Amruta Khanvilkar to play ‘Sonabai’ in ‘Har Har Mahadev’
We are already aware that Subodh Bhave will be playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in much talked about forthcoming Marathi film ‘Har Har Mahadev’. Few days ago, we came to know that Sharad Kelkar will be performing the important character of Baji Prabhu Deshpande in this film. So, there was a lot of curiosity as to who was playing another important character of Sonabai Deshpande? But now, it has been revealed that popular Marathi actress Amruta Khanvilkar will be playing this important character of Sonabai.
Amruta who has already established herself with variety of characters in Marathi as well as Hindi cinema, will be seen for the first time in Marathi cinema playing an historical character in a history based film. Produced by Zee Studios and Shri Ganesh Marketing & Ad films, this film written and directed by Abhijeet Deshpande will be released on 25th October 2022, on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, in five Indian languages, including Marathi.
Marathi Film ‘Walvi’ wins Award at Chicago South Asian Film Fest
Zee Studios Film ‘Walvi (वाळवी)’ directed by Paresh Mokashi has won the Best film award at the 13th Chicago South Asian Film Festival. It may be recalled that writer-director Paresh Mokashi has so far given two out of the box films like ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’ and ‘Chi Vi Sau Ka’ in association with Zee Studios and have won several awards for these films.
Reacting to the present success achieved by ‘Valvi’ Paresh Mokashi said, “Finding our film’s screening itself at this prestigious film festival was a big thing and therefore winning the Best film award is the happiest moment for the entire team.” Zee Studios Business Head Mangesh Kulkarni also reacted, “With this latest award, there is one more feather in the cap of Zee Studios. And, this is very good for the further journey of this film. There was a big competition in this film festival and therefore winning the Best film award is big achievement for all of us.”
Teaser of much awaited film ‘Godavri’ released
After having won the appreciation and awards at the international and national film festivals, the makers of Marathi film ‘Godavri’ have released the first teaser of their much awaited film on the auspicious occasion of Dusehra. The teaser presents ups and downs in the life of Jitendra Joshi and his family and their traditions. It is still not clear as to what connection the family has with ‘Godavri’ and this still remains a mystery, till the film is released.
Presented by Jio Studios, produced by Blue Drop Films and Jitendra Joshi, this film is directed by Nikhil Mahajan and stars Jitendra Joshi, Vikram Gokhale, Neena Kulkarni, Sanjay Mone, Priyadarshan Jadhav , Gauri Nalawade in lead roles. Speaking about this film, director Nikhil Mahajan says, “ This film can be enjoyed by the entire family together. The film presents the importance of relations, their importance and introducing new relations.” The film is all set for release on 11th November 2022.

Music of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ released in a grand way
Zee Studios presentation ‘Har Har Mahadev’ directed by Abhijeet Deshpande is a much talked about film today, as versatile actors Subodh Bhave and Sharad Kelkar are playing the characters of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Baji Prabhu Deshpande respectively, in this film. The Motion poster of this film was released few days ago, reminding one and all about the sacrifice of the great warrior Baji Prabhu Deshpande while fighting the great battle of Pawankhind against the army of Siddhi Jouhar.
And now, the music of this film was released in a grand way, with live show of international drummer Shivmani who played drum on this occasion, much to the delight of audience. It is for the first time Shivmani has played drum in a Marathi film.Music of this film is composed by Hitesh Modak . Another highlight of this film is that ‘Har Har Mahadev’ song in this film is rendered by Shankar Mahadevan on the lyrics of Mangesh Kangane.
Speaking about this film Writer- director Abhijit Deshpande said, “ It was my dream to make a film on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and it has come true with this film.” ‘Har Har Mahadev’ will be released on 25th October around Diwali time all over India. Besides Marathi, this film will also be released in other languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
Kranti Redkar to produce her Reality show on OTT platform
Kranti Redkar’s own production house ‘That Happy Girl‘ will be producing a unique reality show on Planet Marathi’s OTT platform. After having presented web films and web series on their OTT platform, this is new step taken by Planet Marathi, to offer a reality show produced by Kranti Redkar. Speaking about this show, Planet Marathi Chief Mr. Akshay Bardapurkar said that it will be a different type of reality show, details of which will be announced soon.
Producer Kranti Redkar said, “ It is a great pleasure to associate with Planet Marathi for this show as a producer, as earlier I had done a film ‘Rainbow’ with them and had a very good experience of working with them. Planet Marathi always think about the taste of the audience. I am sure, this show will be appreciated by the people all over Maharashtra, as it will open opportunities for newcomers.”
Mrunal Kulkarni’s Web Film ‘Sahela Re’ on OTT Platform
Directed by Mrunal Kulkarni, forthcoming Marathi Web Film ‘Sahela Re (सहेला रे)’ is all set to release on Planet Marathi OTT platform from 1st October 2022. With the tagline ‘Kaahi Natyanna Naav Nasata – काही नात्याना नाव नसतं ’ ( Some relationships have no name) this web film stars Mrunal Kulkarni, Subodh Bhave and Sumeet Raghavan in lead roles. It may be recalled that the Teaser of this web film was launched during the Dubai Expo 2020. Highlight of this film is that besides directing and acting in this film, Mrunal Kulkarni has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues of this film.
Special show of this film was held during the Goa International Film Festival followed by recent special show of this film held at the 5th India International film festival in Boston. According to Akshay Bardapurkar founder of Planet Marathi, this film is a family film with sensitive topic unfolding the different shades in human relationship.
Marathi films well received on OTT Platform
During the year 2020 and 2021 we had seen some of the Marathi films released on OTT platform due to spread of Corona virus. Subsequently, the theatres were opened after lifting of lockdown. But, there wasn’t satisfying response for Marathi as well as Hindi films, as it used to be prior to 2020. But, the same Marathi Films when released on OTT platform received good response not only amongst the Marathi viewers but also among non- Marathi viewers.
To be specific, this year 2022, we saw very good response to ‘Dharmaveer’ a biopic on Late Shiv Sena leader from Thane Anand Dighe. Prasad Oak who played his role received appreciation besides winning awards. Now, recently released films like ‘Dagadi Chawl-2 ( On Amazon Prime), ‘Chandramukhi ( On Netflix), Anannya and ‘Time Pass 3’ on Zee 5 besides ‘Zombivali’ and ‘Benwad’ are also inviting attention on OTT platform. Does that mean that Marathi film lovers prefer to watch the films sitting at home and while travelling on their mobile phones?
Sumant Shinde has taken extra efforts in ‘Boyz 3′
The trio of popular characters Dhairya, Dhungya and Kabir have become very popular with the films ‘Boyz’ and ‘Boyz-2’. Now, in ‘Boyz-3’ which is released this week, it is understood that the trio has played lots of mischief. But, Kabir played by Sumant Shinde seems to have worked more harder, as he is seen fighting with real wrestlers in the film.
The action director worked very hard in preparing Sumant for taking on the real wrestlers, as the script of this film demanded the same. According to director Vishal Devrukhkar,” Wrestling is the biggest sport in Maharashtra. We included Wrestling in the story of this film for this reason. For Sumant, this was the most challenging part, as he had to face the real life wrestlers. But, the action director handled these sequences very efficiently.”
Along with Sumant Shinde, ‘Boyz-3’ stars Parth Bhalerao, Pratik Lad and Vidula Chougule in lead roles.
