Ashok Patki’s music for ‘Shyamchi Aai’ is USP of the film
Forthcoming Marathi film ‘Shyamchi Aai’ is the topic of discussion among Marathi film lovers for the past few days. The film lovers are naturally inquisitive about this film, as the title of this film takes them down memory lane into the Black n White era, about Sane Guruji and the timeless songs from Sane Guruji’s writings start ringing in their minds . There was also lot of curiosity as to who will compose the music for such a unique project. Now the suspense is over and senior composer Ashok Patki is all set to compose the songs for the film.

This film is produced by Amruta Arun Rao under the banner of Amruta Films. Sujay Dahake, who has directed many ambitious films, is directing ‘Shyamchi Aai.’ After completing the first schedule of ‘Shyamchi Aai’ in Konkan, the second and most crucial schedule has also been completed in Panhala. It was only after that , Ashok Patki joined the film and made sure the music would be melodious too. Patki, known as the king of jingles, has given music to dramas and serials along with many films for the past several years. Now, as ‘Shyamchi Aai,’ he has been entrusted with an important responsibility. The film will have a total of three songs.
Reacting to his role as music director,Mr. Patki said that ‘Shyamchi Aai’ is, till today, a milestone in Marathi cinema. The songs in this film, which reflect Sane Guruji’s thoughts, are also very meaningful. As a musician, it is up to me to identify and convey the meaning to the audience through music. Patki also clarified that these songs would be sung by leading singers in the field of music
‘Shyamchi Aai’ second schedule begins in Panhala.
We are all aware that of Sane Guruji’s book on Mother and subsequently a Marathi film ‘Shyamchi Aai’ directed by P.K Atre in 1953, which was based on this book. Now, director Sujay Dahake who is making his latest Marathi film ‘Shyamchi Aai’ on this subject that too in Black n White has started the second schedule of his film at Panhala Former M.P. Mr. Dhananjay Mahadik gave the clap for this second schedule.
‘Shyamchi Aai’ is being produced by Amruta Arun Rao under the banner of Amruta Films. After shooting at many scenic places in Konkan, the important part of the film is now being shot in Panhala. In today’s colorful era, this film is going to take the audience back to the old days, as it will be in black and white. Highlight of this film is that , Sujay will try to give disclosure to the loving relationship between Shyam and his mother, with 60-70 actors from Panhala-Kolhapur, along with the actors from Konkan
Shooting of ‘Shyamchi Aai’ begins in Pawas
‘Shyamchi Aai’ reminds us of the great mother presented by Sane Guruji through his book. Few days ago director Sujay Dahake had announced his film ‘Shyamchi Aai’ with the feeling in his mind that the new generation should know about this great mother. Now, shooting of this film has started at a holy place Pawas, Off Ratnagiri in Konkan. Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Uday Samant was the chief guest on this occasion.
The first Shooting schedule has started. Shooting of Shyamchi Aai, which plans to complete in two schedules. In today’s colourful but materialistic world this film is expected to take the audience back to the old days as it will be presented in black and white. Sane Guruji wrote the book ‘Shyamchi Aai’ out of immense love, devotion and gratitude for his mother. Director Sujay Dahake is trying to present some aspects of this which have been neglected till date.
Through his past films, Sujay has always tried to offer something different from the mainstream. He has already won national awards through ‘Shala’, has entertained the audience by making diverse and innovative movies like ‘Phuntroo’, ‘Ajoba’, ‘Kesari’. The film ‘Shyamchi Aai’ is the next step on this path, for which he has done a lot of research.

Whenever there is a mention of Shyamchi Aai, we tend to remember the faces of Shyam and his mother played by little Madhav Vaze and actress Vanmala respectively in National award winning 1953 Marathi film ‘Shyamchi Aai’ . This film directed by Acharya Atre was based on the emotion filled story of Sane Guruji. Now, Sujay Dahake, who won the National award for his debut film ‘Shaala’ has also announced the film with the same title and has also released the poster of this film, which is also based on the Sane Guruji’s best selling novel.

Sujay has decided to make this film in Black and White and will be showcasing the pre-independence era. He and his team are presently busy searching statewide the right Maharashtrian boy to essay the character of Shyam in the film. This film will be produced by Amruta Arun Rao and will be directed by Sujay Dahake. They have also made a publicity brochure requesting for boys in the age group of 8 to 12 to perform a one minute monologue and email or WhatsApp it after recording on their mobile phones to the following email and phone number. Parents of the kids are requested to abide by the conditions set by the production company.
The last date for sending the video is December 30, 2021, after which the contest will come to an end. Out of the contestants, the production company will shortlist ten boys. They will be transported to Mumbai and asked to participate in a three-day acting workshop. Finally, one boy among the ten will be selected to play the role of Shyam in the film. Sujay Dahake announces his film ‘Shyamchi Aai’
On the occasion of India’s Independence day celebrations renowned director Sujay Dahake known for his issue based films like ‘Shala’, ‘Phuntroo’, (movie review) , ‘Aajoba’, ‘Kesari’ etc. announced his new film ‘Shyamchi Aai’. By making this grand announcement of the launching of his film ‘Shyamchi Aai’ and unveiling the poster of his ambitious film on this auspicious day, Sujay has once again endeared himself to the hearts of his fans all over Maharashtra in style .
Produced by Produced by Amruta Arun Rao ‘Shyamchi Aai’ is based on ‘Pandurang Sadashiv Sane’ alias Sane Guruji‘s novel of the same name. Incidentally, this year also marks the 150th birth anniversary of Dadasaheb Phalke who is the father of Indian Cinema. One of the main highlights of this film is that it will be made in a marked departure from the usual norm, entirely in black and white. The viewer will be able to see the period of British history between 1912 to 1947 leading to the Independence of the country. No other details of the film have been divulged by Sujay Dahake.
Sujay has planned to release this film on the auspicious occasion of Diwali next year. Artistes of this film will be finalised only after a spate of auditions and there is no semblance or similarity between this film and the earlier film ‘Shyamchi Aai’ except the title by itself. Since the film is based on Sane Guruji’s novel, a lot of aspects of the plot will be explored with the latest digital technology in the film. Which could not be earlier done in the 1953 film ‘Shyamchi Aai’.
