Based on true story ‘Bandishala’ to release on 21st June

Marathi films based on true stories have always invited the attention of film lovers. Sanjay Krishnaji Patil who won the President’s award for best screenplay in the film ‘Dashakriya‘, is back again as a writer and presenter with his film ‘Bandishala‘ which is directed by Milind Lele. But, what is more important is that renowned Marathi actress Mukta Barve is playing the bold central character of a Lady Prison Officer in this film, which is the highlight of this film.

Incidentally, ‘Bandishala‘ which is based on a strong social subject has been selected by Maharashtra Government for the Cannes Film Festival in France. The film has also been nominated in seven categories in the 56th Maharashtra State Film awards. Sanjay Krishnaji Patil, who has written the story, screenplay, dialogues, lyrics is also the presenter of this film, showing his total involvement in this film. Earlier, he was associated with two other award-winning films like ‘Jogwa‘ & ‘72 Miles‘ as a writer and presenter. Besides Mukta Barve, the film also stars Vikram Gaikwad, Sharad Ponkshe, Hemangi Kavi, Savita Prabhune, Asha Shelar, Pravin Tarde, Ashwini Giri, Ajay Purkar, Madhav Abhyankar and others.

Big ‘B’ to star in a Marathi film

For a long time, there has been a talk about Big ‘B’ Amitabh Bachchan thinking about performing seriously in a Marathi film. Now, we understand that he is certainly doing a Marathi film ‘AB & CD‘ which is to be directed by Milind Lele, who had earlier directed Marathi films like ‘Manya Sajjana‘ and ‘Kurukshetra‘. Most of the shooting of this film which will begin from 20th May will be done in Mumbai and Pune. In this film, Amitabh Bachchan has to do important scenes with Vikram Gokhale. The film also has two songs.

It may be recalled that 25 years ago Mr. Bachchan along with his wife Jaya Bachchan had taken part in the devotional song of Marathi film ‘Akka‘ produced by his make up man Deepak Sawant. Thereafter, in 2009 we saw his ABCL Company producing Marathi film ‘Vihir‘ which was directed by Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni. Recently, we also saw him shooting for Hindi film ‘Jhund‘, which is directed by ‘Sairat‘ fame Nagraj Manjule. But, performing an important role in Marathi and that too in the company of another versatile actor Vikram Gokhale, is a big news for Marathi film lovers.

Pritam Kagne, who made her debut in Marathi films in 2013 with ‘Navra Majha Bhavra‘ has performed in a number of films since then, including the award-winning film ‘Halal‘ with National award-winning director Shivaji Loten Patil. In this film, she played the central character along with Priyadarshan Jadhav and Chinmay Mandlekar. Produced by her brother Amol Kagne, this film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival, Goa Film Festival, Pune International Film Festival and Godrej Film Festival. Pritam also acted in Bollywood feature film ’31st October’, which was released in 2016.

Now, her latest Marathi film ‘Ahilya‘ directed by Raju Parsekar is in news. Just two days ago, Pritam received a big surprise in the form of awards received on the same day. And, she shared this happy news with her friends on her social networking page. “Feeling proud and very happy and with immense pleasure I am here sharing this lovely post, Friends with a surprise to me, I have received two awards in one single day, The Sanskruti Kala Darpan Award (Impressive performer female) & Dadasaheb Phalke Award (Promising actress of the year) on 11-5-2019 & our film ‘Ahilya‘ movie got Award as the best social film “.

Shantipriya is keen on doing Marathi films

Popular Bollywood and South Indian film actress Shantipriya  who was at the top during 90s , having done films opposite top heroes of that time like Akshay Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Rohit Roy, Prasanjit Chatterjee. Besides her Hindi films, Shantipriya had also done hit Telugu and Tamil films. Later, we saw this renowned actress on small screen with popular projects like ‘Dwarakadhish Bhagwan Srikrishna’ and ‘Mata Ki Chowki’.

Now, after watching the progress of Marathi films with its friendly environment and systematic presentation of subject, she has been high praise for the same. If offered a good role , she is willing to do a Marathi film. So, after Madhuri Dixit, Urmila Matondkar  and few others, another Bollywood actress is likely to make her debut in Marathi. But, how good is she with Marathi language, it remains to be seen.

 

‘Judgement’ will show Tejashree Pradhan’s big fight against injustice

At present, there is a lot of talk about Tejashree Pradhan‘s role in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Judgement’, which is now set for release on 24th May 2019. The film stars Tejashree Pradhan in the lead role with Mangesh Desai, while ‘Shree Partner’ fame Shweta Pagar plays a prominent role in this film which is directed by Samir Ramesh Surve.  Based on Neela Satyanarayan’s novel , the story of this film revolves around a daughter who fights for injustice against her mother , by challenging her own father.

Recently, a song from this film rendered by Javed Ali and composed by music director Naval Shastri was released on social media, which inspires every daughter’s effort to fight injustice. Incidentally, the film presents the strong emotional bonding between the mother and daughter. The other artistes of this film are, Satish Salagare, Kishori Ambiye, Mahendra Teredesai,Shalaka Apte, Vijay Bhanu, Shilpa Gandhi, Pratik Deshmukh, Nilesh Deshpande and child artiste Chaitra Bhujbal.

Late Sadashiv Dattaray Amrapurkar was well known for his performances in Marathi and Hindi films. He completed his Masters in History from Pune University.  He started acting from school days.

Having performed in about 200+ Hindi and Marathi films since 80s till last year, Mr. Amrapurkar was basically a stage actor. Mr. Govind Nihlani, gave him his first major break, as Rama Shetty a villain; through his film ‘Ardha Satya’. He was highly impressed by the actor’s performance in a Marathi play. Mr. Amrapurkar bagged the Filmfare award for negative role portrayed by him in this film. He also went on to bag another filmfare award for his performance in Mahesh Bhatt’s film ‘Sadak’.
Mr. Amrapurkar was last seen in Marathi film, ‘Hou De Jarasa Ushir’, which also sent its entry privately for Oscars. In this film, he had played an important role of a central character.
