‘Ganvesh’ gets ready with promotion with release of teaser
Produced by Vijayate Entertainment, forthcoming Marathi Film ‘Ganvesh’ directed by Cameraman turned director Atul Jagdale, is getting ready for release. Recently, as part of its promotion, the teaser of this film was released, on the occasion of India’s Republic day. The three lead artistes of this film, Mukta Barve, Kishore Kadam & Smita Tambe made official announcement of the same, at Swatantryaveer Savarkar Memorial, at Shivaji Park, Mumbai.
The film’s subject throws light on the neglected areas of the administration, like Corruption, unemployment & poverty. The director has tried to present this film in a humorous way, with the help of music and good performances by talented artistes, who are part of this film. Tejas Ghatge has written the script of this film, while music is composed by Nihar Shembekar. Popular singers like Nandesh Umap and Urmila Dhangar have rendered their voices for the songs in this film, penned by Guru Thakur, who is also performing in this film.
The other artistes of ‘Ganvesh‘ movie are, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Sharad Ponkshe, Nagesh Bhosale, Jayant Savarkar, Ganesh Yadav, Suhas Palshikar & others.
Popular TV stars come together in the film ‘Ticha Umbartha’
Chinmay Mandlekar, Suyash Tilak and Tejaswini Pandit , are part of different ongoing Marathi TV serials and programmes. All three of them will now be seen together in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Ticha Umbartha’, which is due for release on 26th February 2016.
‘Ticha Umbartha‘ is produced by popular action director of Bollywood , Ravi Diwan and is directed by Pradeep Ghonsikar. Two companies, namely STN Networks Pvt.Ltd. and Pickle Entertainment are distributor’s of this film.The other artistes of this film are Jyoti Chandekar, Sheetal Shukla, Harsha Khandeparkar, Tulika Prakash Nikam, Bharat Sharma, Jayant Patekar, child star Aditi Sawant and others.
Cinematography by Yogesh Jani, art by Nitin Desai and music by Shreyas- Preet are the other credits of the film.

‘Cheater’ first look poster unveiled
Film maker Ajay Phansekar, who has shot 70% of his forthcoming Marathi film ‘Cheater’ in Mauritius, recently completed the last schedule of his shooting in Pune. Now, he is getting ready to release his film on 1st April 2016. As part of his film’s first promotion, he recently released the first look poster of his film, starring Vaibhav Tatwawadi in lead role. The film also stars Hrishikesh Joshi, Pooja Sawant, Aasavari Joshi,Suhas Joshi and others.
Highlight of this film is ‘Jhakri’ form of dance and two songs rendered by popular Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam, on the music of Abhijit Narvekar. The other songs are rendered by popular Marathi singers Avadhoot Gupte, Urmila Dhangar & Anandi Joshi. The film’s story, screenplay and dialogues are written by Ajay himself, with camera handled by B.Laxman.
It’s time for Girish Kulkarni to prove his ability as director
We have already seen what Girish Kulkarni can do, as an actor and writer in Marathi. With his friend Umesh Kulkarni, he has also produced memorable Marathi films. Now, Girish will be seen in a new role of director in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Jaundya na Balasaheb‘ ,shooting of which is complete and the film’s post production work began on the auspicious Sankranti day.
‘Jaundya na Balasaheb‘ is also debut film of Music director duo Ajay Atul, as producers. This being their own film, much is expected from the music of this film, which is a socio- political film. Moreover, other big names are also associated with this film, comprising of Poonam Shende, Umesh Kulkarni, Pashant Pethe , Anumati and Vijay Ganu.
Besides Girish Kulkarni, other lead artistes of the film are Mohan Joshi, Reema, Dilip Prabhavalkar , Sai Tamhankar and others. The film will be released soon.
The Trailer of ‘Poshter Girl’ unveiled
Forthcoming Marathi film ‘Poshter Girl’ has been creating a buzz on social networking media. On Thursday , the official trailer of this film was unveiled in presence of media persons and entire star cast of the film. The centre of attraction was lead actress Sonalee Kulkarni, who is playing title role in ‘Poshter Girl‘. From the trailer, it clearly indicates that the film offers a social message, through its fun filled story, which is written by actor Hemant Dhome, who is also part of this film.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Ajit Andhare COO of Viacom18 Motion Pictures said, “After doing many Bollywood films, we would like to explore the Marathi Film industry, which is growing , with subject oriented films. Milind Gawali’s dream will come true on 29th January
He has been in the acting field since 1984. As a child artist, he began his acting career with the film ‘Hum Bachhe Hindustan Ke’, followed by a memorable roles in ‘Saraswatichandra’ fame director Govind Saraiya’s film ‘Waqt Se Pahele’ and B.R.Ishara’s film ‘Anumati’. Later, when he appeared in Hindi serial ‘Campus’, Milind Gawali earned name and fame as an actor. Later, he appeared in several Hindi and Marathi serials, connecting well with the home viewers.
While doing TV serials, Milind Gawali was also flooded with offers from Marathi films and he began with V.K.Naik’s ‘Khel Nashibache’, followed by ‘Suun Ladaki Sasarchi’ for the same film maker. Then, it was Satish Randive’s ‘Nilambari’ and Mahesh Manjrekar’s ‘Aai’. He also performed in Priyadarashan’s Malyalam film ‘Aryan’. His roles in films like ‘Maratha Batalion’, ‘Devki’ & ‘Vitthal Vitthal’ turned out to be hit. Later, he performed in about 40 rural based films, becoming a popular hero in Western Maharashtra. Many of his films were women oriented, thus becoming favourite of many female audience.
But, after performing in so many films, Milind’s dream was to produce his own film. And, when he found a suitable script, he went ahead by directing it himself, using all his experience in this field. Now, his film ‘Athang’ also on a woman oriented subject is ready and is all set to release on 29th January 2016, when Milind will see his dream come true. Milind Gawali himself is playing an important role of a doctor with other known artistes like Smita Shewale, Tanvi Hegde, Pooja Nayak, Mausumi Hadkar and others. Priya Marathe to appear on big screen with ‘Vighnaharta Mahaganapati’
Popular television actress Priya Marathe was ready with her two films, ‘1234’ directed by Milind Kavade and Rajesh Chavan’s film ‘Vighnaharta Mahaganapati’ in the last quarter of last year itself. But, their release was postponed for some reason or the other. Now, her first film ‘Vighanaharta Mahaganapati’ is all set to release on 19th February 2016. The film is about the faith many people in Maharashtra have in Lord Ganapati. The film is set on the backdrop of ‘Khavle Mahaganapati’, whose oldest temple is located in a village called Taramumbari in Devgad district of Maharashtra. The place known for delicious mangoes, is also famous for this 314 year old temple, which finds its entry in Limca Book of Records.
In this film Priya has a prominent role and the other artistes of this film are Tej Rane, Alka Kubal, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Vijay Chavan, Sharad Ponkshe, Ashalata Wabgaonkar, Jayant Savarkar & others. This film is produced by Suryakant Khavle and has an interesting story written by director Rajesh Chavan himself, which is linked to the faith in this 314 year old idol of Mahaganapati at Devgad. Sameer Athalye is the cinematographer of this film and the music has been composed by Chaitanya Adkar.
‘Partu’ and ‘Halal’ to be screened in Competition section of PIFF
We are all aware that the most prestigious Pune International Film Festival is presently going on in Pune. Earlier, we had heard about screening of Marathi films like ‘Kaul’, ‘Highway’, ‘Ranga Patanga’, ‘Natasamraat’ and ‘Ringan’ to be screened in the competitive section of Marathi films. But, now we understand that two more Marathi films, namely ‘Partu’ directed by Nitin Adsul and ‘Halaal’ directed by national award winning director Shivaji Lotan Patil is also being screened in this competition section of PIFF.
Many films from different countries are also being screened in the international film’s section, besides some special sections. In ‘Marathi Cinema Today’ section, films like ‘Ganvesh‘, ‘The Silence’, ‘Bho Bho’, ‘Anuraag’ & ‘Aakrandan’ will also be screened. The festival will go on till 21st January 2016. From this year onwards, PIFF Bazar will be a new section, to enable films to market their films.
‘Astu’ to be released in a proper way, with ‘Co-funding’
We have seen the progress of Marathi films, inviting the attention of the audience from different parts of the world. But, there are many such Marathi films, which have won prestigious awards, including national awards; which could not reach the local audience in Maharashtra. The reason being simple. The producers of these films could not find distributors to release their films in theatres. One such film is ‘Astu’.
‘Astu’ could be released last year only in one cinema hall in Pune, for this reason. This film is directed by reputed directors like Sumitra Bhawe and Sunil Sukathankar and is produced by Sheela Rao ( Gaurika films) and Dr. Mohan Agashe. Besides producing this film, Dr.Mohan Agashe has also played a lead role in this film, along with other artistes like Amruta Subhash , Devika Daftardar, Milind Soman , Irawati Harshe & Nachiket Purnapatre. The film has presented the story of a retired officer, who is a patient of alzheimers.
Now, good news for those who are interested in watching this film in theatres, is that the film will be released, by using the co-funding method. This concept has been successful for other regional films, especially in the south. Rajat Kapoor’s Hindi film ‘Bheja Fry’ was released with this method. According to Producer Sheela Rao , Mr Satish Kataria form ‘Catapult’ has taken this initiative. Through this process funds will be collected from common people , for producing or releasing the film and is also called ‘crowd funding’. But, for releasing the film, the most appropriate word would be ‘Co-funding’. And, ‘Astu’ will be the first Marathi film, to be released in this manner.
