Kranti Redkar to produce her Reality show on OTT platform
Kranti Redkar’s own production house ‘That Happy Girl‘ will be producing a unique reality show on Planet Marathi’s OTT platform. After having presented web films and web series on their OTT platform, this is new step taken by Planet Marathi, to offer a reality show produced by Kranti Redkar. Speaking about this show, Planet Marathi Chief Mr. Akshay Bardapurkar said that it will be a different type of reality show, details of which will be announced soon.
Producer Kranti Redkar said, “ It is a great pleasure to associate with Planet Marathi for this show as a producer, as earlier I had done a film ‘Rainbow’ with them and had a very good experience of working with them. Planet Marathi always think about the taste of the audience. I am sure, this show will be appreciated by the people all over Maharashtra, as it will open opportunities for newcomers.”
Mrunal Kulkarni’s Web Film ‘Sahela Re’ on OTT Platform
Directed by Mrunal Kulkarni, forthcoming Marathi Web Film ‘Sahela Re (सहेला रे)’ is all set to release on Planet Marathi OTT platform from 1st October 2022. With the tagline ‘Kaahi Natyanna Naav Nasata – काही नात्याना नाव नसतं ’ ( Some relationships have no name) this web film stars Mrunal Kulkarni, Subodh Bhave and Sumeet Raghavan in lead roles. It may be recalled that the Teaser of this web film was launched during the Dubai Expo 2020. Highlight of this film is that besides directing and acting in this film, Mrunal Kulkarni has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues of this film.
Special show of this film was held during the Goa International Film Festival followed by recent special show of this film held at the 5th India International film festival in Boston. According to Akshay Bardapurkar founder of Planet Marathi, this film is a family film with sensitive topic unfolding the different shades in human relationship.
Marathi films well received on OTT Platform
During the year 2020 and 2021 we had seen some of the Marathi films released on OTT platform due to spread of Corona virus. Subsequently, the theatres were opened after lifting of lockdown. But, there wasn’t satisfying response for Marathi as well as Hindi films, as it used to be prior to 2020. But, the same Marathi Films when released on OTT platform received good response not only amongst the Marathi viewers but also among non- Marathi viewers.
To be specific, this year 2022, we saw very good response to ‘Dharmaveer’ a biopic on Late Shiv Sena leader from Thane Anand Dighe. Prasad Oak who played his role received appreciation besides winning awards. Now, recently released films like ‘Dagadi Chawl-2 ( On Amazon Prime), ‘Chandramukhi ( On Netflix), Anannya and ‘Time Pass 3’ on Zee 5 besides ‘Zombivali’ and ‘Benwad’ are also inviting attention on OTT platform. Does that mean that Marathi film lovers prefer to watch the films sitting at home and while travelling on their mobile phones?
Sumant Shinde has taken extra efforts in ‘Boyz 3′
The trio of popular characters Dhairya, Dhungya and Kabir have become very popular with the films ‘Boyz’ and ‘Boyz-2’. Now, in ‘Boyz-3’ which is released this week, it is understood that the trio has played lots of mischief. But, Kabir played by Sumant Shinde seems to have worked more harder, as he is seen fighting with real wrestlers in the film.
The action director worked very hard in preparing Sumant for taking on the real wrestlers, as the script of this film demanded the same. According to director Vishal Devrukhkar,” Wrestling is the biggest sport in Maharashtra. We included Wrestling in the story of this film for this reason. For Sumant, this was the most challenging part, as he had to face the real life wrestlers. But, the action director handled these sequences very efficiently.”
Along with Sumant Shinde, ‘Boyz-3’ stars Parth Bhalerao, Pratik Lad and Vidula Chougule in lead roles.
More than 50 artistes team to entertain in ‘Bhaubali’
Zee Studios are getting ready to offer more than 50 artistes team through their forthcoming entertaining film ‘Bhaubali’ directed by Samir Patil. Based on situation based comedy, this much awaited Marathi film has big team of popular artistes from Film industry like Kishore Kadam, Manoj Joshi, Medha Manjrekar, Hrishikesh Joshi, Resham Tipnis, Priyadarshini Indalkar, Aashay Kulkarni, Santosh Pawar, Tushar Ghadigaonkar, Shardul Saraf, Sachin Bhilare, Anand Alkunte, Vishwas Sohoni, Rasika Aagashe, Vijay kenkre, Srikar Pitre and others.
The film presents people from different lifestyles and their differences when they come face to face, in this film. In short, every situation has been presented in a humorous way. And that’s the motto of this film. This film is all set to release on 16th September 2022 in theatres.
Vaishali Samant’s song ‘Saang Na’ released
Vaishali Samant has released her own song ‘Saang Na’ in video format in association with T- Series and with the team of herself along with Abhijit- Sukhada together as artistes and Ashwin and Rahul together as lyricist and cinematographer . It may be recalled that for the past several years Vaishali has made progress not only as a singer but also as a lyricist and music composer.
Speaking about her latest song, Vaishali said that it was a good team work, which made it possible to shoot this song in a day’s time. I am thankful to Abhijit and Sukhada for coming together for the first time for this song video and also thankful to Ashwin for his beautiful wordings and Rahul Khandare for capturing these moments in the video form. She also thanked T Series for their support.
‘Kaalsutra’ will be an action packed Marathi web show

Ever since Subodh Bhave read the story of ‘Murder Milestone’, he was keen on making a web series on this subject. His dream came true, when Jio Studios backed him and together with his production house ‘Kanha’ he is making the web series suitably titled ‘Kaalsutra’ which will be released soon on OTT platform.
Directed by Bhimrao Mude, this action filled thriller will star Subodh Bhave along with Sayaji Shinde, Anant Jog, Urmila Kanetkar Kothare, Bhau kadam, Pushkaraj Chirputkar, Shubhankar Tawde, Umesh Jagtap and Ashwini Kasar in lead roles. The story of this series revolves around a dangerous serial killer and an accomplished Police officer and their mind game.
Shreyas – Mukta starrer film ‘Aapdi Thapdi’ teaser launched
The teaser of Shreyas Talpade and Mukta Barve starrer much talked about Marathi film ‘Aapdi Thapdi’ was launched recently. This film will be released in theatres all over Maharashtra on the occasion of Dushera on 5th October 2022. Produced and presented by K.C Pande’s K Silent production house, this film is directed by Anand kareer.
The film tells an entertaining family drama of Patil family and revolves around Sakharam Patil and his wife. Written by Anand kareer and Sunita Kareer the film stars Shreyas Talpade, Mukta Barve along with Nandu Madhav, Sandeep Pathak, Navin Prabhakar, Khushi Hazare, in lead roles. Cinematography is by Suman Sahoo.
Jio Studios lined up with their Marathi films
Till now, Jio Studios have offered variety of films and web series in different Indian languages. Now, Jio Studios are very active, making their impression in Marathi entertainment industry. This year, they started off with ‘Mee Vasantrao’ a musical entertainer, which completed 100 days run in theatres. The film also received two national awards one for Rahul Deshpande( Best Playback singer) and Anmol Bhave( Best Audiograph Sound Design). The film was also praised by Critics.
Now, their next step is to produce Marathi films and web series involving big names like Mahesh Manjrekar, Prashant Damle, Sukanya Kulkarni, Sayaji Shinde, Jitendra Joshi, Bhau kadam, Kedar Shinde, Ankush Choudhari, Rahul Deshpande, Hruta Durgule in their forthcoming projects.
Some prominent films among them are, Bhau Kadam- Bhushan Patil starrer ‘Ghe Double’ directed Vishwas Patil, which is all set for release on 30th September 2022.This will be followed by Int. Film Fest award winner film ‘Godavari’, to be released on 11th November 2022. Thereafter, for the New year 2023 they have planned to release Kedar Shinde’s entertaining film ‘Baipan Bhari Deva‘ on 6th January 2023. There are two more films also lined up for 2023 release and they are ‘Ek Don Teen Char’ followed by ‘Unaad’ sometime in April-May 2023.
‘Bunny’ screened at Fort Smith Int. Film Fest
Marathi film ‘Bunny’ was recently screened at the Fort Smith International Film Festival, USA. ‘Bunny’ was the only Marathi film, selected for this festival among the 137 films from thirty different countries. The films selected for this festival represented diversified culture on different subjects like Sci-Fi, Drama, comedy, thriller and action.
Speaking about his film, writer-director Nilesh Upadhye said, “Bunny is Socio-Psychic thriller which speaks on the present burning social issue. Producer Shanker Dhuri who makes his debut as a film producer is happy that his film could travel across the globe with a social message. Child artiste Sanvi Raje plays the title role of Bunny in this film, along with Shailesh Korde and Sheetal Gaikwad. DOP Kartik Katkar, Sound design Abhijit Shriram Deo, art direction Anil Vath, editing Yogesh Bhatt,background music Akshay Eluripatti are the other credits of this film.
