Marathi films well received on OTT Platform
During the year 2020 and 2021 we had seen some of the Marathi films released on OTT platform due to spread of Corona virus. Subsequently, the theatres were opened after lifting of lockdown. But, there wasn’t satisfying response for Marathi as well as Hindi films, as it used to be prior to 2020. But, the same Marathi Films when released on OTT platform received good response not only amongst the Marathi viewers but also among non- Marathi viewers.
To be specific, this year 2022, we saw very good response to ‘Dharmaveer’ a biopic on Late Shiv Sena leader from Thane Anand Dighe. Prasad Oak who played his role received appreciation besides winning awards. Now, recently released films like ‘Dagadi Chawl-2 ( On Amazon Prime), ‘Chandramukhi ( On Netflix), Anannya and ‘Time Pass 3’ on Zee 5 besides ‘Zombivali’ and ‘Benwad’ are also inviting attention on OTT platform. Does that mean that Marathi film lovers prefer to watch the films sitting at home and while travelling on their mobile phones?
“Whatever you decide to do, is possible” – Hruta Durgule
Described as the most attractive woman on Marathi television, Hruta Durgule is in the news now days. Her two Marathi films will be released back to back in next two weeks. While ‘Ananya’ is releasing on 22nd July, ‘Timepass 3′ will be released on 29th July 2022. In these two films Hruta is playing different type of characters. But, more challenging will be her title role in ‘Ananya’ for which she has worked very hard.

Written and Directed by Pratap Phad this film is a cinematic version of his own Marathi play. Produced by Dhruv Das, Ravi Jadhav and Sanjay Chhabriya, in this film Hruta plays a young intelligent girl who loses her both the hands in an accident. She overcomes this handicap by hard work and tries to be self reliant . How she does it is what this inspiring film has tried to show to the audience. Hruta has uploaded a video showing how she worked hard for the preparation of this role.
Speaking about her hard work, Hruta says, “ After I signed this film, I knew that I had to work very hard and be psychologically strong. The first thing I did was to lose my weight. Later, while doing my workout on flexibility, I used to cry. At one stage I even felt like giving up, but the tagline of this film inspired me to make this possible. I kept in mind one mantra- ’Yes, whatever you decide to do, is possible’. And that’s how I found ‘Ananya’ in me.”
‘Timepass 3′ trailer released with a grand celebration
Zee Studious Business Head Mangesh Kulkarni, Producer Meghana Jadhav and director Ravi Jadhav had an occasion to celebrate an event together. It was trailer release of their forthcoming much awaited Marathi film ‘Timepass 3′, which is all set to release on 29th July 2022. It was a grand celebration in presence of entire team of this film.
In the first two parts of ‘Timepass’ the audience witnessed the love story of Dagadu and Praju. Now, in ‘Timepass 3′ the audience will be surprised to see Dagadu played by Prathamesh Parab with Palavi played by new actress Hruta Durgule. In this film Hruta unlike her television image, will be seen in a new dashing avatar of a modern girl, as clearly seen in the trailer of this film. Along with this lead pair, there will be Madhav lele played by Vaibhav Mangle, Shantaram Parab played by Bhau kadam and the Dagadu gang, besides Aart Wadagbalkar and Sanjay Narvekar in an important role.
‘Timepass-3’ will be prequel of ‘Timepass2’ and sequel of ‘Timepass’ and therefore it will be interesting to see the transformation Dagadu in between this period.There will be five songs in this film written by Kshitij patwardhan composed by Amitraj. Besides direction Ravi Jadhav has written the story of this film with Screenplay and dialogues by Priyadarshan Jadhav.
