In the past, we have seen many Marathi actresses switching over from Marathi to Hindi cinema, as they received good offers from Hindi film producers. Right from the 60s era this trend has continued. Sulochana Didi and lalita Pawar made the beginning and then many like Seema Deo, Jayashree Gadkar, Reema lagoo, Nishigandha Wad, Smita Jaykar, Varsha Usgaonkar, Kishori Shahane, Neena Kulkarni, Ashwini Bhave, Sonali Kulkarni and so on followed their footsteps . And why not ? After all through Hindi cinema their talent was reaching out to the entire country.

Of late we are watching the successful progress of one more Marathi actress Amruta Khanvilkar. Though Amruta made her simultaneous debut in Hindi and Marathi cinema in 2006 through films like ‘Golmaal‘( Marathi) and ‘Mumbai salsa‘( Hindi) , followed by ‘Sade Made Teen‘( Marathi) ‘Hattrick‘ , ‘Phoonk‘ & ‘Contract‘(Hindi), she tried to play the balancing act, performing both in Hindi as well as Marathi. Though in Hindi films she could not find challenging roles, Amruta found some good lead roles in films like ‘Zhakas‘, ‘Satarangee Re‘, ‘Baazi‘, ‘Aayna Ka Bayna‘,’Welcome Zindagi‘, ‘Katyar kaljat Ghusali‘ and that most popular dance item in ‘Natarang‘.

Amruta had also switched over to Hindi TV through dance reality show and emerging winner of that show. But, very recently we saw her in a prominent role of Muinira in a hit Hindi film ‘Raazi‘. This was followed by her appearance in another prominent role in a Hindi web series. And now, we will be watching her in the role of Sarita in another big Bolywood film ‘Satyamev Jayate‘ which is set for release on 15^th August. Amruta is playing the wife of another talented Hindi film actor Manoj Bajpayee, who is playing the role of an Indian Cop. And, this certainly makes us think whether Amruta is now focussing more on Hindi films?
