Grand auction of players for Marathi Celebrities Cricket league
The inauguration of trophy for the Punit Balan Celebrity League ( PBCL) was held recently at the hands of Indian Cricketer Yusuf Pathan. Just before this function Yusuf Pathan had announced his retirement from all forms of Cricket and therefore received a standing ovation, when he arrived for this function. Overwhelmed by this gesture, the former cricketer thanked all those present at the function, for taking note of his cricketing career. According to the presenter of this league Young industrialist and Marathi film producer Mr. Punit Balan, the Season of this Marathi Celebrities Cricket league will be held in Pune and six teams will participate in this league with T10 format.
104 players from the Marathi film industry were divided into three categories, namely Icons, Platinum and Gold. The auction of players was held with lots of enthusiasm with base price of each player at Rs. 1 lakh. Uttung Thakur was sold at maximum at 42 laks points to Torna Tigers followed by Shikhar Thakur who was brought at 35 lakhs points by Panhala Panthers. The other players with high cost brought by teams were Sandeep Juvatkar by Shivneri Lions for 31 lakhs points, Siddhant Muley by Pratapgarh Warriors for 27 lakh points, Tejas Nerurkar by Sinhagad for 25 lakh points. The captains of the six respective teams are as follows : Mahesh Manjrekar – Panhala Panthers, Nagraj Manjule – Torna Tigers, Pravin Tarde- Raigarh Royals, Siddharth Jadhav- Sinhagad Strikers, Sharad Kelkar – Pratapgarh Warriors, Subodh Bhave- Shivneri Lions .
Mrunmayee Deshpande anchored the show, while the auction part was handled by Rahul Kshirsagar.
