‘Chitrakarmi’ is an inspiring precious treasure – Sonali Kulkarni
Every artiste leaves behind something, when he says ‘goodbye’ to this world. Tributes are paid to such artiste on social media for next one or two days. Actually, the contribution of this artiste is to be remembered forever. Writer- lyricist and screenplay writer Ashish Ningurkar has written a book titled ‘Chitrakarmi‘ which covers such artistes and their contribution.
Recently, this book was released by renowned actress Sonali Kulkarni, who was all praise for this book. “This book is an inspiring precious treasure,” she said . Along with Sonali other dignitaries present on this occasion were, actress Prarthana Behere, Sr. Journalist Mr. Rahul Ranalkar, Sagar Vaidya( senate Member of Savitribai Phule University – Pune) , organisrer Mr. Motilal Tayde and Writer- Ashish Ningurkar.
This book covers the life journey of 30 well Known artistes namely, Durga Khote, raja Paranjape, Sharad Talwalkar, Ganpat Patil, Dr. Shreeram Lagoo, Ramesh Deo, Shrikant Moghe, Nilu Phule, Prabhakar Panshikar, Jagdish Khebudkar, Prof. Madhukar Toradmal, Shashikala, Dada Kondke, Arun Sarnaik, Kishore Pradhan, Rajshekhar, Ravi Patwardhan, Ashalata Wabgaonkar, Viju Khote, Jayashree Gadkar, Sumitra Bhave, Ilahi Jamadar, Kuldeep Pawar, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Vinay Apte, Laxmikant Berde, Vijay Chavan, Smita Patil, Satish Tare and Rajeev Patil.
Ashish Ningurkar’s short film ‘Sankraman’ selected for Dehradun Int Fest
Writer- actor Ashish Ningurkar’s short film ‘Sankraman’ has been selected for forthcoming Dehradoon International film festival which is scheduled between 17th and 19th September 2021. From among 1167 entries received for this film festival, short film ‘Sankraman’ has received five nominations, namely ‘Best Social short film’, ‘Best Production- Kavya Dream Movies’ , ‘Best subject- Sankraman’, ‘Best Writer- Ashish Ningurkar’ & ‘Best actor- Pradeep Kadu’.

This short film is directed by debutant Vijay Kamble and the lead artistes of this film are, Pradeep Kadu, Pratish Sonavane, Sunil Jadhav, Aniket kadu, Praveen Kadu and Ashish Ningurkar. Cinematography by Siddhesh Dalvi and editing by Vijay Kamble are the other credits. The film deals with an important social message about observing social distancing to avoid spread of corona virus, especially during this coming Ganesh Festival, when people are expected to gather in large number. In short, it deals with a timely subject.
Ashish Ningurkar as lyricist and actor in ‘Well Done Boys’
After the success of ‘Aamhi Chamakte Taare’ Sainath Chitra are all set to present their next film ‘Well Done Boys’. Shooting of this film is over and it will now be released soon on OTT platform. Enthusiastic all rounder connected with Marathi films Ashish Ningurkar who besides managing his job in Indian Postal Services, has written lyrics of this film besides performing a small role. Ashish has already performed in many films and TV serials besides writing screenplay and lyrics.
‘Well Done Boys’ is Produced, directed and edited by Prakash Aatmaram Jadhav and stars Mohan Joshi, Vijay Patkar, Shilpa Prabhulkar, Priyaranjan, Vinod Jolly and Ashish Ningurkar. The film revolves around the dedicated teachers who try to find the best out of mischievous children from their school to make them worthy in this world. Meaningful lyrics of Ashish have received music from Shrirang Aras and S.P. Sen, while singers like Pallavi Kelkar, Shyamal Savke, Geeta and J.P. Dutta have rendered their voices for the songs in this film.

Today is the time of digital world. Most of the people sitting at home are watching web series, instead of watching old serials and films, for their entertainment. Even short films are finding good viewership, as in a shortest time these films are able to convey a message very effectively. In fact the makers of short films are very creative people as they try to cover the happenings around us in a simple way. And this is the strength of a short film.
Kavya Dream Movies and Ms. Kiran Ningurkar are presenting one such timely short film suitably titled ‘Sankraman’, which talks about the dangers of corona virus. The film has actually shown how corona virus is spread giving an example of a youngster approaching a senior citizen in the neighbourhood for contribution to community Ganapati festival celebration. Vijay Kamble will be making his debut in direction through this film, while the script is written by Ashish Ningurkar. Camera by Siddhesh Dalvi and editing by Vijay kamble are the other credits. The poster of this film is designed by Sumedh Gaikwad.
‘Aarsaa’ a short film on Cancer awareness released on OTT platform
Due to ongoing lockdown restrictions, there is a big demand for films on OTT platform. Among these films on variety of subjects, there are many short films too. Recently, one such film ‘Aarsa’ on social issue written by Ashish Ningurkar has been released on ‘Hungama Play’ OTT platform. This film presents the story of a girl, whose mother is suffering from Cancer. The girl promises her mother to look after her. While fulfilling her promise, her boyfriend deserts her.
Through this film there is a very good message delivered, comparing our life with a mirror. And questioning what if there were no mirrors in this world? ‘If our eyes were clean and clear, one would have peeped into them’ is the message the film offers. The film is directed by Ganesh Modak and edited by Harshad Vaiti. Cinematography is by Yogesh Andhare and this film stars Shweta Pagar, Chaitra Bhujbal, Sanket Kashyap, Geetanjali Kambli, Vaishnavi Velapure & Dr. Smita kasar.
Ashish Ningurkar releases his book on Film Production
Ashish Ningurkar who has been associated with Marathi film industry as a writer, lyricist , screenplay writer and actor has released his book on Film Production, suitably titled ‘Te 14 Divas’ with a tagline Sukhad Swapnapoortiche’ on social media recently. Published by Pratibha Prakashan the writer has described his 14 days of hard work which he feels would help all those aspiring film makers to understand the film production. Right from pre production, actual shooting schedule with setting of camera angles , lighting etc. and post production work till release of film , he takes you on a journey of film production.
It may be recalled that Ashish was already completely associated with films like ‘Rairand’ and ‘Ek Hota Pani’ which received international acclaim. He had also translated Sunil Barve’s book ‘Herbarium’. He has written two sets of his poems. Now, through this book he would like to help all those who would like to know how a film is produced and what challenges one has to face in film making process. According to Ashish this book will inspire young aspiring film makers.
Premiere of Marathi Short Films Niyam (Rules) and Kulupband (Locked) Scheduled in Canada
Marathi films have already made their mark at the national and international levels. A noteworthy addition to this canon was made recently by a promising Marathi writer-director Ashish Ningurkar with his short films ‘Niyam’ and ‘Kulupband’. These short films will now be screened in Torrento, Canada. Thanks to an initiative taken by ‘World Globe’, an Organisation founded by a renowned industrialist Fredrie Regon. The online premiere of the films will be followed by a Webinar to discuss various aspects of these artistic endeavours.
Both these short films have been conceived, scripted, shot and directed by Ashish Ningurkar himself. Mrs. Kiran Ningurkar produced them under ‘Kavya Dream Movies’. The starcast of the films includes Ashok Ningurkar, Jayshree Ningurkar, Swaroop Kasar and Anurag Ningurkar. Abhishek Lagas has edited the films.
The shooting of the films was done strictly indoors, during the Lockdown period. The films make an emotional appeal to the viewers to follow the rules to cope with the Corona pandemic. Through them the director wants to pass on a pertinent message that human life is precious and a little haste will snatch it from us. It’s better to stay away from others for the time being.
Ashish Ningurkar and his team has been widely congratulated for this outstanding achievement. This success story of a youngster from rural background is indeed inspiring to every Indian.
‘Ek Hota Pani’ selected for Mysore International Film Festival
Marathi film ‘Ek Hota Pani’ has been selected for screening at the forthcoming Mysore International film Festival and this is a good news for the makers of this film. The film has also received various nominations in different categories of this film fest. Above all, the writer of this film Ashish Ningurkar has already been declared an award for the best writing on social issue.
Produced by Dr. Pravin Bhujbal and Vijay Tiwari , directed by Rohan Satghare with cinematography by Yogesh Andhare the film has invited all the attention for drawing attention of the audience to the most important issue of water, which is crucial in our life. The film stars Anant Jog, Hansraj Jagtap, Sriya Mastekar, Chaitra Bhujbal, Ganesh Mayekar, Yatin Karyekar, Ranjit Jog, Jairaj Nair, Ashish Ningurkar and Upendra Datey.
Last year this film had already received appreciation at many film festivals and now with its selection for Mysore International Water Film Festival, the makers have added one more feather in their cap. The festival will begin soon after the lockdown restrictions are lifted.
Ashish Ningurkar shoots a Social short film on Corona awareness at home
‘Where there is a will, there is a way.’ A creative person cannot sit idle, even in the period of lock-down. In the present situation of lockdown due to spread of corona virus, when majority of the people are required to sit at home and watch movies and news on television or play leisurely games like carom and playing cards, writer, lyricist Ashish Ningurkar has attempted something out of the box. Ashish has been part of some sensible films like ‘Rairand’, ‘Ek Hota Pani’ and short films like ‘Aarsa’ and documentary like ‘Coma’ .
Ashish who works for Postal department in Ghatkoper, Mumbai is held up in his house at his native place Vambori in Nagar district. But, instead of sitting idle, while reading books, he came across an idea of shooting a short film at home, using his own family members in the cast of the film. So, observing the rule of ‘Work from Home’, the film was shot in a day to create awareness about the danger of corona virus and the precautions to be taken by people. After completing the film, when his family members watched this film, they were extremely happy to see the impact created by this film.
Ashish himself has conceived the idea of the script and has directed this film, besides handling the camera. His father Ashok Ningurkar, mother Jayashree Ningurkar, cousin Swarup kasar have performed in this film, while Ishant Sigh and Abhishek Lagas have done the editing work. The film has already become viral on social media.
‘Aarsaa’ wins Shirur Short Film Festival audience choice award
Written by Ashish Ningurkar and directed by Ganesh Modak Marathi short film ‘Aarsaa’ has won the audience choice Best film award at the Shirur Short Film festival recently. The festival was hosted by Krantiveer Pratishthan and Shirur Taluka Sanskrutik Mahotsav 2020 jointly. The screening of the participating films was done at the seminar hall of marvel Inn hotel , Shirur and received a good response.
The film stars Shweta Pagar in the lead role along with Chaitra Bhujbal, Sanket kashyap, Gitanjali Kambli and Dr. Smita Kasar. The film has already won awards and appreciation at different festivals in Mumbai, Pune and Indapur. ‘Aarsaa’ creates awareness about the cancer ailment and has shown how a cancer patient can be helped by common people. The film has also tried to remove some misunderstandings about this ailment.
There were instant reactions coming from the audience after the screening of this film, who not only appreciated the film but also took active part in question – answer session with the team of the film.
