Ajay Phansekar launches first look poster of his new film ‘Senior Citizen’
Known for some of his sensible films like ‘Ratra Aarambh’, ‘Ek Hotee Vaadi’, ‘Ramchandra Purshottam Joshi’ & ‘Cheater’, actor turned director Ajay Phansekar is getting ready to release his next Marathi film ‘Senior Citizen’ Recently, the first look poster of this film was launched via social media . And, it has raised a lot of curiosity about this film.

Madhuri Naganand and Vijaykumar narang of Om Creations have produced this film with Raju Savla as creative producer. The poster shows the back image of a senior citizen facing the youngsters, thus creating a curiosity whether this film would bring the seniors and the youngsters together. The film stars Suyog Gorhe, Amruta Pawar, Sneha Chavan, Shruti Boradia, Kiran Tambe, Amol Jadhav , Gaurish Shipurkar, Harshal Pawar along with other important artistes whose names have not been disclosed yet.
B. Lakshman has done the cinematography of this film, while Rakesh Kudalkar has carried out the editing work. Abhijeet Narvekar has composed the music, while Amit Baing is the choreographer. The film will be released soon all over Maharashtra.
Five Marathi films selected for Indian Panorama at IFFI 2019
The 50 th International Film Festival of India is scheduled to be held in Goa from 20th to 28th November 2019. And the good news is that five Marathi films have been selected in Indian Panorama at Iffi 2019 among the 26 films to be screened on this occasion. The film lovers numbering about 10, 000 will get an opportunity to witness 200 best films from 76 countries at this Golden Jubilee celebrations of IFFI.

The names of the five films selected in Indian Panorama are, ‘Tujhya Aaila’ directed by Sujay Dahake, ‘Anandi Gopal’ by Sameer Vidwans, ‘Bhonga’ by Shivaji Lotan Patil, ‘Mai Ghat-Crime No. 103/2005′ by Anant Mahadevan, ‘Photo Prem’ by Aditya Rathi & Gayatri Patil. It may be recalled that last year there were only two Marathi films in this Indian panorama, but this year the number has risen to five. Competing with them will be 3 films each from Bengali and Malyalam language. So, there is a lot to be expected from these five films.
Music of action packed Marathi film ‘Dandam’ launched in a big way
Marathi films are known for their out of the box subjects all over the world. But, some Marathi film makers are also capable of making action packed films with strong subject on the lines of South films. One such Marathi film ‘Dandam’ is all set for release on 18th October 2019. Recently, the music of this film was launched in a big way in presence of film’s artistes Mayur raut, Ripunjay Lashkare, Santosh Ware, Akshay Jambhale, Ajay Chopde, Sonaji Patil and Mayur Deshmukh. Director of this film V.Sattu, lyricist Sagar Babanagar and music director Abhimanyu Karlekar were also present on this occasion. Prior to this, the trailer of this film had also received a very good response.

Speaking on this occasion director Sattu said, “Just making meaningful Marathi films does not work. If one has to make a quality Marathi cinema to compete with South film, it should have solid action. To make such a film with newcomers was difficult, but I enjoyed doing it. In this film only hero does not possess six pecks but also the co artistes. The efforts taken by these artistes will be an excitement to watch on the screen.” Sangram Chougule who has won Mr. Universe crown in the Body building competition is all set to make his acting debut through this film and he too is excited to see his dream come true. He is confident that his fans in bodybuilding field would also respond well for his film.
Tejaswini Pandit & Abhidnya Bhave offer ‘Tejadnya’ for your complete makeover
Popular Marathi actresses Tejaswini Pandit & Abhidnya Bhave are both known for their wonderful performances on big and small screens. Now, together they have created their own brand ‘Tejadnya’ which offers collection of different things through their exhibitions held from time to time. This time on the occasion of Dushera-Diwali celebrations they were ready to offer their collections for the festive season shopping in Thane. This exhibition which was held on 5th and 6th October in Thane offered collections for men and women and it received a good response from Thanekars.

Speaking about their exhibits Tejaswini Pandit said, “Last year we had offered Golden ornaments collection, but this year we focussed more on Silver jewellery of different types. For women we also displayed Sarees with Saraswati prints on borders besides six yard Paithani sarees for Diwali. There were western outfits and for men we offered designer Kurtas besides attractive gift items.”
At the age of 78 Ashok Patki is still active; composes music of ‘Bakaal’
Music legend of Marathi film industry Ashok Patki is still active. His latest film ‘Bakaal’ directed by Sameer Athalye is all set for release on 8th November 2019. Music of this film was released recently in Mumbai, when Ashok Patki was present along with artistes of this film Ganesh Yadav, Yatin Karekar, Pooja Nayak, newcomer Chaitanya mestry, Jui Bendkhale, singers Hrishikesh Ranade, Prajakta Ranade, director Sameer Athlye, Producers Rajkumar Menda, Sonu Menda, choreographer Dilip Mestry- Deepa Mestri, fight master Andlib Pathan, writer Abhiram Bhadkamkar, Milind Save and distributors Sameer Dixit and Hrishikesh Bhirangi.

For the first time music director Ashok Patki has tried something different from his traditional music, as he has experimented with western style of music to suit the requirement of this action film which is connected with the youth. But, his experiment has surprised everyone in the team including the director, who have praised his commitment. Mr. Ashok Patki has thanked the producers and director for showing faith in him to produce this western type of music, which he had never attempted before. Out of five songs one of them is an item number and three are dance numbers.

The mixing of these songs has been done Vijay Dayal of yashraj Studios, while a big team of upcoming and prominent singers like Siddharth Mahadevan, Amey Date, Jasraj Joshi, Hrishikesh Ranade, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Aadarsh Shinde, Madhuri Karmarkar, Janhavi Arora, Kavita Ram, Prajakta ranade, Dhanashree Deshpande, Amruta Dahivalkar have rendered their voices for the five songs in this film.
Sai Tamhankar to play a protagonist in Gajendra Ahire’s next ‘Kulkarni Chowkatala Deshpande’
Both Sai Tamhankar and Gajendra Ahire are well known in Marathi film industry for their distinctiveness in acting and direction respectively. While Gajendra Ahire has completed his Golden jubilee in film direction, Sai Tamhankar is almost nearing towards this mark with 40+ films. Now, both of them are working together in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Kulkarni Chowkatala Deshpande’, which will be released on 22nd November 2019 all over Maharashtra.

It may be recalled that both of them have established themselves in their respective fields and therefore it will be interesting to see Sai Tamhankar perform under Gajendra’s direction. In this film Sai will be playing a protagonist middle class character. Recently the poster of this film was released, which clearly shows Sai in the different stages of daughter, wife, Mother and fiancée . This also makes it clear that this is the most challenging role for the actress and hence has generated a lot of interest among her fans.

‘Times Marathi Film Icon 2019′ felicitate Marathi on screen and back stage artistes
Marathi films with their out of the box scripts have already impressed the film lovers all over the world. So, it will not be surprising if the top media houses don’t take note of the talented Marathi artistes and people behind making such films with mind blowing subjects. One such media house in Times Group, which had organised a big event (Times Marathi Film Icon) on Tuesday to felicitate Marathi artistes for their on screen performances over the years and those behind the screen for their contribution in making quality award winning films.

The grand event titled ‘Times Marathi Film Icon 2019′ felicitated three prominent Marathi artistes like Ashok Saraf, Sachin Pilgaonkar and Mahesh Manjrekar on this occasion. But apart from these three other talented personalities like Subodh Bhave, Amruta Khanvilkar, Ajay- Atul, Guru Thakur Aadarsh Shinde, Vikram Gaikwad & Mahesh Limaye were also honoured.

Reacting on his felicitation legend of Marathi film industry Ashok Saraf said, “This award is like an acknowledgement for my work. I was always having a doubt whether what I perform is really appreciated by the audience? But, with this award that doubt has been cleared.” Renowned actor director Producer Sachin Pilgaonkar also thanked Times Group and recalled his memories of his film ‘Ashi Hi Banvabanavi’ which was made by him 31 years ago. He also paid tributes to late Viju Khote who passed away only few days ago.
Ajay Atul whose music had popularised among music lovers during the past decade entertained the audience singing in their melodious voice. Among others who entertained the invitees were singers Priyanka Barve, Aditi Bhagwat and the team of ‘Bharatiya Digital Party’ which presented their stand up comedy. Pushkar Shrotri anchored the show . Marathi Play ‘Daha By Daha’ reaches Golden Jubilee mark
Family related subjects have always invited the attention of Marathi drama lovers. One such subject presented through recently launched Marathi Play ‘Daha By Daha’ produced by Sachin Narkar, Vikas Pawarand Aakash Pendharkar has also received overwhelming response from the Marathi theatre audience . In a very short time this play will perform the Golden Jubilee show, which certainly needs appreciation.

‘Daha By Daha’ presents the story of Ghadigaonkar family living a simple traditional lifestyle. But, how this family breaks this traditional comfort zone to attempt something different is the focus of this play. And it is for this reason the play has successfully marched to Golden Jubilee show shortly with the positive response from the audience.
This play stars Vijay Patkar, Prathamesh Parab, Supriya Pathare, Vidisha Mhaskar, Gaurav Malankar and Amir Tadwalkar. Sanjay Jamkhandi and Vaibhav Sanap are the writers while Aniket Patil has directed this play. Music by Ashutosh Waghmare, Light effects by Vijay Gole , production design by Sandesh Bendre, make up by Hitesh Pawar and dress design by Rashmi Sawant are the other credits.

Reacting to their success the producer and team members have said that they themselves have also taken inspiration from the Ghadigaonkar family presented through this play and are looking forward to achieve their next milestones of 100, 500 and 1000 shows.
Makers of award winning Short Film ‘Utarand’ to launch commercial Marathi film
Under the banner of their Zebra Entertainment they made their first short film ‘Utarand’ which won many national and international awards at various film festivals for the past two years. This film was on the subject of environment awareness. But now, this production house is all set to enter Marathi films with their new commercial film which will be a light hearted comedy.

Speaking about his production house, producer Sanjay Golapkar says, “After launching our production house, our first film was ‘Utarand’ which received very good response at various film festivals. And this praise received from such audience encouraged us to make a Marathi film which will offer wholesome entertainment. “
While explaining about their new film Mr. Sanjay added, ” Actually Music director and Lyricist team of Ganesh- Suresh had directed our previous film. Now, the story of this new film is written by them. Very soon we will announce the name of this film and the starcast. One thing I can assure is that this new entertaining film can be enjoyed by the entire family together. Shortly we will start shooting of this film and in the beginning of 20120 this film will be released.”
Veteran Marathi actor Viju Khote passes away
Veteran Marathi actor Viju Khote who made his acting debut in films through Marathi film ‘Ya Malak’ way back in 1964 is no more. He passed away today morning in his sleep at his residence. Viju Sir was no keeping well for some time due to multiple organ failure and was hospitalised on few occasions. However, at his request, during his last stage he preferred to remain at home. He was 77.

Viju Khote came into prominence because of his role of ‘Kalia’ in the super hit Hindi film ‘Sholay’ , where he played the right hand of Amjad Khan the main villain Gabbar in this film. His dialogue “Sardar, maine aap ka namak khaya hai sardar” had also become very popular . He had worked in about 300 Hindi and Marathi films in his acting career for the past 55 years. Viju Sir played a very important role in National award winning Marathi film ‘Uttarayan’ and ‘Ventilator’ was his last Marathi film released in 2016.
It may be recalled that Viju Sir was the chief guest at the MMW award function in 2015, when despite ill health he attended the function. He belonged to the family of late veteran actress Dura Khote . Veteran popular actress Shubha Khote his sister and he was uncle of actress Bhavna Balsavar.
