Till now, our experts in education department and the Government representatives have ignored the most sensitive issue of rising suicides among children. No one has really bothered to find the exact cause and a solution. But, as they say, media has lot to do. Film making is a very creative filed and if a particular issue is presented properly, it can certainly invite the attention of one and all. A change in our educational system is a long time demand and director Mahesh Manjrekar decided to take on this issue seriously through his latest film ‘Shikshanachya Aaichha Gho’( SAG) .
He did face the opposition before release of his film, for using a konkani slang in the title; but managed the opposition diplomatically. Finally, ‘SAG’ saw the opening day at theatres all over Maharashtra with houseful shows even in multiplexes. A simple story of a teenager from a middle class family ( Saksham Kulkarni) , who is good at cricket but is an average student in his studies. The father ( Bharat Jadhav) who is working in Municipality office, wants his son to do well in his studies too. He does not approve his progress in cricket, as he feels that the game will only come in the way of his studies. One day, he scolds his son for non performance in exams and breaks his bat. He beats up his son and in a scuffle, pushes him away, when the child hits his head against the bed and bleeds turning nconscious. He is rushed to hospital and is operated upon, but does not recover as he moves into coma.
The father repents, but his friends and well wishers in the neighborhood including his daughter(Gauri Vaidya) extend both financial and moral support during this period of crisis. He brings his son back home under the advice of hospital doctor and offers all treatment at home. Finally, one of his friends who is working in a hospital, arranges an operation of his son by a US returned doctor(Mahesh Manjrekar) . The son recovers and the father wins his battle against the education system, with the chief minister giving him assurance to look into this issue. Now, to present this issue, director Mahesh Manjrekar has displayed a good cinematic presentation through touching scenes and hard hitting dialogues to make the audience think seriously about the change
required and instigating the parents to oppose such a system. At the same time, he has tried to convince the parents not to expect too much from their children and encourage them more in the areas of their interest. Very cleverly he has used certain locations to create the desired impact through his 1hour 48 mins long film.
In this film, you will find Bharat Jadhav in a different role. Though there are few scenes to bring in humour, especially in the company of a shop keeper cum money lender Ibrahim( Siddharth Jadhav) and his kind hearted neighborhood friends comprising of Kishore Pradhan and others. The character of Nalini (Kranti Redkar) having soft corner to this family, has been cleverly used to complete the requirement of female lead; as the hero is shown as a widower. And, she has played her part well.
Both the children Saksham and Gauri are proper choice in the film doing their respective roles. The director’s favourite -Sachin Khedekar makes his appearance as the chief minister in that climax scene. Overall presentation of the film is good, with not much scope for music, but clever editing work keeps the audience engaged with the screenplay. The sincere effort of the film maker is to be lauded for taking on this taxing educational system through this film.
The imporatnt changes in our education system at school level the film suggests are:
1) Allowing students with their choice of subjects.
2) Vocational guidance a must at seondary level. &
3) To do away with rank system.

Kedar Promotes ‘Iraada Pakka’ in his own style
Marathi Cinema is also moving in a professional manner, as far as the film’s promotion is concerned. Right from ‘Mi Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy‘ we found this difference, when the powada based song was used in the film’s promotion. Now, film maker Kedar Shinde has used a new approach for promotion of his film ‘Irradaa Pakka’, staring Sonali Kulkarni and Siddharth Jadhav.
Recently, he picturised a song for the film’s promotion, where he had involved about 20 popular artistes along with their spouses. This experiment is first of its kind in Marathi cinema. “The film lovers will be happy to see their favourite artistes with their real life partners together in this song,” feels Kedar. When this song was picturised for two days, Kedar and his wife paid personal attention on all these special invitees, to see that they were comfortable for that event.
Some of the artistes who took part in this special promotional song were veteran Atmaram Bhende, Kishore Pradhan, Ramdas Padhye, Alka Kubal, Bharat Jadhav,Sandeep Kulkarni, Ashok Shinde, Ankush Choudhary, Sumeet Raghavan, Prasad Oak, Vijay Patkar & Shreyas Talpade. ‘Hello- Gandhe Sir!’ – A Bharat Jadhav Vehicle

Presenter: Prabhakar Films Producer: Dyaneshwar Govekar Director: Sandip-Samip Story: Anil Pawar Music: Pravin Kunwar Camera: Sameer Athale Cast: Bharat Jadhav, Dr. Girish Oak, Suhas Palshikar, Mangala Kenkre, Siya Patil, Nayan Jadhav, Vijay Kenkre, Ravindra Berde, Vinay Yedekar… Movie Review by: Sandeep Hattangadi |
Bharat Jadhav is a very saleable name on the marquee today and some of his films are only written for him. Writer Anil Pawar has written ‘Hello-Gandhe Sir’ keeping only Bharat in mind and he delivers in a style.
Gangya (Bharat Jadhav) is a ‘tapori’ kind of guy who wants to enjoy life on his own terms after being physically and mentally abused by an ambitious hawaldar father (Suhas Palshikar) who wants his son to be a Collector, but he turns out to be an academic failure. Fate leads Gangya to a college where he is appointed as a dance teacher but the principal (Dr.Girish Oak) is a strict disciplinarian who hates art forms like acting, dancing, etc. and believes that bookish learning is the only education for the young.
But, Gangya rebels against him and his ideas and in this fight loses his life. He comes back as a ghost and transforms Gandhe Sir into a caring, compassionate, fun loving person. The film in its first half seems to be inspired by films like ‘Sound Of Music’ and ‘Dead Poets Society’ and the latter half resembles the Salman Khan hit ‘Hello Brother’ and the Ashok Saraf’s hit ‘Ek Daav Bhootacha’.
Anyway, the film does entertain and the director duo Sandip Deshpande-Samir Naik make a good debut. The performance by Bharat Jadhav is one of his best in recent times. Dr.Girish Oak is a good choice. Vijay Chavan as ‘mama’ and Ganesh Divekar also produce laughters. Mangala Kenkre, Sia Patil, Nayan Jadhav, Vijay Kenkre, Ravindra Berde and guest actor Vinay Yedekar lend good support.
The cinematography by Sameer Athalye is a bit erratic with brightly lit scenes first and dull scenes later on. But the final product has good technical values. The music score by Pradeep Kunvar is tuneful and the lyrics by Samruddhi Pawar are good. The editing is a bit jerky. The choreography deserves a special mention.

‘ULADHAAL’ REVIEW
Rating: ★★1/2
Producer: Vishwas Films Director: Aditya Sarpotdar Script, Screenplay, Dialogues: Rajesh Kolan,Vijay Patwardhan, Aditya Sarpotdar Camera: Sanjay Nair Music: Ajay-Atul Cast: Makarand Anaspure, Bharat Jadhav, Ankush Chaudhari, Siddharth Jadhav, Lokesh Gupte, Subodh Bhave, Madhura Movie Review by: Jitendra More |
Have you ever watched a Marathi movie with a perfect blend of all the genres of cinema? Well, veteran actors and directors concerned with the future of the industry do not have to worry anymore when there are directors like Aditya Sarpotdar coming up with debut movies like Ulaadhal.
The plot might look simple on paper but the way in which Sarpotdar connects the actors with the storyline is something that shapes up the movie.
Sayajirao’s (Makarand Anaspure) 250-year-old dhaal (shield), which has been safeguarded by generations is stolen by Guru (Subodh Bhave). Guru is helped by Sayajirao’s men after they are promised a share in the money that would come after selling off the dhaal. Guru, however, has other plans. He kills Sayajirao’s men but Baban (Lokesh Gupte) manages to save himself. He chases Guru, who is on his way to Goa to sell the dhaal.
When Sayajirao finds out the betrayal by his men, he determines to kill those who have been disloyal to him.
In Goa, Baban hires small thieves Vickey (Ankush Chaudhary), Bharat Jadhav and their partners in crime, Neha and Preeti (Aditi Sarangdhar and Madhura Velankar) to steal the dhal from Guru. While Sayajirao and his men get hold of Baban, Vickey and his partners fight out their nerves against the brutal Guru. Unable to find Baban, they decide to sell the dhal themselves. They ask Sikandar (Siddharth Jadhav), a dealer in selling stolen items to find a prospect buyer for the dhal. Sikandar ends up narrowing down on Guru. This is where the entire Ulaadhal or commotion begins.
The elements of a commercial cinema like the designer clothes and exotic locations of Goa and Mauritius take the movie a step ahead of the everyday movies. Scriptwriter Rajesh Kolan has maintained the seriousness, humour, and thrill that keep the logical element of the movie in place.
The lead actors Makarand Anaspure, Subodh Bhave, Bharat Jadhav and Ankush Chaudhary have given strong performances. Anaspure has moved nicely from his usual comic roles to a serious man-of-honour, who is proud of his family heritage and is ready to give his life to save the dhal. Bharat Jadhav and Siddharth Jadhav, as a Hydrabadi Kabadiwala add to the comedy element in the story. The appearances of Mahesh Manjrekar as an ‘item number’ and Nirmal Pandey as Tony are unnecessary but add to the glamour. What scores is the music by Ajay- Atul, the lyrics that have a fusion of Marathi, Hindi, and English words and the direction of Sarpotdar. All kudos to the Ulaadhal team.
GALGALE NIGHALE REVIEW
Rating: na
Presentor: Zee Talkies Company: Shree Sai Productions Producers: Bela Shinde Director: Kedar Shinde Music: Ashok Patki, Vaishali Samant Singer: Vaishali Samant Story, Screenplay, Dialogues: Mangesh Kulkarni Cast: Bharat Jadhav, Siddhart Jadhav, Ramesh Deo, Ketakee Thatte, Santosh Mayekar, Kamalakar Saatpute, Vithhal Umap, Sunil Ranade, Archana Gayakwar Movie Review by: Pradip Patil |
Zee talkies and Kedar Shinde, Bharat Jadhav as Galgale, a star cast consiting of Siddharth Jadhav, Ramesh Dev and Vitthal Umap. Everything about ‘Galgale Nighale…’ is Class one, so the expectations are sky high. But unfortunately, it turns out be one the worst films made in recent times. It’s really saddening to see so many talented people associated with such a bad film.
Kedar’s all previous films are known for sheer mind numbing energy which makes you overlook any illogicalities. But this time the film suffers from a lethargy that seems to have affected everyone associated with this movie. At certain times the film seems to take seriousness similar to that of RGV’s Sarkar and for the rest of times it reminds you of Akshay Kumar’s hit Welcome. But throughout those 2.15 hour, the film never finds its own form.
The film falters in every aspect. It has two of the most brilliant actors of current times and yet fails to take the full advantage. The weak story leads to even weaker screenplay. Even the maverick Kedar is out of form this time, It feels as if he has exhausted all his creativity. There are many moments in the cinema that will make you feel why someone even bothered to go ahead with such a silly thing. Characters make appearance for 5- 6 minutes and then disappear, only to reappear later on when you have almost forgotten about them. And I am not talking about secondary characters. All the main characters are treated similarly.
Initially it seems as if the film is attempting an exploration of Galgale’s world and why he behaves in an eccentric way, but this aspect is dealt with just a single scene and then focus shifts to mafia family and love story. There was ample scope to extract funny moments from the conflicts arising because of Galgale’s innocence and the mafia family, instead of that the film incorporates the murder mystery and that too a feeble one.
The intial one hour seems almost unnecessary, the script could have done without involving Galgale’s office in it. The characters and the
scenes from Galgale’s workplace make no worthy contribution to the film. The Galgale’s antics seems torturous after initial few moments.
It offers nothing new. Those who have already seen Galgale in Sahi Re Sahi will be disgusted and those who are watching him for first time will be bored.
The only moment when the film shows some spark is 5 minutes before the interval, when Galgale (Bharat Jadhav) reaches Gauri’s (Ketaki Thatte) house. But it’s just a false hope, the second half is equally bad as the first half. The movie is so dull that the viewers won’t be bothered about anything about that is happening on the screen till the climax is reached, which is infact good for Kedar. Whatever happens during those ending reels is simply ridiculous.
The acting is nothing to write about. Bhara Jadhav as confused Galgale offers nothing new. The rest of the cast is also OK. The dialogs are totally off the mark and add to it the Koli language, it becomes almost impossible to understand what’s happening. The background music is just cheap imitation of some hindi films. One of the song has so loud music track that it’s hard to comprehend the lyrics. Even the makeup seems amaturish.
To sum it up, skip this and wait till the director and his team find their form next time. It’s in the best interest of all !
