt that his film should reach out to maximum people. His efforts worked in this film’s favour. ‘Astu’ is now releasing in a big way, in Mumbai and all over Maharashtra on coming Friday 15th July 2016.
MarathiMovieWorld.com spoke to Dr. Mohan Agashe, during the press show of this film on Wednesday evening, when he joined the media persons along with lead actress of the film Irawati Harshe, during the break. “We showed this film to many renowned personalities. Special screenings were organized at many universities. There were special shows for select people, who came forward to with their contributions. In Thane, we had organized a show, at the request of Dr.Anand Nadkarni and the special invitees contributed an amount of Rs. 22,000/- in just one screening. Such good response from the audience, helped us a lot, to distribute the film at theatres,” said Mr. Agashe.
Irawati Harshe who is playing the lead role in this film, has already bagged few awards for her performance in this film. When asked about her progress on television and films, she said,” I am not doing television any more. But, my five more films are complete with shooting.”
