Whenever there is a mention of Shyamchi Aai, we tend to remember the faces of Shyam and his mother played by little Madhav Vaze and actress Vanmala respectively in National award winning 1953 Marathi film ‘Shyamchi Aai’  . This film directed by Acharya Atre was based on the emotion filled story of Sane Guruji. Now, Sujay Dahake, who won the National award for his debut film ‘Shaala’ has also announced the film with the same title and has also released the poster of this film, which is also based on the Sane Guruji’s best selling novel.

Sujay has decided to make this film in Black and White and will be showcasing the pre-independence era.  He and his team are presently busy searching statewide the right Maharashtrian boy to essay the character of Shyam in the film. This film will be produced by Amruta Arun Rao and will be directed by Sujay Dahake. They have also made a publicity brochure requesting for boys in the age group of 8 to 12 to perform a one minute monologue and email or WhatsApp it after recording on their mobile phones to the following email and phone number. Parents of the kids are requested to abide by the conditions set by the production company.

 The last date for sending the video is December 30, 2021, after which the contest will come to an end. Out of the contestants, the production company will shortlist ten boys. They will be transported to Mumbai and asked to participate in a three-day acting workshop. Finally, one boy among the ten will be selected to play the role of Shyam in the film.
