Sad demise of Veteran Marathi actress Ashalata Wabgaonkar
Renowned veteran actress Ashalata Wabgaonkar, who was still very active with her acting assignments, passed away today morning in Satara, after succumbing to Covid. She was 79. Ashalataji was shooting for a Marathi TV serial in Satara. It is understood that the corona virus was spread through a group of dancers arrived from Mumbai on the sets of this serial due to which 27 more people on the sets of this serial have also been affected.
When Ashalataji was detected with Covid , she was admitted to a local hospital there. But, her condition worsened and was on ventilator support. Today morning she breathed her last. With her passing away, Marathi and Hindi film and television industry has lost a versatile talented actress.
Originally from Goa, she was associated with Goa Hindu Association and began her acting career in Marathi plays through classical play ‘Matsyagandha’ and thereafter went on to perform in many popular plays in the past. She performed in more than 100 Hindi, Marathi and Konkani films besides performing in many TV serials. In Marathi, her best films were Umbartha, Sutradhaar, Vahinichi Maya’ , Maherchi Saadi’ and so on.
