Yere Yere Pavsa’ showered with nominations and awards at Tokyo
Marathi film ‘YeRe YeRe Pavsa’ which was showered with several nominations in different categories like Best feature film, direction, editing, music, concept, cinematography and sound design at the 6th Top Indie Film Awards, Tokya, Japan; has won two awards, namely Best cinematography and Best Sound design. This is a proud moment for film maker Shafaq Khan who has directed this film, which is based on the story of a happy moment witnessed during the arrival of monsoon.
Reacting to this happy moment, the director Shafaq Khan has stated that his purpose of making this film and delivering a good message has been fulfilled with these awards. Earlier, his film had also received appreciation at the Toronto , Canada film fest. The film has been produced by Shariq Khan and Satya Shetty, Gyanchand Chouhan & Sumedh Gaikwad are executive producers of this film. Cinematography is by Yogesh M Koli, editing by Chandan Arora, Sound by Chakir Hussain & Art by Yogesh Ingale. Sushant Pawar and Kishore Pawar have composed music of this film on the lyrics of Amol Powle. Renowned singers Avadhoot Gupte and Swapnil Bandodkar have rendered their voices for the songs in this film.
‘Lata Shruti Sanvaad’ book Cover unveiled on her birthday
Music plays a very important role in the lives of people, especially in India. In Maharashtra we are all proud that we have one such singer who created a new milestone with her magical voice. Yes, Lata Mangeshkar offered variety while presenting songs in different forms, be it Classical, folk or romantic; she put her heart into every song she rendered. There is a lot to be written about her songs which have influenced music lovers over the years.
There are many books written on this Nightingale of India, but now Ajay Deshpande will be presenting his book on Lata Mangeshkar which will focus on her Hindustani classical songs from films, which have found place in the hearts of the Indian audience. The book suitably titled Lata Shruti Sanvaad’ will cover her songs based on classical bandish, Bhajan, Tarana , Dadraa, Lori, Thumri mujara and Ghazal with detailed analysis .
On the occasion of Lata Mangeshkar’s 91st birthday the writer has unveiled the cover page of his book, which has been well accepted.

Fine gesture by actress Alka Kubal Athalye
Covid 19 has spread so much of fear in the minds of people that it has not even spared our Marathi film and television industry. The most recent news was that of Ashalata Wabgaonkar succumbing to this deadly ailment, while shooting for a Marathi serial in Satara. Ashatai was admitted to hospital after she along with 27 others on the sets were tested positive. Unfortunately, Ashatai succumbed to this ailment during the treatment. This shows how dangerous is the corona virus and how unsafe it is, to shoot with a big unit.
Latest news received from Satara is that her co star in this serial Alka Kubal Athalye performed the last rites of Ashatai as per her wish. The veteran 79 year old actress had spoken to Alka to do so, in case if the worst situation comes. It is understood that Alka and her husband Samir who is well known cinematographer and film maker, were monitoring Ashatai’s progress while she was in hospital. She had shown signs of improvement but on Tuesday morning she succumbed to this deadly ailment.
At a time when the family members of Ashatai suggested not to bring her deadbody to Mumbai, the last rites performed by Alka Kubal Athlye and her husband (Sameer Athalye) at the Satara’s Balaji Trust Crematorium certainly deserve a lot of appreciation. Sad demise of Veteran Marathi actress Ashalata Wabgaonkar
Renowned veteran actress Ashalata Wabgaonkar, who was still very active with her acting assignments, passed away today morning in Satara, after succumbing to Covid. She was 79. Ashalataji was shooting for a Marathi TV serial in Satara. It is understood that the corona virus was spread through a group of dancers arrived from Mumbai on the sets of this serial due to which 27 more people on the sets of this serial have also been affected.
When Ashalataji was detected with Covid , she was admitted to a local hospital there. But, her condition worsened and was on ventilator support. Today morning she breathed her last. With her passing away, Marathi and Hindi film and television industry has lost a versatile talented actress.
Originally from Goa, she was associated with Goa Hindu Association and began her acting career in Marathi plays through classical play ‘Matsyagandha’ and thereafter went on to perform in many popular plays in the past. She performed in more than 100 Hindi, Marathi and Konkani films besides performing in many TV serials. In Marathi, her best films were Umbartha, Sutradhaar, Vahinichi Maya’ , Maherchi Saadi’ and so on.
Zee Group launch their new music channel ‘Zee Vajwa’
Zee group have launched their new Marathi music channel ‘Zee Vajwa’. An official announcement of its launch was made during the Zee Gaurav Awards 2020 on Zee Marathi channel recently. The Logo of this new music channel was unveiled by artistes Swapnil Joshi and Siddharth Jadhav. The tagline of this channel is ‘Zee Vajawa Kshan Gajawa’ . The aim of this channel is to inspire the audience by keeping them engaged all through their lives.
Speaking on the occasion both Swapnil Joshi and Siddharth Jadhav wished all the success to the channel. Swapnil Joshi in particular said that by creating this platform for the Marathi music lovers , this new music channel has come forward to help the Marathi film producers , directors and singers. Siddharth Jadhav also congratulated the Zee group for launching their new venture. This music channel will come into operation from the month of October 2020.
Marathi film ‘The Disciple’ wins award at Venice International Film Fest
We are all aware that for the few years our Marathi films have been inviting all the attention at different international film festivals, winning awards in different categories. Now, the latest news is that Director Chaitanya Tamhane‘s new film ‘The Disciple’ has won best screenplay award at the Venice International Film festival . This is for the first time that a Marathi film has won such a prestigious award at this international film festival.
It may be recalled that the Venice International Film festival is the oldest international film festival in the history of Cinema, being hosted since 1932. For the past 20 years non of the Indian films were selected for this festival and therefore the selection of ‘The Disciple’ was a big news for India. So, it was not only getting the honour of nomination, but this film has won two awards in ‘International Critics Award’ and ‘Best Screenplay award’.
Chaitanya Tamhane had earlier made a film ‘Court’, which had also received high appreciation. This film ‘The Disciple’ is based on Indian classical music and classical singer Aditya Modak plays the lead role in this film. Speaking about this achievement, Director Chaitanya Tamhane said that he had worked very hard during the making of this film this award has brought a lot of satisfaction.
Muhurat of ‘Aani Ti Saha Patra’ performed
After the big gap of about five months, due to restriction of movements on account of spread of corona virus; now the Marathi film industry is slowly gearing up . Recently, the muhurat of new Marathi film ‘Aani Tee Saha Patre’ was performed in presence makers, artistes, technicians in presence of MLA Aakash Fundkar who was also present as guest of honour.

This film which has a novel subject presented as a suspense thriller, as claimed by the makers, is produced by Tahirnaqash Maner, Nilesh Pande and Swapnil Vengurlekar is written and directed by Devashri Kasture while the cinematography will be handled by Wasimbari Maner. The makers are confident that the film’s subject will be appreciated by the Marathi film lovers. The story revolves around six friends and one woman investigative officer. Soon, the poster of this film will be unveiled and it is understood that many renowned artistes will be performing in this film.
