An afternoon with the unit of ‘Eka kshanaat’

Not many Marathi Drama producers are keen to invite the media for the rehearsal of their play, before its actual launch day. But, Producer Uday Dhurat of Mauli Productions and director Sharad Ponkshe, who is making his debut as a director, seemed confident about their presentation. It was a pleasure to watch the important scenes with proper setting, lighting and music, besides witnessing the wonderful performances by the main artistes.
In this action packed interesting play, Sharad Ponkse himself is playing lead role opposite Ashwini Ekbote. ‘Mala Sasu Haviy’ TV serial fame Sachin Deshpande plays an important role of a Psychiatrist in this play along with another actor Suchet Savai. In any Marathi play, set design, background music and lighting play a very role. But, in this drama, the director has also used Audio Visual presentation to create more interest in the play. Therefore Rajan Tamhane, who is in charge of lighting effect was busy during this rehearsal, supervising the impact of the same.
Writer Sandeep Jangam who has already succeeded as a writer, while Speaking about the story of this play, Sandeep said that he had focused on the series of events taking place around in the city and how it affected the members of a family. “Writing for stage plays is more challenging, as interest should be generated among the audience, by unfolding the happening of events in proper order,” he said.
Speaking about his debut as a director, Mr. Sharad Ponkshe did admit that this play and role in it was offered to him by his favourite producer almost a year ago. “I was not sure about accepting the same, as I wanted some changes. Therefore, I suggested that I would perform in this play, provided I was also given a chance to direct this play. With subsequent sittings with producer and writer, finally we decided on final script under my direction,” he concluded.
Sachin Deshpande, who plays a Psychiatrist in this play, had just returned from the sets of his TV serial ‘Mala Sasu Haviy’, immediately joined the unit to help his co artistes, to offer feedback about their entries and exits. “ I accepted this role, as I found this play very interesting. I am glad that I am part of this team,” he said. The entire focus during this rehearsal was on Ashwini Ekbote, as the actress was rehearsing for the most important scenes in this play, where she was expected to come out with her emotions spontaneously, at every given situation. And, the versatile actress, proved that she was ready for the auspicious launch day of Dasera, on 24th October 2012 . Ashwini did give those most difficult three scenes in the company of her co-star Sharad Ponkshe, who was at ease and enjoying every moment, being the director. During every break he complimented his team and discussed about minor changes required with his sound and light experts.
Set design by Ajay Pujari and music by Ashok Patki are other credits of this play. One thing is sure that the production quality and remarkable performances will win the hearts of the theatre audience. ‘Shivaji-The real Hero’ to release in four languages

Generally, we find action filled south Indian films being released in three or four languages at a time. But, now a new Marathi film ‘Shivaji- The real Hero’ will be released in four languages at a time. Produced by Sadashiv Patil and directed by Shaktishankar, this film will be simultaneously released in three other languages i.e. Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, besides Marathi.
Recently audio CD release of this film took place in presence of Bollywood producer – director K.C. Bokadia, when besides the unit members of this film, Ms. Sushma Shiromani was also present. This film is an action film, which revolves around a murder mystery. Bharat jadhav plays the role of Police Inspector in this film. Other other star cast of the film comprises of Siddharth Jaju, Manisha Kelkar, Megha Ghadge, Niranjan, Gurudatt Lad, Dilip Sandvilar and Rashidbhai.
‘Langar’ team appear during the press show

Generally, not all the artistes of the film are present for the press show. But, when Writer director Sandeep Manohar Navare and the producer of the forthcoming Marathi film ‘Langar’ invited the media for the press show on Tuesday afternoon, it gave a feeling, as if it was a Premire of the film. All the main artistes of this film including unit members were present, with capacity packed preview theatre . Those present on the occasion were, Manva Naik, Kishori Shahane Vij, Vinay Apte, Ravi Kale, Pankaj Vishnu besides the producers and technical team members .
While other artistes narrated their own experiences, Mr. Sandeep Navare was happy to thank the entire team for their excellent performances. While speaking to Marathi Movie world, he said that ‘Langar’ was a realistic film, based on a novel ‘Vaghya Murali’ written by social worker Dr. Anil Avachat. “I have given cinematic presentation to this story, with my own research. The film will take part in two film festivals in days to come.” he said. Dr. Avchant also makes a guest appearance in this film. Ravi Kale who plays an important role in this film, seemed to be in a happy mood, as this was his successive film after proving his capacity as an actor in ‘Pipani’ released only last week.
According to the director, the film has been shot in 12 day start to finish shooting at Sangali. “We have also shot few scenes at Jejuri.” he added.
‘Thoda Tujha Thoda Majha’ launched with muhurat

The latest technology has kept the young generation so busy that they hardly time for communication with their parents. They can chat for hours on internet and are busy using their mobile phones. To reduce this generation gap, new Marathi film ‘Thoda Tujha Thoda Majha’ produced and directed by Anil Kakade, will try to find some solution.
Recently, the Muhurat of this film took place, announcing the launch of this film by Pankaj Udhaas, popular Ghazal singer. Present on the occasion were artistes of the film Ajinkya Deo, Varsha Usgaonkar, Sulbha Deshpande, Ashok Samarth and popular Bollywood actor Anupam Kher, who plays a different kind of role in this film. Pankaj Udhaas makes his debut as a singer in Marathi films, through this film.
The film also presents new face Nikhil Kakade along with two new faces Tanvi Parab and Natasha Punawala, who are also making their debut.
Grand launch of ‘Shree Partner’ Music

Script is the spirit of Marathi films. And if it is based on the popular writer’s novel, it adds to the advantage of the film. Producer- director Sameer Ramesh Surve’s debut film ‘Shree Partner’ is based on Vapu Kale’s popular story ‘Partner’. To give a cinematic look to this story, Mr. Surve has acquired rights from V.P. Kale’s daughter Swati Chandorkar.
On Friday evening, Music CD of this film was released on a grand scale, in presence of main artistes of the film and the entire team behind the music. While Swapnil Bandodkar presented a song live, Music director Nilesh Mohrir and lyricist Ashwini Shende narrated their experience during each composition. Director Sameer Surve repeatedly thanked Mr. Ashok Patki, chief guest of the function for recommending the right team for music of this film. He also praised Music arranger and background music provider Nilesh Dahanukar, for taking special efforts.
The film has four songs rendered in the voices of Swapnil Bandodkar, Bela Shende and Madhushree. Satish Pulekar who plays the central role of Partner, was the first choice of the director and he retained him, though he was suggested by many people to replace him with other popular actor. Satish himself made the revelation, during his speech. “I have tried my best, so don’t compare me with the writer, who played this character himself on stage, during his time,” said the veteran actor. The role of Shree is played by talented stage actor Padmanabh Bind, who has performed in many Marathi plays and also received Best actors award for his role in experimental play ‘Ek Rikami Baju’. The role of Kiran is played by newcomer Shweta Pagar, a product of Anupam Kher’s acting school. Veteran actress Lalan sarang plays an important role in this film.
Deepali Vichare has handled the choreography of this film, while Cinematography is by Sandeep Dhumal. The other artistes of the film are Deepak Kadam, Akanksha Mehendale, Anand Panse,Anand Bapat, Rahul Kulkarni, Aarti Patil, Duinesh kanade, Mandar Pathak, Kushal Koli, Dr. Sanjeevkumar Patil, Vidyadhar Paranjape,Shalmalee Pethe, Shivani kamat, Sameer dalvi, Dilip Awhad with Child artistes Arnav Joshi and Tanaya Pratap Rokade. The film is due for release on 24th October 2012.
‘Mata Janaki Puraskar’ for Sudha Abhyankar

Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad, Pune Branch, have announced this year’s ‘Mata Janaki Lifetime Achievement award’ to Ms. Sudha Abhyankar. A former actress, she is the mother of popular stage-TV and film actor Madhav Abhyankar.
The announcement of this award comes as a biggest gift from a mother to her son. “Today is my 50th Birthday and there cannot be a better gift than this news,” reacted Mr. Madhav Abhyankar, while speaking to MMW. Within an hour after Mr. Madhav Abhyankar disclosed this good news, hundreds of well wishers congratulated him on this occasion on his FB page.
Raju Mawani’s marathi film debut through ‘Night School’

Today, many Bollywood personalities are coming forward to perform in Marathi films. The latest addition is Raju Mawani. Having performed prominent roles in bollywood films like ‘Satya’, ‘Wanted’ and ‘Kya Yahi Sach Hai’, Raju Mawani also directed films like ‘Suraksha’ and ‘Iski topi Uske Sar’. Now, he is all set to make his debut through forthcoming Marathi film ‘Night School’ directed by Mansingh Pawar.
In this film Raju is playing the role of a builder. The film stars Sandeep Kulkarni, Prasad Pande, Shrikant Yadav, Anveya Kendre, Deepa Chaphekar, Raju Govilkar, Shivraj Valvekar, Ashit Ambekar and 40 children from a Night school.
Kristin makes her film debut with ‘Pipani’

Females from foreign countries seem to be more interested in Marathi films. First, it was Billiona Rodonich making her debut with Marathi film ‘Foreign Chi Patlin’. Then, producer director Samruddhi Porey engaged Stacy Bee to play an important role in ‘Mala Aai Vhaychay’. And now, we find Kristin Piesker from Germany, making her film debut through Gajendra Ahire’s new Marathi film ‘Pipani’, which is all set to release on 12th October 2012.
Kristin was present during the press show of this film in Mumbai and was all excited to watch her performance on screen, in presence of other artistes of the film Kranti Redkar, Vaibhav Mangale and Hemangi kavi, who were seated next to her. Kristin plays the role of a Hollywood film director in this film, who is making a film to capture the real situation in a village in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, known for farmer’s suicides.
While speaking to Marathi Movie World, after the show, Kristin said that she was more than happy to see the good team work in this film. “I was lucky to find this role through Dr. Mohan Agashe, who recommended me to film maker Gajendra Ahire, who was looking for someone like me, associated with film making. My involvement during the Pune Film festival as a delegate, helped me to interact with people from Marathi film industry, who were all good to me. I liked Maharashtrian culture, during my nine month stay in Pune. I have seen few sensible marathi films, but don’t remember their names,” she concluded.
‘Aasa Mee Ashi Tu’ launched with muhurat

After his success in film like ‘Zenda’, ‘Arjun’ and, actor Sachit Patil has been signed by ‘Ticha Baap Tyacha Baap’ fame Director Atul Kale for his new marathi film ‘Aasa Mee Ashi Tu’. Muhurat of this film was held in Mumbai on Thursday.
Pallavi Subhash will play the leading lady opposite Sachit Patil in this film, which has a base with a love story. Story and screenplay of this film has been penned by Atul kale along with Ashih Raikar and Sachit Patil. Dialogues to be written by Sachin Darekar. Kedar Gaekwad will handle the film’s cinematography. Atul kale himself along with Latika Gore and child artiste Athrva Bedekar play other important characters in the film.
Ajinkya’ first look to be released

For the first time in Marathi cinema, we will find conflict in the life of a Basketball coach. This film produced by Navlakha Arts Media and Entertainment & S.K. productions will be directed by Tejas Deoskar. The first look of this film is being released shortly. The film stars Sandeep Kulkarni, Kadambari Kadam, Sarika Nilatkar, Rajan Bhise and Pravin Tarde.
Tejas Deoskar has himself scripted the story of this film. For the screenplay and dialogues, he has taken help from Gautam Poddar and Praveen Tarde respectively. The film’s music has been composed by Susmet Limaye on the lyrics of Vaibhav Joshi. Cinematography is by Abhijit Abde.
