ABMNP- Borivali present popular awards with Kalarajani 2012

Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natyaparishad, Borivali Branch presented their annual awards to renowned personalities from Marathi entertainment, for their excellence in respective fields. On this occasion, the hosts had organized a programme ‘Kalarajani 2012′, presenting different forms of Dances ‘Sujalam Sufalam Bharat’ from 28 states in India. It was a wonderful presentation of Indian art, which was appreciated with overwhelming audience response.
When the Lifetime achievement award was announced for veteran actress Ashalata, for her contribution to Marathi theatre. The actress, who has served the Marathi entertainment industry for the past 55 years; arrived on the stage, with folded hands, responding to this big honour, Ashalata said that generally Life Time Achievement awards are given at a time when the artistes prefers to retire from the profession. But, this award will only boost my confidence to keep performing better in near future. Her award was sponsored by Mr. Uday Rajeshirke, from CID Crime Branch Mumbai, in memory of Baliram Krishnaji Rajeshirke.
Other three Marathi actresses who were honoured on this occasion were Ms. Nayana Apte with SwarRangraj Award, Ms. Madhura Velankar Satam with RangPratibha award and Megha Ghadge with Lokrang award. In absence of Megha, her award was received by her brother Sagar. Mr. Gopal Shetty, the popular BJP MLA, who was the chief guest, presented the awards and also assured the hosts for any help in kind in near future. Another MLA Vinod Ghosalkar also offered a donation of Rs. 1 lakh to ABNP, Borivali and handed over the cheque to their president Vinod Shah. Veteran actor Pradeep kabre, Vice President of the Borivali Unit of ABNP , played the anchor of the show.
Others who were also felicitated with cash award and a trophy were Ms. Sushma Hippalgaonkar (Swarabhinay Award), Mr. Arun Kakade( Rangaprayog award) , Mr. Anant More ( Rangsaaz award) and Mr. Vijay Tari (karyarang Award). The invitation for this Grand function came from an enthusiastic Mr. Anil Idurkar, member of ABNP, Borivali.
Mahesh Kothare celebrates his birthday with a Grand launch of ‘Zapatlela 2′

Renowned film maker of Marathi films Mahesh Kothare had something special to share with the Press on his birthday. So, he had invited them to ND Studios, karjat, where he not only celebrated his birthday; but also launched his new film ‘Zapatlela 2′ which is a sequel to his hit film of 1993 with the same title. Always trying to experiment something different with his every new film, this time he will be shooting entirely with 3D technology, for the first time in Marathi cinema.
For this purpose, he has engaged Enrique Criado, the famous Spanish technician, for the 3D Stereography and 3D Consultation, though Suresh Deshmane will be handling cinematography. Prime focus will be providing SFX and complete 3D support to this film. ‘Zapatlela 2′ will be a prestigious project for Kothare and Kothare Vision, as it will be presented by Select Media Holdings and the marketing and distribution responsibility to be shared by Fox Star Studios, the Indian arm of 20th Century Fox, the famous Hollywood production.
Speaking on the occasion, the birthday boy Mahesh, who is directing this film; thanked his partners in film production and specially thanked Mr. Nitin Chandrakant Desai, who opened the doors of his ND studios, for the entire 40 day schedule of his film beginning from 4th October 2012. He also thanked Mr. Ramdas Padhye, his son Satyajit and Ms. Padhye for recreating the most important character in this film – Tatya Vinchu. Mr. Chandrakant Desai, who was seated next to him, said that it was his privilege to offer his studio to Mahesh Kothare who is so much passionate about consistently producing quality Marathi films for the past 25 years.
Nitin Desai, N D Studio KarjatOn this occasion Mahesh Kothare shot the muhurat scene on the lead pair Adinath and Sonalee at the temple set in the studio.After Guest Nitin Desai gave a clap, Actress Vishakha Subhedar rang the temple bell and Mr. Ramdas Padhye appeared from behind displaying his puppet ‘Tatya Vinchu’ at the end of the scene. But, prior to that Adinath indicated that in this sequel, he was playing the character of Adinath Bolke son of the character played by Laxmikant Berde in the original film. Sonalee introduced her character as Megha Satarkar indicating that she was a dancer.
Dialogues of the film are written by Ashok Patole, besides helping Mahesh in the screenplay; while Avadhoot Gupte will compose the music of this film. Besides Adinath and Sonalee, the star cast of the film comprises of Saie Tamhankar, Madhu kambikar, Raghavendra kadkoi, Vijay Chavan and Makarand Anaspure. The voice over for the puppet ‘Tatya Vinchu’ will be provided by Dilip Prabhavalkar.
Ashutosh Rana to play ‘Sankasur’

Ashutosh Rana seems to be enjoying his stint with Marathi cinema. After shooting for the lead role in Kishore Belekar’s ‘Yeda Appa’, he has now been signed by Producer Kuldeep Pednekar and director Dnyaneshwar Margaj’s new film ‘Sankasoor’ which was launched today evening at Swatantraveer Savarkar auditorium, with a musical entertaining programme in the form of ‘Dahavtaar’.
The surprise announcement of the lead hero of this film was made by director Dnyaneshwar Margaj. ‘Sankasur’ is inspired from the famous ‘Dahavtaar’ act performed in Konkan. Incidentally, the producer of this film is also from Konkan . Director Dnyaneshwar Margaj, who has scripted many TV serials and directed two TV serials like ‘Ek Wadaa Zapatlela’ and award winning ‘Nivdung’, is all excited to direct this film, which is also scripted by him.
Sad demise of film maker Sajay Surkar

Well known Marathi film maker Sanjay Surkar is no more. He suffered a massive heart attack, while shooting for Padmini Kolhapure’s film ‘Lathi’. He was admitted to Ratna Hospital, Pune, but he had breathed his last. His body has been taken to his house and will be kept for Public darshan at Tilak Smarak around 5 pm and thereafter his funeral will take place at Vaikunth Dham, Pune. A national award winning director, Sanjay Surkar had given some of the best Marathi films since 1991 with ‘Chaukat Raja’, followed by the success of ‘Aai Shapath’, ‘Saat Chya Aat Gharat’, ‘Ek daav Sansaracha’, ‘Anandache Zaad’ and ‘Sukhant’.
Mr. Surkar also offered some best TV serials like, ‘Avantika’, ‘Sukannya’ and ‘Oon Paus’. Recently he also directed a Hindi film ‘Standby’ which was Adinath Kothare’s debut as a hero in Hindi films. ‘Saad’ releases first look to the Media

Producer director Hemant Dabadhe and script writer Deepak Deolkar played host, while releasing the first look of their forthcoming marathi film ‘Saad’ to the media; yesterday evening at Hotel Kohinoor, Prabhadevi. While Mr. Dabhade preferred to speak less about his film, except for thanking Mr. Deolkar for helping him in the project. It was Mr. Deolkar, who went on to narrate some of the finer points in this emotion based film, which talks about a young boy who comes from Malaysia, to meet his biological mother after 23 years.
“How will the Mother react ? What will be going in the mind of the youngster? And, whether his foster parents, who took care of him for past 23 years, will like the idea of the reunion between real mother and son? This is what the film has tried to elaborate,” he said. The hero of the film Analesh, however went on to narrate some funny incidences, during the shooting of the film. “I was feeling shy to wear the short swim wear in a particular shot, which shows my entry with the leading girl; but when I noticed the reason behind it, I thanked my director,” he said. Leading lady of the film Avantika, praised the work culture of the entire unit, during the shooting schedule and expressed her happiness over successful completion of the film. “Now, I am looking forward eagerly for the film’s release on 5th October 2012, with lot of excitement,” she added.
While speaking to MarathiMovieworld, after their introduction, both Analesh and Avantika, posed for exclusive photos and had a chit chat recalling their experience during the film’s shooting schedule. “We received a very good treatment from the unit and even the senior stars. It was a great experience!” they said.
Besides these two newcomers, who were introduced to the press, no other artistes or technical people were present at the podium. The film has been shot in Malaysia besides some locations in a village, city and indoors. Its star cast comprises of Analesh Desai, Avantika Salian, Ila Bhate, Arun Nalwade, Yatin karyekar, Prasad Pandit, Ravi Patwardhan, Sanjivani Jadhav, Bhagyashree Rane, Vivek Pandkar, Yashwant Chopde, Mayur Pawar and Redhi. Cinematography by Manjunath B Nayaka, original story by Anand Mhasvekar, Story development and screenplay by Deepak Deolkar and Aarti Desai,dialogues by Deepak Deolkar and Anand Mhasvekar, Lyrics by Aarti desai and Music by Arwind Haldipur are the other credits. Cinematographer Rajan Kothari is no more

Renowned cinematographer of Hindi and Marathi films, Rajan Kothari is no more. he passed away at his Mumbai residence today evening around 8.30 pm. He was 60. He is survived by his mother, wife and two children. A FTII Graduate, Rajan kothari had done cinematography of some well known projects like ‘Ghayal’, ‘Zubeida’, ‘Page 3′, ‘Godmother’, ‘Ek Krantiveer- Vasudev Balwant Phadke’, ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’, ‘Rustomjee’, ‘Samar’ and the recent marathi film ‘Tukaram’. He was busy with his ongoing project. Speaking about him, his student and cinematographer Nikhil Idurkar said that he was a gem of a person.” I had the privilege to learn so many technacalities about cinematography from him at Whistling Woods’, where he was my teacher,” said Nikhil.
His funeral is likely to take place day after tomorrow, as the family is waiting for the arrival of close relatives. Marathi Movie World pays sincere tributes to his departed soul.
Dum Asel Tar-Shankar’s fight against injustice

At present we find so many agitations taking place in the social and political circles, where youngsters are in the forefront. Right from collegiate level to corporate sector, we find youngsters speaking openly against injustice. This is also visible through their frank comments on social networking sites.
The change observed in the youth of this country has been clearly shown in the forthcoming Marathi film ‘Dum Asel Tar’ produced by Sagar Sankude and directed by Vijay Gokhale. Story of this film, which revolves around the youth of today, goes on to send a strong message to the society, as to how the youth of this country can bring in the desired change, if they unite together against injustice. The hero of this film Shankar is the product of Subhash Ghai’s ‘Whistling Woods’ acting school and is making his debut through this film in the company of popular artistes like Manva Naik, Smita Shewale, Uday Tikekar, Mohan Joshi, Shubhangi Latkar, Vighnesh Joshi, Vijay Gokhale and Anant Jog. The theme of this film, which is timely, is all set to release on 28th September 2012.
‘Dum Aasel Tar’ is a timely film – Vijay Gokhale

Producer Sagar Ramchandra Sakunde and director Vijay Gokhale addressed a press conference on Saturday 22nd evening at Hotel Kohinoor, Prabhadevi, to present the first look of their forthcoming sensational film ‘Dum Asel Tar’. During this event, they introduced their hero Shankar along with other artistes, besides showing the clippings and songs from the film.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vijay Gokhale made it very clear that ‘Dum Asel Tar’ was a timely film, revolving around a youngster, who comes to India to attend a ceremony; and meets with an unfortunate event in his life. His conscience forces him to help a family, who suffer a loss because of him. The hero of our film is the best example to the society, who otherwise feel that today’s young generation is selfish and self centered. Our film’s hero takes on all challenges in his life and tries to help all, in his own style. Finally, he has to land himself into politics to face the opposition of politicians. Our film will send across a message about the role of young generation to bring in the desired change in the society,” he said.
Producer Sagar Sakunde, in his short speech appealed to the media to spread the film’s theme to people all over Maharashtra. “ I was highly impressed by the appeal of the new hero and suggested Mr. Vijay Gokhale to not only direct my film; but, also find a suitable script to suit his debut. And Mr. Advait Dadarkar helped us find a suitable script’” he said. Actress Smita Shewale said that she was all excited with the role she was offered. “ I have done nine films in past six years; but, this role is the best,” she said.
Shankar, whose real name is Shankar Shingare, is a product of Subhash Ghai’s ‘Whistling Woods’ Acting school, was dressed up like a Rock star, indicating the arrival of a Mod hero in Marathi film industry. Mr. Anant Jog, who entered the venue with all his shirt buttons open; had to give the real reason behind it, when Programme host Smita Gavankar poked him, while introducing him. “I am suffering from an allergic reaction due to excess heat in the body and hence I am dressed up like this,” he clarified. Others present on the occasion were Cinematographer Sameer Athlye, Veteran Ravi Patwardhan and entire unit of the film. The film is all set to release on 28th September 2012.
Sandeep Kulkarni returns with ‘Night School’

Known for some of his best performances in films like ‘Shwaas’, ‘Dombivali Fast’, ‘Sane Guruji’, ‘Bedhund’, ‘Made In China’ and ‘Pratisaad’, renowned actor Sandeep Kulkarni had switched over for a while to TV serials and Hindi films. But, now he is back again in Marathi films through his upcoming film ‘Night School’. Directed by Mansingh Pawar on his own script, the film will present Sandeep in the lead role of a social worker, who starts a Night school to spread education among the poor children.
According to Mansingh Pawar, the story of this film is the backbone and he has tried to spread a message to the society through this Big screen of entertainment. Produced by Raju Mawani, the film’s other star cast comprises of Prasad Pandit, Shrikant Yadav, Anway Bendre, Deepa Chaphekar, Raju Govilkar, Shivraj Walvekar, Ashit Ambekar, Raju Mawani and 40 children from a Night school. Music by babru Bhosale, Camera by Prakash Shinde and editing by Paresh Manjrekar are the other credits. The film has completed its entire shooting and ins in the post production stage.
Bhojpuri Star Ravi-Kishan to appear in a Marathi film

Bhojpuri Superstar Ravi-Kishan is soon scheduled to play an important role of a journalist in a Marathi film. This Marathi feature film ‘Madhyamvarga – Middle Class’ presented under the banner of Vasan Arts Media Pvt. Ltd, is being produced jointly by Mrs. Laxmi Babaji Anjarlekar and Sanjay Gopal Chabriya.
Directed by Mr. Harry Fernandes, the muhurta of this film was held recently, in presence of artistes and technicians of this film. Popular Marathi artiste Siddhartha Jadhav is appearing as a Police Inspector along with Ravi-Kishan. Among the other artistes in important roles are, Nayana Apte, Nisha Parulekar, Kashmira Kulkarni and Anant Jog.
Conceived by ‘Vasant-Sanjay’, the story of the upcoming Marathi feature film ‘Madhyamvarga – the Middle Class’ is the brainchild of Harry Fernandes, while the cinematography is being handled by Shafiq Sheikh with Arvind Tyagi as its able and competent editor. Badshah Khan is looking after the costumes. Gunawant Sen will compose music and the songs have been penned by Babasaheb Saudagar and Sawanta Gawal.i The action scenes being directed by R.P. Yadav. Vasant Abaji Anjarlekar, Mrs. Shafi, Sanjay Adhav, and S. Pramod are the Executive Producers of this film.
