Marathi actress Pritam Kagne on Cloud 9
Pritam Kagne, who made her debut in Marathi films in 2013 with ‘Navra Majha Bhavra‘ has performed in a number of films since then, including the award-winning film ‘Halal‘ with National award-winning director Shivaji Loten Patil. In this film, she played the central character along with Priyadarshan Jadhav and Chinmay Mandlekar. Produced by her brother Amol Kagne, this film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival, Goa Film Festival, Pune International Film Festival and Godrej Film Festival. Pritam also acted in Bollywood feature film ’31st October’, which was released in 2016.
Now, her latest Marathi film ‘Ahilya‘ directed by Raju Parsekar is in news. Just two days ago, Pritam received a big surprise in the form of awards received on the same day. And, she shared this happy news with her friends on her social networking page. “Feeling proud and very happy and with immense pleasure I am here sharing this lovely post, Friends with a surprise to me, I have received two awards in one single day, The Sanskruti Kala Darpan Award (Impressive performer female) & Dadasaheb Phalke Award (Promising actress of the year) on 11-5-2019 & our film ‘Ahilya‘ movie got Award as the best social film “.
Lifetime Achievement award for Sarla Yevlekar
Veteran Marathi and Hindi film actress Sarla Yevlekar, was conferred with Life Time achievement award by the Dadasaheb Phalke Marathi Sanskrutik karya Trust, yesterday evening in Mumbai. The award was presented to her by Mr. Kiran Shantaram and Maharashtra Cultural Minister Mr. Vinod Tawde, in presence of many dignitaries from the Marathi film industry and special invitees.
Overwhelmed by this gesture, Sarla Yevlekar thanked the organisers, for selecting her for this award. She also thanked the cultural minister, for his presence and Mr. Kiran Shantaram, for personally presenting this award to her. She talked about her memories and association with late film maker V.Shantaram, father of Mr. Kiran Shantaram. Incidentally, Sarla Yevlekar was part of V.Shantaram’s film ‘Pinjara’.
Dadasaheb Phalke Trust which is headed by Ad. Mohanrao Pingale & Deepali Syed had organised this award event, which is in its third year. Apart from giving awards to the artistes and film makers, they also felicitate technicians and workers in Marathi film industry. The best film award went to ‘Candle March’. Ankush Choudhari and Sumeet Raghavan shared the best actor’s award, while Sonali Kulkarni ( Sr.) received the best actress award. Paresh Mokashi was awarded the best director’s trophy.
Among the other award winners in other categories were, Makarand Anaspure, Varsha Usgaonkar, Prarthana Behere, Aroh Velankar, Pushkar Shrotri, Usha Naik , Sharad kelkar Janhavi Prabhu Arora, Shrikant Bojewar, Guru Thakur, Ajay Atul, Prasad Bhende, Umesh Jadhav & others. The ‘Shramashreya’ awards were presented to Arun Pillai, Balu Kamble, Madhukar Choughule, Vilas Salokhe & Spot Dada Bbalasaheb. Youngsters Siddharth Chandekar & Mrunmayee Deshpande anchored the show, in which besides the awards, some skits and dance items were also presented by Marathi celebrities. Swapni Joshi & Sachit Patil promoted their forthcoming film on this occasion, while Rakesh Bapat & Vaidehi Parshurami performed a dance together, to promote their forthcoming film.
Marathi Film Personalities Felicitated !
The Dadasaheb Phalke Marathi Chitrapat awards were held in a glittering function at the Ravindra Natya Mandir recently. Many artistes like Ramesh Dev-Seema Dev, Ravindra Mahajani, Vijay Chavan, Ashok Shinde, Swapnil Joshi (in absentia) ,Makarand Anaspure, Mahesh Kothare, Arun Nalavde, Technicians like cinematographer Mangesh Sawant, lightmen/art directors Sharad Pol, M. R. Achrekar, choreographers Subal Sarkar, Narendra Pandit,and music director Avdhoot Gupte were presented with bouquets and citations at the hands of WICA chief cinematographer Ashok Mehta.
Congress leader Dhondiraj Waghmare and state education minister Varsha Gaikwad, Journalists Dilip Thakur (Saamana), Sanjay Ghavre (Lokmat), Vaishnavi Kanvinde (Maharashtra Times), PR persons Sanjay Bane, Ganesh Gargote, still- photographer Mohan Loke were felicitated at the hands of eminent actor Ramesh Bhatkar.
Makers of films with commercial values like ‘Rita’, ‘Hello Gandhe Sir’, social values like ‘Umang’, ‘Pratisaad’, ‘Janm’ and those films with rural backdrop like ‘Gosht Dongraevdhi’, ‘Urus’ were also felicitated along with films like ‘Ajoba Vayat Aale’, ‘Kamapurta Vima’, ‘Baap Manus’, and ‘Konti Bayko Karu’ which received a special mention.
The function gained momentum with song and dance performances by Madhavi Nimkar-Abhijeet Kelkar, Rutuja Deshmukh, Madhura Velankar and Umesh Kamath. Mimicry skits brought the house down with Ashish Pawar, Pradeep Patwardhan, Vijay Kadam and Madhavi Juvekar giving their best. Students from Heramb School sang popular songs.
The show was anchored by Dr.Ganesh Divekar and Prachi Pandit. Present on the occasion were Phalke’s third generation descendants Chandrakant Pusalkar and his wife, who too were felicitated and they made an announcement that in future an award will be given to a female director in the name of Phalke’s wife Savitrabai Phule.
Also present on the occasion were Devendra More of Marathi Trade Guide who sponsored the awards and Maharashtra Congress Committee Secretary Shakeel Ansari.
