Nominations declared for 53rd Maharashtra State Film awards

Every year, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Dadasaheb Phalke, Maharashtra Government distribute awards to artistes and makers of Marathi films. This year, the award ceremony will be held for the first time in Borivali, Mumbai, on 30th April 2016. The announcement to this effect was made by Maharashtra Cultural Minister Mr. Vinod Tawde.

Along with this important announcement the nominations in different categories of awards were also declared. Total 73 films had submitted their entries and the names of 10 films nominated for the the best film award are, ‘Katyar Kaljat Ghusali‘, ‘Natsamrat‘, ‘Dagadi Chawl‘, ‘The Silence‘, ‘Bioscope‘, ‘Double Seat‘, ‘Halal‘, ‘Ringan‘,’Rangaa Patangaa‘ and ‘Highway‘. Some of the technical awards have already been declared and ‘Katyar Kaljat Ghusali‘ has already scored with maximum awards. In the individual awards also, Katyar leads with nominations, followed by ‘Double Seat‘.

The nominations for best actor’s category are, Sachin Pilgaonkar( Katyar Kaljat Ghusali), Ankush Choudhary( Double Seat) & Shashank Shende (Ringan); while the nominations in Best actress category are, Mukta Barve( Double Seat), Smita Tambe ( Partu) & Mrunmayee Deshpande( Anuraag) .

Shashikala & Suryakant Lavande to receive Lifetime awards

Well known cinematographer Suryakant Lavande & Veteran actress Shashikala will receive Raj Kapoor and V. Shantaram Lifetime awards respectively, from The Maharashtra State Government. Announcement to this effect was made by Maharashtra Cultural Minister Mr. Vinod Tawde. Both of them will receive Rs. 5 Lakh each, besides citation and a memento .

Two more special contribution awards have also been announced for Vidya Balan for Hindi films , and Sonali Kulkarni for Marathi films. Both will comprise of Rs.3 Lakh each with citation and memento. The awards will be presented on 30 April 2015, at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch, Pune. The entire programme will be sponsored by a private television channel. Other awards for Marathi films, will also be announced and presented on this day.

Nominations of Marathi films declared for 52nd State Awards

The short listing of nominations for the 52nd Maharashtra State awards to Marathi films have been declared. Besides declaring nominations in three categories, 7 awards for technical excellence and best child artist award have also been declared. Ten Marathi films have been nominated for the final round and they include, ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’, ‘Naagrik’, ‘Lokmanya Ek Yugpurush’, ‘Khwada’, ‘Happy Journey’, ‘Ek Hazarachi Note’, ‘Surajya’, ‘Salaam’, ‘Rama Madhav’ and ‘Poshter Boyz’. Out of these, five films will be eligible for awards in the final round.

In the other two categories, ‘Kaakan’, ‘Doosari Goshta’ and ‘Khwada’ have received nomination for Best production on debut while ‘Poshter Boyz’, ‘Naagrik’ and ‘Khwaada’ find their nomination for Best direction debut; respectively. One film from each section will receive the award in final round. There were 54 entries of films, for the State Awrds, which comprised of films receiving censor certification, during the period 1st January 2014 to 31st December 2014. The nominations were decided by a committee comprising of 15 people appointed for this purpose

The technical awards declared are as follows:
Best art direction: Tejas Modak, Prashant Bidkar & Ajay Sharma (Happy Journey),
Best Cinematography : Devendra Golatkar (Nagrik) ,
Best Editing : Jayant Jathar (Happy Journey)
Best Sound Recording : Pramod Thomas (Happy Journey)
Best Costumes: Bhausaheb Shinde (Khwaada)
Best Makeup : Raju Ambulkar (Khwaada)
Best Publicity Design : Himanshu Nanda & Rahul Nanda ( Doosari Goshta)
Best Child Artiste : Ashutosh Gaikwad (Kaakan)

The final round will be held in Pune, on 30th April, 2015; in presence of the panel of five experts and invitees from Marathi film industry. The awards will be distributed on the same day.
