Pooja Sawant wins State award for best actress
After making her acting debut in Marathi films in 2010 through ‘Kshanbhar Vishranti‘ the tall and gorgeous actress Pooja Sawant has performed variety of roles in about 16 films till now. Her best performances were in the films ‘Poshter Boyz‘, ‘Neelkanth Master‘, ‘Dagadi Chawl‘ , ‘Lapachhapi‘ & ‘Bhetali Tu Punha‘, where she had ample scope to display her talent. And now, she has been rewarded with Maharashtra State Award for best actress i.e. Smita Patil Award for her performance in the film ‘Bhetali Tu Punha‘.
Overwhelmed by this biggest gift showered upon her on the Maharashtra day, Pooja Sawant through her social networking page has thanked one and all from her ‘Bhetali Tu Punha‘ team with special thanks to director Chandrakant Kanse Sir. She has also thanked her co star in the film Vaibhav Tatwawaadi for his support and motivation during the making of this film. She has also not forgotten to thank her parents and well wishers for always standing behind her with their good wishes. Marathi Movie World also congratulates her on this latest achievement.
Marathi film ‘Ashtvakra’ will focus nexus between System and criminals.
For a human being, his Family and the society play very important part in life. But, today some people behave as if they don’t believe in something like ‘values‘. It gives an impression that such people have lost mental balance in the society. Sensible people term them in brief as criminals. Big question is that how these people turn criminals ? All these aspects will be unfolded through forthcoming Marathi film ‘Ashtvakra‘. The film is all set to release across Maharashtra on the 8th June 2018.
Mr.Pradeep Salunke besides writing the script of this film has also directed it. Speaking about his film ‘Ashtvakra’, he said that he has strived hard for bringing this film to the screen from the last 3 years. “It was a huge tight rope challenge to remain in the legal framework and still be able to present the theme of the film precisely. Being my venture film, I have created this film with utmost finesse in bringing the scenes alive. As this was also the first film for other artists as well, they have tried their level best in giving justice to the film,” he added.
Actors Vidyadhar Joshi, Mayuri Mandlik, Mangesh Giri, Veena Arun, Harshada Bamne, Preeti Torne-Koli are playing major roles in the film. Cinematography is by Vimal Mishra, editing by Subodh Narkar, Lyrics by Mayuri Mandlik and Music by Chandrodaya Ghosh are other credits.
‘Vantass’ gets ready for release on 4th May
Having already popularised two songs from the film ‘Tipur Tipur‘ and ‘Kombada‘ , the makers of Marathi film ‘Vantass ‘ are getting ready to release their film on 4th May 2018 . A love story of Gauri and Ambya penned by Sudarshan Mahamuni , the film is set on the backdrop of rural Maharashtra, ‘Vantass‘ is produced by Amol Bapurao Lavate and directed by Dnyaneshwar Yadavrao Umak.
‘Vantass‘ Film has newcomers like Ajay Warpe, Snehal Salunkhe, Akshay Mahulkar, Ramesh Vedpathak, Mrunalini Ranaware, Manmohan Mahimkar & Pradeep Navale in the lead roles. Lyrics of the songs are penned by Valay & Sudarshan Mahamuni with music by Pankaj Padghan. Editing by Jogeshwar Dhoble and camera by Shalesh Jadhav are the other credits of this film .

Actor Vicky Kaushal is Amruta Khanvilkar’s new fan
We are all aware that Amruta Khanvilkar is performing in Dharma Productions Hindi film ‘Raazi‘ directed by Meghna Gulzar. During the shooting of ‘Raazi‘ film, Vicky Kaushal came to know that it was Amruta Khanvilkar on whom the famous Marathi song ‘Vajale Ki Bara‘ was shot. Actually, Vicky knew the song very well, but didn’t know that the performer was Amruta Khanvilkar. So, in excitement he went to Amruta Khanvilkar and in front of all, confessed that he was a great fan of her.
Amruta Khanvilkar was also surprised with this confession from him, as she too was his great fan after watching his performance in the film ‘Masan‘. Vicky did not stop here. He along with Amruta Khanvilkar performed on the song ‘Vajale Ki Bara‘ that night after the shooting. Giving her reaction on this incidence, Amruta Khanvilkar said, “Every year on the occasion of International dance Day, I am always asked to name my favourite dancer. But, this year, I received a compliment from an actor like Vicky that I was the best dancer. This has certainly boosted my confidence.”

Twelve years ago when Marathi film ‘Jatra’ was released, the superhit Marathi song Kombdi Palali from this film had become the talk of the town. In fact, the Hindi song Chikni Chameli from the movie ‘Agneepath’ had even borrowed its tune. Now, it looks like that this ‘Kombadi ‘ formula is set to be used again. Latest news is that an upcoming Marathi film titled ‘Vantass’ has recently released another foot tapping ‘Kombdi’ song. This one is called ‘Kombada Kartay Kukut Ku’ . In fact, the song is also gaining momentum on the social media. The song features Akshay Mahulkar, a new face set to enter the industry from rural Amravati. The actor hailing from Daryapur is seen romancing Heena Panchal in this song. Now, it remains to be seen, whether this scintillating dance performed by Heena Panchal will make the music lovers shake their legs instantly on the dance floor ?
Heena is now well-known in the Marathi industry, for her item songs in various films. She’s often been compared to Bollywood star Malaika Arora Khan, as they look very similar. Hence her nickname ‘Malaika’ of the South. Beginning her career in 2014, Heena has featured in the likes of ‘Balam Bambai’ from Life Mein Twist Hai (2014) and ‘Bebo Bebo’ from Manus Ek Mati (2017). Rohit Raut launches his Marma music Academy
Rohit Raut who has become the new heartthrob of thousands of youngsters recently launched his own Music academy ‘Marma‘ in Latur, to give scope to the new talent. Speaking about his academy, Rohit said, “There is ample talent in Latur and there are good teachers. But, there is need to build confidence in such young singers and also to guide them properly, before taking up singing as their career. So, with this intention, this academy has been launched.”
After launching this academy, a live in concert of Rohit Raut and Juilee Joglekar was organised and it received an overwhelming response. Through this foundation, Rohit wants to give something back to this society. And, this is a wonderful gesture. Usually, people coming from small towns, forget their place of domicile, after moving to big cities and after achieving goals. But, Rohit Raut is an exception.
Abhijeet Satam to perform in Shibu Sable’s film ‘Lagi To Chhagi’
Abhijeet Satam who is presently a popular TV star will be playing the lead role in Shivdarshan Sable‘s next Marathi film ‘Lagi Toh Chhagi‘. It may be recalled Abhijit had played a prominent role in Shibu Sable’s previous film ‘Canvas’. Now, they have come together once again, through ‘Lagi Toh Chhagi’, which is produced by Shivdarshan’s father Devdatt Sable. Having attempted out of the box subjects before, this time Shivdarshan will be experimenting with the new idea of combining comedy with suspense thriller.
Speaking about the selection of Abhijit for this role, Shibu said, “Abhijit is not only a good friend but also a good actor. And, I was confident that he was best suited to play the lead role in this film.” Incidentally, Shivdarshan is the grandson of renowned singer Late Shahir Sable and Abhijit is the son of popular Hindi and Marathi film and television actor Shivaji Satam. Besides Abhijeet Satam, the film also stars Nikita Girdhar, Ravinder Singh Bakshi, Milind Uke, Yogesh Soman, Asit Redij, Shaila Kanekar, Raju Bavdekar, Sagar Athlekar, Mahesh Subhedar, Akshay Bhosale & Surender Pal.
The highlight of this film is that a song penned by Devdatt Sable 40 years ago on his own music, has been included in this film. Camera by Pradeep Khanvilkar and music by Anurag Godbole are the other credits.
Marathi Play ‘Ulat Sulat’ witnesses overwhelming response from farmers
Marathi play ‘Ulat Sulat‘ is creating new record of receiving overwhelming response from audience these days. This play which speaks about the difficulties faced by farmers, has been drawing good crowds at various places, wherever the play is staged, especially in rural Maharashtra. And, the majority of the audience comprise of farmers. Recently, this play was staged in Barshi village in Solapur, where thousands of people who gathered, maintained a very good discipline.
Produced by Aishwarya and Suyog, ‘Ulat Sulat‘ play is written by Kiran Mane and directed by Kumar Sohoni. Makarand Anaspure‘s touching performance is the highlight of this play. And, this message is being spread through word of mouth publicity. The 50th show of this play, which was held in Mumbai, was also attended by celebrities like Nana Patekar and Uday Nirgudkar, who were all praise for Kiran Mane, the writer of this play. Besides writing, Kiran is also performing in this play, opposite Makarand Anaspure. Now, this play will also be staged in Muscat on 10th May 2018.

Known for her involvement in labour work through Paani foundation along with actor Aamir Khan and others for the past 3 years in Western Maharashtra, popular Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar will now be offering labour services voluntarily on 1st May Maharashtra Day . Sai will be offering her services in a village near Pune on this day. And, this contribution to society made by Sai Tamhankar is certainly to be appreciated.
Narrating her experience in this field, Sai says , “While working in Western Maharashtra, I received a lot of satisfaction to sweat out during a sunny afternoon. While working one day with a spade in my hand and digging the soil in search of ground water, the Sarpanch of this village noticed me and expressed his desire to do the work, as he had never seen any actress inspiring others to do this work. ” She further adds, “If we put in some efforts to make some water available to the farmers, it is a biggest service.“
