Mahesh Manjrekar to direct Marathi film ‘Shivaji Park Mumbai 28′
‘Shivaji Park Mumbai 28‘ is the biggest landmark of Mumbai, known for the world famous cricket ground which has nurtured World famous cricketers and also the most popular meeting place for politicians to hold their election rally. Many renowned personalities live in and around this landmark in Dadar, Mumbai. So, when you hear that a Marathi film is being made with the title ‘Shivaji Park Mumbai 28‘ obviously, there is a lot of curiosity about this film.
Produced by Gouri Pictures and presented by Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar, the film is directed by Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar. Marathi film on Dr. Tatya Lahane to release on 6th October
Known for his social service for the past 25 years, Dr.Tatya Lahane has done commendable work with his medical practice reaching to poorest of poor. Now, a biopic is being made on him in Marathi, suitably titled ‘Dr. Tatya Lahane..Angaar..Power is Within‘ , which will be released on 6th October 2017. Recently, Relay Singing was tried for a song in this film using 327 singers in the age group of 7 to 70 years. The song comprising of 108 words was rendered by these singers at the auditorium of CIDCO Exhibition Centre at Vashi, Navi Mumbai.
As this song was to create world record the representative of Guinness World Records Mr. Swapnil Dangrikar was also present. And, it was officially declared that this song had created a new World record. Also present on the occasion were Dr.Tatya Lahane, Maharashtra Minister Mr. Girish Mahajan, Navi Mumbai Mayor Sudhakar Sonavane, Actress Alka Kubal and others. Incidentally, Alka Kubal is playing the role of Dr.Tatyarao Lahane’s mother in ‘Dr. Tatya Lahane..Angaar..Power is Within‘ inspiring film on Dr.Lahane’s life. Makarand Anaspure is playing the challenging role of Dr.Lahane, while the other important artistes of this film are, Nishigandha Wad, Bharat Ganeshpure & Ramesh Deo. The film is produced and directed by Virag Wankhede, while music is by ‘Ek Hindustani‘.
Sunny Leone main attraction of ‘Boyz’
Bollywood actress Sunny Leone performing a Lavani wearing Nine Yard Maharashtrian Saree for a song ‘Kuthe Kuthe Jayche Honeymoon La‘ in the film ‘Boyz‘ has been the topic of discussion among Marathi film lovers. Now, ‘Boyz‘ film is all set for release on coming 8th September. Yesterday evening this song of the film was launched in a grand ceremony in Mumbai, in presence Sunny Leone. Chief guest Sachin Pilhaonkar and special guest of honour Suresh Wadkar then released the trailer and music of this film.
The film presents the story of three young students living in a hostel far away from their place. The songs of ‘Boyz‘ film have special flavor with the Lavani picturised on Sunny Leone having a special significance. Rendered by Sunidhi Chouhan this song is penned by presenter of this film Avadhoot Gupte himself, under his music direction. The film also stars Zakir Hussian, Shilpa Tulaskar, Sharvari Jemnis, Ritika Shrotri and Vaibhav Mangle.
Renowned personalities attend teaser launch of ‘Halal’
We are all aware that Marathi film ‘Halal‘ has been inviting all the attention prior to its theatre release, mainly because the film throws light on exploitation of Muslim women under the pretext of Talaq(divorce). Produced by Amol Kagne and directed by National award winning director Shivaji Lotan Patil, this film has already received appreciation at various international film festivals.
Recently during the teaser launch of ‘Halal‘ film, many renowned personalities like Amol Palekar, Dr.Baba Adhav, writer Sanjay Pawar & President of Muslim Satyashodhak Mandal Mr. Shamsuddin Tamboli were present on this occasion. Written by Rajan Khan, the film ‘Halal’ is all set to release on 29th September 2017. The film stars Chinmay Mandlekar, Pritam Kagne, Priyadarshan Jadhav, Vijay Chavan, Chhaya Kadam, Amol Kagne, Vimal Mhatre & Sanjay Sugaonkar in lead roles. Song picturised at Picturesque location for the film ‘Kaay Jhala Kalana’
Picturisation of songs play a very important role in the feature film. Some of the songs have become popular mainly due to their wonderful picturisation and creative choreography at picturesque locations. Recently, Producer Pankaj Gupta under the banner of Dhanlaxmi Productions Pvt. Ltd; picturised one such title song at different picturesque locations of Khandala, Lonavla, Tamhini, Mulshi, Satara, Wai, Kolhapur and other such places to make it more presentable.
Director Suchita Shabbir has paid more attention on Sujit Kumar’s choreography for ‘Kaay Jhala Kalana‘ film song, besides meaningful lyrics, wonderful locations and suitable music by Pankaj Padghan for this love story. Rohit Raut and Sayali Pankaj have rendered their voices for this romantic song. Cinematographer Suresh Deshmane has picturised this song through his lenses. Marathi Play ‘Aparadh Mich Kela’ to celebrate Silver Jubilee show on 18th August
There was a time when popular Marathi play ‘Aparadh Mich Kela‘ had created records holding maximum shows. The same play which was revived recently by producers Kishore Sawant and Vivek Naik is now heading towards Silver Jubilee show in a shortest time. The producers have therefore decided to celebrate this occasion of their silver Jubilee show at Prabodhankar Thackeray Auditorium on 18th August at 8.30 pm.

Sagarika Ghatge returns with another Marathi film ‘Daav’
Sagarika Ghatge who shot into limelight with Shahrukh Khan starrer Bollywood film ‘Chak De India’, later made her debut in Marathi through ‘Premachi Goshta’ starring opposite Atul Kulkarni. Now, after a gap of few years, Sagarika is returning to Marathi cinema with her next film ‘Daav’ which is produced by Nitin Upadhyay and directed by Kanishk Verma.
‘Daav’ will be a suspense thriller written by director himself, who has also penned the screenplay of this film, with dialogues by Yogesh Markande. Sagarika herself feels that her lead role in this film is more challenging, as she has never played this kind of character before. She also feels that in Marathi there are very less suspense filled thrillers and hence this film would certainly offer something different to Marathi film lovers. Mangesh Dhakde has provided background music of this film, which is based on a psycho killer.
It’s Sameer Vidwans v/s Prasad Oak this Friday
Release of two or three films together on the same day is not new to Marathi film industry. And the makers of the films have always taken it sportingly. This Friday, Marathi film lovers will witness two much talked about films on different subjects releasing together. The first film is a star studded ‘Mala Kahich Problem Nahi‘ directed by Sameer Vidwans , with youngsters Gashmeer Mahajani and Spruha Joshi in the lead, while the other film ‘Kachha Limbu‘ directed by actor turned director Prasad Oak with renowned artistes like Sachin Khedekar, Sonali Kulkarni along with director turned actor Ravi Jadhav and Manmeet Pem in a very special role.
Now, looking at these two films, it is clearly understood that both the films are targeting on different types of audience. While ‘Mala Kahich Problem Nahi’ will invite the attention of young audience, ‘Kachha Limbu’ will invite the attention of audience, who would appreciate the subject, besides the performances of the artistes. Looking at the competition for booking the theatres, both the films have managed to book maximum cinema halls in and around Mumbai. But, as the past experience tells, the film which has better hold over its screenplay, always invites audience, through word of mouth publicity. So, it remains to be seen, which film invites more crowd in theatres during the first three days. With two holidays during the later part of the week, the time is just right for both these films.

Veteran Marathi celebrities pay homage to Late Uma Bhende
Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chittrapat Mahamandal had arranged a prayer meeting for Late legendary actress Uma Bhende at the Mini Auditorium of Ravindra Natya Mandir on Tuesday evening. Many veteran personalities from Marathi film industry were present on this occasion, including stalwarts like Ramesh Deo, Shubha Khote, Viju Khote, Jayashree T, Jayprakash Karnataki, Rajdutt, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Ramesh Bhatkar, Varsha Usgaonkar , Meghraj Bhosale & Vijay Patkar. A video film covering the achievements of Uma Bhende was also shown on this occasion, after homage was paid to the late legendary actress.
92 year old grand old man of Film industry Ramesh Deo recalled his association with Uma Bhende during 60s, when he played her hero in films. He called her as the most beautiful and wonderful person. Sachin Pilgaonkar also spoke good about the actress and recalled his association with her during the shooting of Rajdutt directed hit Marathi film ‘Madhuchandra‘. Sachin had played a child star ion this film. “My mother who used to accompany me during the shooting of this film had become a very good friend of Umaji and she also helped her in her dress up, as her character demanded modern type of sarees. I used to respect her a lot, as I learned so many things from her. Since then, we became good family friends,” said Sachin. Further, Sachin also praised Prasad Bhende son of Prakash and Uma Bhende, who was present there, for his excellent work as cinematographer and wished him all the success.
Varsha Usgaonkar, Jayashree T, Shubha Khote, Viju Khote, Jayprakash Karnataki, Ramesh Bhatkar, Rajdutt also recalled some memorable moments in the company of Uma Bhende. They all called her a humble woman, who always welcomed them with a smiling face and never hurt anyone. Finally, Prakash Bhende turned very emotional while narrating how his arranged marriage with actress Uma turned into post love marriage.
