Actress Smita Tambe turns producer with ‘Saavat’
Actress Smita Tambe, who has been part of many award winning sensible Marathi films for the past few years, has turned producer with the film ‘Saavat’. Smita will be producing this film under the banner of Ringing Rain production in association with Niraksha Films & Lateral Works Pvt Ltd. Directed by Saurabh Sinha, this film stars Smita Tambe in the lead role of CBI Officer Aditi Deshmukh.
Smita who is inspired by the performances of actresses like Late Smita Patil in ‘Umbartha’ & ‘Jait Re Jait’, Smita Talwalkar in ‘Chaukat Raja’, Madhu Kambikar in ‘Vidushak’, Neena Kulkarni in ‘Uttarayan’, always felt that she should perform a strong character of a woman in films. Speaking about her involvement in production, Smita said that when Saurabh approached her with the script of this film, she felt that she should also involve herself in production, besides performing the lead role. Along with Smita the film stars Shwetambari, Milind Shirole & Sanjeevani Jadhav. The film will be released all over Maharashtra on 22ndMarch 2019.
First Teaser of Marathi film ‘Wedding Cha Shinema’ released
Well known music composer, singer and author Saleel Kulkarni who has turned Director with the film ‘Wedding Cha Shinema‘, is all set to release his film all over the Maharashtra on 12th April 2019. ‘Wedding Cha Shinema‘ features Mukta Barve, Bhau Kadam, Shivaji Satam, Alka Kubal, Sunil Barve, Ashwini Kalsekar, Pravin Tarde, Sankarshan Karhade, Prajakta Hanmagar, Yogini Pofale along with debutant lead pair Shivraj Waichal and Rucha Inamdar.
Teaser of this film was released recently. With Story written by Saleel Kulkarni himself, the film revolves around many lighter, soothing moments that we usually witness during the wedding ceremonies around us. According to the makers, ‘Wedding Cha Shinema‘ depicts every aspect of the wedding celebration and catches every enjoyable glimpse out of it, so as to present a complete family entertainment. It is presented by Everest Entertainment and produced by Gerua and PESB.
‘Dombivli Return’- A psychological experience of a common man

In ‘Dombivli Fast‘ released in 14 years ago, we saw the story of a middle-class bank employee, Madhav Apte, an ordinary, law-abiding and honest citizen who faces constant frustration with the injustice and corruption that pervades in all walks of his life. Now, Sandeep Kulkarni who was the lead actor of ‘Dombivli Fast‘ makes his comeback after about 5 years through ‘Dombivli Return‘, in which besides playing the lead role, he has also turned producer. Directed by Mahendra Teredesai this film is also set on the backdrop of Dombivli and the middle-class family. It displays the psychological experience of a middle-class Government servant Anant Velankar( Sandeep Kulkarni), who is honest; but lands into trouble when he discovers a secret of his most respected Boss, who is the minister.
How it affects his personal life, the director has shown it very cleverly; keeping in mind the set rules of middle-class morals. But, what would happen, if someone like Velankar tries to break these rules? Will his conscience permit him to do so? This is what director Mahendra Teredesai has tried to show through five important characters, in this film.
Sandeep Kulkarni in the role of Anant Velankar has given his best through this role. Being one of the producers, he has put in extra efforts in many emotion filled scenes. In the role of his wife, Rajeshwari Sachdev has offered very good support. Watch her in one of the scenes, where she is shown turning hysteric. In the supporting role, Amol Parashar has done a good job, while playing Anant’s younger brother. Hrishikesh Joshi is also one such actor in this film, who has given a wonderful performance, in the role of Anant’s close friend; while little Tanishka Shinde, looks very natural while playing Anant’s daughter.
Music by Shailendra Barve is apt for this kind of film, while Udaysingh Mohite’s photography, has given ‘Dombivli Return‘ film a special look. There is one good message offered by this film, ‘If you want to judge one’s character, bestow him with power.’ All in all, ‘Dombivli Return‘ is a kind of film, that will make you think.

We are all aware that Sachin Pilgaonkar directed Marathi film ‘Ashi Hi Aashiqui ‘ is all set for release on 1st March 2019. Recently, the trailer of this film was released. And after watching this trailer, Big B- Mr. Amitabh Bachchan has showered praise on Sachin Pilgaonkar and has wished him all the best. It may be recalled that Sachin Pilgaonkar had worked with Mr. Bachchan as his co-star in the film ‘Satte Pe Satta‘ and also ‘Sholay‘.

Popular Singer and Music director Avadhoot Gupte started his musical career in 2002 composed eight songs from the album ‘Paus‘. This album got popularity and got the ‘Alpha Gaurav Award‘. His second Indi-pop album, ‘Aika Dajiba‘ was very much popular. His next album came in 2003 ‘Meri Madhubala‘ which was a hit. Avadhoot Gupte moved to anchor a talk show titled ‘Khupte Tithe Gupte‘ on Zee Marathi.
Avadhoot Gupte has been a celebrity judge in many musical Television shows mainly ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champions‘, ‘Sur Nava Dyas Nava‘, ‘Sur Nava Dyas Nava-2‘. Avadhoot Gupte made his presence felt when he entered into film making through his debut film ‘Zenda’. Then after he directed his second film ‘Morya’ starring Santosh Juvekar, Chinmay Mandlekar. Renowned veteran actor Dr.Mohan Agashe to step into ‘Tee Phulrani’ TV serial
With his appealing personality Dr.Mohan Agashe has always invited all the attention through various characters portrayed by him in the past, be it in films or on television. Now, this renowned veteran actor will step into ongoing popular TV serial ‘Tee Phulrani‘ on Sony Marathi as Jagdish Mahapatre. This character is very important in this TV serial, as Jagdish Mahapatre is very much against the Deshmukh family and their style of living .
Since his childhood, Jagdish Mahapatre has been hearing from his mother, how Deshmukh family harassed his family. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how Jagdish Mahapatre will deal with Deshmukh family and at the same time it remains to be seen how Shounak and Manju will discover his real identity. But, one thing is sure that with his entry, Dr.Agashe is sure to bring in more interest in ‘Tee Phulrani‘ serial.

‘Anandi Gopal’ – a truly inspiring realistic biopic with a social message

Anandibai Gopalrao Joshi was one of the earliest Indian woman physicians in the 19th century, when India was under British rule. She was the first woman who graduated with a two-year degree in western medicine in the United States. Now, a biopic on her has been presented through latest released Marathi film ‘Anandi Gopal’. Anandibai as she was addressed by the American Medical College during the convocation, lived a very short life of 22 years. But, she inspired many young Indian women to pursue higher studies, at a time when the male dominant society did not permit their daughters to pursue higher studies . Anandi made it possible, only because of the encouragement from her husband Gopalrao, who was a reformer and served in the postal department.
The film ‘Anandi Gopal’ directed by Sameer Vidwans presents Bhagyashree Milind & Lalit Prabhakar in title roles. Though the film is based on a real story, the manner in which the screenplay and dialogues have been written, it does create a strong impact on the audience. The hurdles faced by Gopalrao from his hometown, while educating his younger wife, clearly shows how women were treated during 19th century. The film covers the period around 1880, when Yamuna who turns Anandi after her marriage to a widower Gopalrao, who believes in offering education to women.
In spite of facing the opposition from the neighbourhood and his own community, Gopalrao first sends his wife to a Christian missionary school. But, when she faces trouble there too, he decides to send her abroad for higher education. After cleverly showing the strengths of these two lead characters in the first half of the film, very systematically director Sameer Vidwans has presented the sequence of events in the second half to show Anandi’s impressive success story. There are many emotion filled scenes which touch the heart of the audience. Moreover, few important scenes are also likely to appeal the universal audience and therefore the film certainly stands a chance to find its entry from India for the prestigious Oscars.
The technical departments makes it presentable giving a realistic look to this period film, with superb cinematography by Akash Agarwal & Apoorva Shaligram. Certainly a worth watch film for all sensible film lovers.
‘इयर डाऊन’ मालिकेचे दुसरे पर्व सोनी मराठीवर
सोनी मराठी वाहिनीने नवीन एक वेगळी मालिका म्हणजे लवकरच प्रेक्षकांच्या भेटीस येणार ‘इयर डाऊन’ आहे. समीर पाटील दिग्दर्शित या मालिकेत संतोष जुवेकर आणि प्रणाली घोगरे यांनी प्रमुख भूमिका साकारल्या होत्या. या मालिकेच्या निमित्ताने ही जोडी पहिल्यांदाच एकत्र दिसली होती. संतोष जुवेकरने यामध्ये जन्मेजयची भूमिका साकारली होती जो एका संपन्न कुटुंबातला होता.
‘इयर डाऊन’चे पहिले पर्व संपले असून या मालिकेचे दुसरे पर्व आहे. संतोष जुवेकरने आतापर्यंत अनेक भूमिका साकारल्या आहेत. तसेच त्याने केलेल्या रफ अँड टफ भूमिका प्रेक्षकांना जास्त आवडल्या आहेत. ‘इयर डाऊन’ या मालिकेच्या निमित्ताने प्रेक्षकांना संतोष नेहमी पेक्षा वेगळ्या भूमिकेत पाहायला मिळाला.

Teaser poster of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Local Via Dadar’ was launched recently on social media, when Bollywood actor Varun Dhavan shared the same through his twitter account. He also wished the director and the entire team of the film, on this occasion. Nitin Rokade, the writer- director of this film has so far done editing work of many Hindi and Marathi films. His last Marathi film was ‘Talim’ which was based on the game of wrestling.
Through ‘Local Via Dadar’ Nitin will be presenting an innocent love story before the audience. Dialogues of this film are written by Sayali Kedar while cinematography will be by Faroukh Khan. On the lyrics of Atik Allahabadi ,Vikram Montroz will be composing music of the songs in this film. Art direction will be by Nitish Roy while Sadashiv Chavan will handle the production work.
