Marathi films have already made their mark at the national and international levels. A noteworthy addition to this canon was made recently by a promising Marathi writer-director Ashish Ningurkar with his short films ‘Niyam’ and ‘Kulupband’. These short films will now be screened in Torrento, Canada. Thanks to an initiative taken by ‘World Globe’, an Organisation founded by a renowned industrialist Fredrie Regon. The online premiere of the films will be followed by a Webinar to discuss various aspects of these artistic endeavours.
Both these short films have been conceived, scripted, shot and directed by Ashish Ningurkar himself. Mrs. Kiran Ningurkar produced them under ‘Kavya Dream Movies’. The starcast of the films includes Ashok Ningurkar, Jayshree Ningurkar, Swaroop Kasar and Anurag Ningurkar. Abhishek Lagas has edited the films.
The shooting of the films was done strictly indoors, during the Lockdown period. The films make an emotional appeal to the viewers to follow the rules to cope with the Corona pandemic. Through them the director wants to pass on a pertinent message that human life is precious and a little haste will snatch it from us. It’s better to stay away from others for the time being.
