Sachin Parekar celebrates 25 years of his film career, with launch of new film ’Taffeta’

Film maker Sachin Parekar has completed 25 years of his film career. To celebrate this achievement, he had invited Varsha Usgaonkar, star of his first film ‘Shejari Shejari‘, at a function recently. On this occasion, he made announcement of his next film ‘Taffeta‘. Actually, ‘Taffeta’ is Persian word and means ” Twisted Woven” Now, in what context, he has used this title, will be known, only after release of this film.
Scripted by Tushar Godse, ‘Taffeta‘ will be directed by Nitin Savale and stars young team of artistes, comprising of Siddharth Chandekar, Abhijit Khandkekar, Prajakta Mali & Pallavi Patil. And, as the title suggests, it is a love story with emotional touch. But, the makers of this film, claim that it will be a different type of love story.
‘Janma rahasya’ a new psycho thriller by Kumar Sohoni

Kumar Sohoni‘s new psycho thriller ‘Janmarahasya‘, written by well known Psychiatrist Dr. Anand Nadkarni, has popularised among the Marathi audience, because of its unique subject. Actress turned producer Bhagyashree Desai, who has produced film like ‘Hota Asa kadhi kadhi‘ and dramas like ‘Lekure Udand Jhali‘, ‘Titwala fast‘, ‘Chiranjeev Aais‘ & ‘Chehare Mukhawate’ has presented this new play, under the banner of Rasikmohini.
According to her , she was highly impressed with the content of this play and felt that it should reach to maximum people. And, that is why, she decided to present this play. Bhagyashree herself has performed lead role of Snehal in this play, who experiences good and bad experiences in her life. The other important artistes in this play are, Amita Khopkar, Vasudha Deshpande, Gururaj Avadhani, & Ajinkya Date. Music is provided by Ashok Patki.
Ramdas Phutane returns with ‘Sarpanch Bhagirath’

Well Known Poet and film maker Ramdas Phutane, who produced award winning film like ‘Samna’, followed by directing two other Marathi films ‘Sarvasakshi‘ and ‘Survanta‘ has returned to direction after almost two decades. Known for dealing with social issues, on the rural backdrop, through his films, this time Ramdas Phutane makes a strong statement on caste politics and reservation policy, through his forthcoming Marathi film ‘Sarpanch Bhagirath‘.
Story of this film revolves around Bhagirath, played by Upendra Limaye, who is made Sarpanch of the village, being an OBC, by a Political leader of the village. What problems he faces, after taking over this post and how tackles them, doing the balancing act of Political work and home front, is what the film’s story is all about. In the film, talented actress Veena Jamkar plays his wife in the film. Shahir Sambhaji Bhagat scores the music of this film, making his debut as music director in films.
Film’s first look was released on Monday, in presence of producer Shivkumar Lad , director Ramdas Phutane, and the lead pair of Upendra and Veena. The film will be released on 4th March 2016, as per the announcement made by the makers.
Is Vaibhav Tatwawdi the new Superhero of Marathi films ?

For the past few years, we have been watching action packed super hero kind of films in Marathi. Films like ‘Arjun‘, ‘Baji‘, ‘Lai Bhari‘, ‘Carry On Maratha‘ & ‘Guru‘ offered Marathi Super heroes in the form of Sachit Patil, Shreyas Talpade, Gashmir Mahajani & Ankush Choudhari . But now, with the release of ‘Mr. & Mrs. Sadachari‘, we can count one more name of Vaibhav Tatwawdi to this list. Though this is not a complete action film, there is plenty of scope for Vaibhav to perform all those unbelievable fight sequences, tossing in the air all those baddies in the film, with his power packed punch.
Marathi Movie World spoke to Vaibhav during the press show of this film. The tall and smart youngster from Nagpur, was all smiles, when we asked him, whether happy days had begun for him, after the release of ‘Bajirao Mastani’? Indeed, Vaibhav has added more and more admirers to his list of well wishers. Now, he is going to maintain that required balance between the assignments from Hindi and Marathi films.
After release of ‘Mr. & Mrs. Sadachari‘, his next film ‘Cheater‘ will be released soon . According to Vaibhav, 90% of this film’s shooting was done in Mauritius. “There is a possibility that premiere of this film will also be held there,” said Vaibhav. There is one more Marathi film, he has signed with his favorite co star Prarthana Behere. And, there are talks going on for his next Hindi film. In the meanwhile, Vaibhav’s another Hindi film to be released now, is Prakash Jha’s ‘Lipstickwale Sapne’.
That’s ’s a big achievement for this young Marathi actor. The talented actor, certainly has a bright future. But, for the time being, can we call him, the new superhero of Marathi films? Those who have seen his film ‘Mr. & Mrs. Sadachari’ may agree.
Swapnil Joshi turns new fashion icon

We have seen many Bollywood celebrities and Indian cricketers endorsing the different brands of fashions, in the past. But, now a Marathi Superstar has also got an opportunity to do so. Yesterday evening, he was personally present with his sponsors GSEAMS, to launch Max Look Good Feel Good new Summer Collections at their outlet at Inorbit Mall , Malad.
All these collections, which will be available at different outlets at Mumbai, Pune & Nagpur . A contest was conducted for launching these style wears and the winners were presented with the special ‘Look Book’ signed by Swapnil Joshi on this occasion. Even otherwise, Swapnil who has also performed in Hindi, besides Marathi films and TV serials, has lots of fan following. Now, let us wait and see, how his followers would respond to the brand endorsed by their favourite star.
‘Sangharshyatra’ backs out from Friday race

Now days, release of 3 to 4 films on a Friday has become a routine. Only if, there are 5 or more films to be released on Friday, it becomes a news. Accordingly, yesterday we had made a news about 5 films to be released this Friday. Till yesterday, we had seen advertisements of all these films in news papers and on television about their Friday release. Press shows of two of these films are already over and press show of ‘Sangharshayatra’ was to be held on Wednesday. But, early hours of Wednesday, all the film critics received message from this film’s PRO stating that release date of ‘Sangharshayatra’ was postponed for the second time.
The news about postponement of release date of this film, certainly created confusion among the press reporters, as this was happening for the second time. Actually, the film had done lot of advertising and had even done promotion of television. On the last occasion, when the first look of the film was unveiled in presence of media people, the makers of this film had jokingly said that the release of this film was deliberately done late, as Mr. Munde (on whose life, the film is based) also used to arrive late at the functions . But, frankly speaking they should not compare the audience attending political rallies with audience of Marathi films.
Five films lined up for release coming Friday

Five Marathi films have announced their release coming Friday, i.e.19th February 2016. And the names of these films are, ‘Vighnaharta Mahaganapati’, ‘Sangharshayatra’, ‘Mr.& Mrs. Sadachari’ ‘Ek Hotee Rani’ and ‘7 Roshan Villa’. All the four films are of different genre and have recognized artistes in the star cast.
‘Vighnaharta Mahaganapati’ is set on the backdrop of 315 year old history of Lord Ganapati, from Taramumbari village in Deogad taluka. The film stars Alka Kubal Athalye, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Priya Marathe, Sharad Ponkshe and others. This film is Directed by Rajesh Chavan . ‘Sangharshayatra’ is a biopic on popular BJP leader Late Gopinath Munde, with popular artistes like Sharad kelkar, Shruti Marathe, Dipti Bhagwat and others. This film is directed by Sakar Raut.
‘7 Roshan Villa’ directed by Abhijit Prabhakar Bhosale and starring Prasad Oak and Tejaswini Pandit in the lead role, is a suspense filled thriller. This film was to be released last year; but has found year 2016 as the right time for its release. One more film ‘Ek Hotee Rani’ has promised an unusual love story, with Aniket Vishwasrao & Minal Ghorpade in the lead. This film is directed by Prasad Tarkar. Finally, ‘Mr.& Mrs. Sadachari‘, which is a remake of a Kannada film, is a typical south style of film, with all the relevant masala like music, action and romance, to meet the requirement of a commercial entertaining film. Directed by Distributor turned director Ashish Wagh, the film stars Vaibhav Tatwawdi and Prarthana Behere in the lead roles.
So, let us wait till Friday, to see, which film bags maximum cinema halls and more importantly, which film invites maximum audience at ticket windows.
“I always love to be a student and learn new things” – Yogini Chouk

Renowned Marathi stage, television and film actress Yogini Chouk, despite her busy schedule, has joined her theatre group’s ( Theatre of Relevance) workshop at Oras, Sindhudurg , to motivate local students, who are being trained by expert theatre personality and founder of Theatre of Relevance, in theatre art Manjul Bharadwaj .
Manjul Bharadwaj is presently training the students from Agricultural College in Sindhudurg, along with his group members, Komal Khamkar, Ashwini Nadedkar and Sayali Pawaskar. These students are preparing a play on “Farmers suicide and challenges of Agriculture in modern India.”, which will be staged during the “Sindhu Agro Fest” to be held from 17-20 Feb.2016 and organised by Sindhudurg Zila Krushi Pratishthan.
While speaking about Mr. Manjul Bharadwaj, Yogini says,” ‘Theatre of Relevance’ has given me new way of learning & Manjul Bharadwaj , who is a renowned name in the world, has shown me this new path of knowledge. I always love to be a student and learn new things. ”
Tejaswini Pandit to play a strong female protagonist

By educating a girl child, we feel that enough has been done, for the progress of women in our country. But, in spite of advancement of women in every sector; still they have to shoulder responsibility at home front, even if they are working women. But, forthcoming Marathi film ‘Ticha Umbartha’ throws light on this important issue, showing the conflict on this debatable point.
Based on the story of well Known journalist Jayant Pawar ‘s Marathi drama, ‘Majha Ghar’, renowned action director of Bollywood Mr. Ravi Diwan has produced this film, which is directed by Pradeep Ghonsikar. Highlight of ‘Ticha Umbartha‘ film is that talented and beautiful actress Tejaswini Pandit is playing the central character of a female protagonist in this film, which also has popular Marathi TV stars Chinmay Mandlekar and Suyash Tilak in lead roles. The other important artistes of this film are, Jyoti Chandekar, Harsha Khandeparkar, Shital Shukla, Tulika Nikam, Bharat Sharma, Jayant Patekar, Abhinay Patekar and child artiste Aditi Sawant.
For Tejaswini Pandit, this is a big opportunity, to invite the attention of the audience to this issue and at the same time , to be eligible for popular awards for best actress. So much has been the strength of this role, according to the makers of this film. Even otherwise, the month of February seems to be lucky for her. Her two films are releasing this month.
Pooja Sawant survives, despite major fire during her event

The occasion was celebration on the occasion of ‘make in India’ event Maharashtra Rajani, at Mumbai’s Girgaon chaupati. It all happened, all of a sudden, as if it was a shooting for an action film. Big ‘B’ Amitabh Bachchan had just finished his event and popular Marathi actress Pooja Sawant stepped in to perform the popular Lavani ‘Mala Jaoo Dya Na Ghari…’ along with a group of dancers.
Though people seated in the front rows, including VIPs like chief minister of Maharashtra and delegates of different countries could see the fire spreading under the stage, actress Pooja Sawant and her group kept on going. Perhaps, they might have thought that it was artificially created smoke, which we usually see during such events. But, it was only when the security people went close to the stage shouting and asking them to leave the stage, they realized some trouble and left the podium.
There were many others, including actor Shreyas Talpade , Anchor Vivek Oberoi and 500 performers, including children, who were immediately shifted to a safer place. Though, it was a quick rescue operation, with no injuries, reported, Pooja is yet to recover from the shock.
