Umesh Kamat stands tall with ‘Taath Kanaa’

Latest released Marathi film ‘Taath Kanaa’ presents a captivating biopic on the life of world renowned neuro-spinal surgeon Dr. Premanand Ramani, who believed in himself, since his childhood. His PLIF technique in spinal surgery, made him stand tall in the field of medical innovation. In short, nothing was impossible for this surgeon, who possessed human spirit.
In the film ‘Taath Kana’ versatile actor Umesh Kamat has played the character of Dr. Ramani convincingly, presenting his emotions at every important stage of his life. His looks at different stages in his life and his body language speaks about his involvement into the character. Credit for the same also goes to writer Shrikant Bojewar and director Girish Mohite, for their extra ordinary skills, to make this film entertaining in spite of its serious emotion filled subject, which touches the heart of the audience.
‘Taath Kanaa’ captures the attention of the audience right from the beginning till the end, as it relates to Doctor – patient relationship . Their interactions and the hospital atmosphere have been well exhibited. Writer Bojewar and director Mohite have presented two important operations, namely Ms. Parminder from Haryana and young Narendra from Maharashtra. Emotions of Parminder’s husband and Narendra’s family members and their faith in Dr. Ramani have also been presented very well.
Besides notable performance coming from Umesh Kamat, who stands tall with the central character; good support comes from Deepti Devi who plays Dr. Ramani’s wife Pratima very convincingly. She seems to be a button artist, quickly changing her expressions, according to moving situations in the screenplay. In the role of a young patient Narendra, Suyog Gorhe has done well, while Sayali Sanjeev as his would be wife and Shailesh Datar and Anupama Takmoge as Narendra’s worried parents have performed their respective characters very sensibly.
There are no songs in this film, but Avinash -Vishwajeet make their presence felt in the background score. Good editing by Nilesh Gawand and wonderful cinematography by Krushnakumar Soren make this film more presentable. Certainly, an inspiring film, which can be watched by all age groups.
‘Tath Kana’ to be released on 28th November 2025
Biopic of World renowned Neuro-spinal Surgeon Dr. Premanand Ramani is now all set for release on 28th November 2025. Produced by Vijay Mudshingkar and Karan Rawat, this film is directed by Girish Mohite. Dr. Ramani’s life and his work is inspiration for others, as at the age 0f 86 years, he still attends operation theatre and his OPD.
His life since his childhood, is full of challenges and therefore it is interesting to know his struggle in life and overcoming all the hurdles with his hard work and dedication to his profession. Renowned actor Umesh Kamat plays Dr. Ramani in this film along with Deepti Devi, Sayali Sanjeev, Suyog Gorhe, Ajit Bhure, Shailesh Datar, Anupama Takmoge, Ravi Gosai and Sanjeev Jontgiya in lead roles.
Cinematography of this film is by Krishna Soren and editing is by Nilesh Gawand. Art direction by Mahesh Kudalkar, music by Avinash Vishwajeet, Executive producer Prashant Pawar and production controller Jitendra Bhosale are the other credits.
Trailer of ‘Bin Lagnachi Goshta’ released
Producer Nitin Vaidya and director Aditya Ingale released the trailer of their forthcoming Marathi film ‘Bin Lagnachi Goshta’ recently. The trailer shows real life couple Umesh Kamat and Priya Bapat in live in relationship in reel life. With Priya turning pregnant, we notice lots of hot arguments between them. At this juncture, we find another couple in the form of Dr. Girish Oak and Nivedita Saraf entering their life, to make the plot more interesting.
Speaking about this film, director Aditya Ingale says that he made the selection of Umesh and Priya for these roles, when he noticed the natural comfort between this couple, when he had visited their house. While Producer Nitin Vaidya says that besides entertainment, this film will also make the film lovers think about the change noticed about relationship in present time. This film is all set for release on 12th September 2015.
Mahesh Manjrekar & Salman Khan launch title song of ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 3′
Forthcoming Multi starrer Marathi film ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paise 3′ has already raised a lot of curiosity among the film lovers since its launch. Recently, the title song of this film was launched in presence of Mahesh Manjrekar and Salman Khan along with entire star cast of this film.
This musical entertaining song is rendered by Vaishali Samant and Adarsh Shinde on the music of Pankaj Padghan. He lyrics of this song are written by Sachin Pathan ( Yo). After watching this title song video, Salman Khan was all praise for this song and said that this song itself indicates how entertaining this will be. He further added that he would certainly like to be part of the ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa Part -4.

Like the T-20 Cricket format scored over One day and Test Cricket, our Marathi short films are getting more attention compared to Marathi web films and feature films. Many sensible Marathi short films with 5 minutes to 30 minutes duration are receiving good response from the social media viewers.
One such Marathi short film ‘Naav Kaay Tuza’ produced by Sandeep and Dhanashree Kulkarni and directed by Bansidhar Kinkar, with little more than 30 minutes duration, can be viewed on youtube. Starring Umesh Kamat, Neha Naik and others, this film revolves around a young girl Manasi Prabhu ( Neha Naik) who after completing her graduation in Computer Engineering comes to Pune from Karad, with a big hope of getting a job in IT park. But, she is not able to find a job without reference or recommendation. Her father who is unable to spend on her expenses, suggests her to return to Karad, in next few days.
When disappointed Manasi is getting ready to return to her native place, life takes a new turn in her life and she finds a chance to visit an IT company, where she interacts with the company Boss (Umesh Kamat), who is in a dilemma over prioritizing ethics over business advantage. What happens next is an interesting situation, which the director has cleverly presented through an appealing screenplay.
Considering his past short films like ‘Shambharava Sthal’ and ‘Ravivaar Sakal’, Bansidhar Kinkar, has done a remarkable job as a director in this short film. He finds good support with best performances from all the artistes. Neha Naik in particular, has done very well.
Certainly a worth watch film.

‘Jar Tar Chi Goshta’ storms Mumbai & Pune
New Marathi play ‘Jar Tar Chi Goshta’ has stormed Mumbai and Pune drama theatres with ‘Housefull’ board for every show held since 5th August 2023 this month. Till date 15 shows were presented at these two places which received overwhelming response from drama lovers. Written by Iravati Karnik, presented by Priya Bapat, produced by Nandu Kadam under the banner of Sonal Productions, this play is directed by Advait Dadarkar & Ranjit Patil .
With Umesh Kamat and Priya Bapat coming together in lead roles on Marathi stage after a long gap of ten years, this play has invited a lot of attention. Along with them Pallavi Ajay and Ashutosh Gokhale are also playing lead roles in this play. This play is appreciated by audience in all age groups as it connects with their lifestyle. Speaking about the success of his play, producer Nandu Kadam says, “I am happy that from the very first show, this play has seen ‘housefull’ board. Umesh and Priya return to stage after a decade in ‘Jar Tar chi Goshta’
Ten years ago Umesh Kamat and Priya Bapat performed in their first Marathi play ‘Nava Gadi Nava Rajya’ and the pair attained popularity. Thereafter, both of them together performed in films and web series. Now, after almost a decade both of them will be seen together in forthcoming Marathi play ‘Jar Tar Chi Goshta’’ This play is produced by Priya Bapat under the banner of Sonal Production.
‘Jar Tar Chi Goshta’ is directed by Advait Dadarkar and Ranjit Patil . This play is written by Irwati Karnik and stars Umesh Kamat, Priya Bapat Kamat, Pallavi Ajay and Ashutosh Gokhale. Speaking about her play, Priya said, “This is my second commercial play through my home production and I am glad that I am part of this play as an actress. I was very keen on working with Umesh once again on Marathi stage. And, my wish has come true through this play. So, eagerly looking forward to appear in front of the stage audience.”
Makers of ‘Ajunahi Barsat Aahe’ celebrate 100 episodes
Produced by Vidydhar Pathare and directed by Kedar Vaidya, the popular Marathi TV serial which was premiered on 12th July 2021 has now completed 100 episodes.
