Actress Smita Tambe turns producer with ‘Saavat’

Actress Smita Tambe, who has been part of many award winning sensible Marathi films for the past few years, has turned producer with the film ‘Saavat’. Smita will be producing this film under the banner of Ringing Rain production in association with Niraksha Films & Lateral Works Pvt Ltd. Directed by Saurabh Sinha, this film stars Smita Tambe in the lead role of CBI Officer Aditi Deshmukh.

Smita who is inspired by the performances of  actresses like  Late Smita Patil in ‘Umbartha’ & ‘Jait Re Jait’,  Smita Talwalkar in ‘Chaukat Raja’, Madhu Kambikar in ‘Vidushak’, Neena Kulkarni in ‘Uttarayan’, always felt that she should perform a strong character of a woman in films. Speaking about her involvement in production, Smita said that when Saurabh approached her with the script of this film, she felt that she should also involve herself in production, besides performing the lead role. Along with Smita the film stars Shwetambari, Milind Shirole & Sanjeevani Jadhav. The film will be released all over Maharashtra on 22ndMarch 2019.

During the past few years, we find our Marathi films have been effectively presenting some relevant social issues to create awareness among people. Forthcoming Marathi film ‘Saavat’ produced by Hitesha Deshpande & Shobhita Manglik and directed by Saurabh Sinha also falls in this category. Through this film the makers have raised certain issues such as, the exiting traditional rituals, at a time, when the women have made progress by reaching to top positions in jobs and other sectors.
