Sai Tamhankar will be added attraction in ‘Samantar 2′
Only last week we had heard about the streaming of Marathi Web Series ‘Samantar’ from 1st July starring Swapnil Joshi , Veteran Nitish Bharadwaj and Tejaswini Pandit in lead roles. At the end of Season 1 we had seen this series concluding at a very interesting stage . So, there is a lot of curiosity among the viewers to know how Kumar Mahajan after acquiring the diary from Chakrapani will be facing all the challenges in his life.
Now that Sai Tamhankar making the announcement on her birthday about her entry into this series with the release of promo, there is more curiosity about her character and her links with Chakrapani as well as Kumar Mahajan. This also raises a question, whether she will be seen in double role? But for all that, you have to wait till 1st July, when this series will be aired on MX Player . Besides Marathi it will also be available in other languages like Marathi , Hindi and Tamil.
Unique tribute by Team ‘June’ on the occasion of Father’s day
On the occasion of Father’’s day, the entire team of forthcoming Marathi film ‘June’ has paid unique tribute in the form of a song on ‘‘Father’ which is a reprise version of a song titled ‘Baba’ from this film. This song has been penned by Nikhil Mahajan on the music of Shalmalee Kholgade and rendered by Anandi Joshi. For the reprised version, this song has received support from Anandi Joshi , Neha Pendse Bias, Shalmalee, Resham Srivardhan, and group of common friends comprising of Amruta Khanvilkar, Priya Bapat, Girija Oak Godbole, Mrunmayee Godbole, Parna Pethe, Gaura Nalawade & Sanskruti Balgude .
Speaking on this occasion Music director of this film Shalmalee said, “We don’t give as much of importance to our Fathers, which they actually deserve. This particular song ‘Baba’ in the film is a solo female track very well rendered by Anandi. Whenever I listen to this song , I get emotional. I am sure, even the audience will experience the same.” While the leading lady of this film Neha Pendse Bias feels , “ All the relevant things like Sincerity, hard work, honesty, ethics in my progress, I have acquired from my father and I am grateful to him.

Swwapnil Joshi and Nitish Bharadwaj to return with ‘Samantar 2′
Popular Marathi actor Swwapnil Joshi who had appeared with veteran Marathi actor Nitish Bharadwaj in the web series ‘Samantar’ released last year, is all set to reappear with him in season -2 of ‘Samantar’. Based on the book written by Suhas Shirwalkar, teaser of this series was released recently on MX Player with the news that official trailer of ‘Samantar-2’’will be released on 21st June.
It may be recalled that this series presents the story of a youngster Kumar Mahajan played by Swapnil Joshi, who comes to know that his future is what is the past life of a middle aged person Sudarshan Chakrapani played by Nitish Bharadwaj. So, after going in search of this person, Kumar finally locates him and acquires the diary from Sudarshn , to know his future. The Season 2 of this series will therefore be interesting to find how Kumar faces the different situations in his life with the help of this diary? Directed by Sameer Vidwans this series will be aired soon on MX Player .
Seema Deshmukh to narrate Sanjay Sonawani’s ‘Savyasachi’ on audiobook
Renowned Marathi actress Seema Deshmukh will narrate Writer Sanjay Sonawani’s famous Social novel ‘Savyasachi’ on audiobook. This audiobook has been presented on Storytel Marathi. The novel describes what our nation has experienced during the last decade of the 20th century, before moving into 21st century.
Known for describing every situation in a dramatic manner, the writer has written several books on different subject. Through this novel ‘Savyasachi’ the writer has very well described the changes which took place in the political situation, financial system, rising crimes and religious indifferences and other issues. At the same time he has highlighted some of the good and bad characters with their involvement at different situations.
During this ongoing partial restrictions due to lockdown, people at home have already become used to such audiobooks and therefore ‘Satyasachi’ has also been released timely for such audience.
Music of Web Film ‘June’ released
Planet Marathi’s first Web Film ‘June’ will be the debut of Shalmalee Kholgade as a music director and therefore all eyes were on the release of film’s music. Now, the four songs of this film have been released on social media, giving a glimpse of her music. Shalmalee is all excited about her new journey. “I always like to experiment new things and therefore I am confident that my well wishers would appreciate my work as a music director , the way they appreciated me as a singer.” She said.
Shalmalee is thankful to her entire team while composing the four songs in different moods. The lyrics of Nikhil Mahajan and Jitendra Joshi have added the required flavour to these songs. Planet Marathi’s Akshay Bardapurkar is all praise for the songs in this film . He is more happy that this film has found a right platform at the national and international film festivals, because of the positive outlook presented through this film’s story. Saptasur Music present new music video of Maruti Chavan and Saurabh Salunke
Having become popular with his famous song ‘Sonu Tujha Majhyavar Bharosa Naay ka’’ Maruti Chavan will combine with Saurabh Salunke, known for his title song in TV serial ‘Balumamachya Navana Changbhala’ for their new music video ‘Jejuricha Khanderia Navsala Pavlaa’. This brand new music video is produced by Sainath Rajadhyaksha and Gauri Maruti Chavan and can be viewed on Saptasur Music’s Youtube channel.
This video is dedicated to Jejuri and Lord Khanderaya and therefore there is full praise for the Lord besides covering the picturesque Jejuri fort. Priyanka More will be seen along with Maruti Chavan in this music video. The idea and choreography of this music video is by Maruti Chavan himself, while he has also penned the lyrics of the song along with Sunil Sakat. Saurabh Salunke has rendered his voice for the song on the music of Monu Ajmeri. Prakash Dindale has directed this music video , while Prashant Mandhare has done the cinematography.
Mukta Barve, Umesh Kamat to return on small screen from 12th July
Popular Marathi artistes Mukta Barve and Umesh Kamat will be seen together in a new Marathi serial ‘Ajunahi Barsaat Ahe’ on Sony Marathi soon. This serial will begin from 12th July, as announced by Sony Marathi on their social networking page. The trailer of this serial has also been released, where we find both of them outside the office of a marriage bureau. Knowing each other well, they try to hide the purpose of their visit.
There are mixed reactions coming through comments posted by their well wishers. While many people have welcomed their pair coming together through this serial, others have shown their opposition to the word ‘Barsaat’ used in the title of this serial. Some people have liked the subject, but feel that it should not move on the track of typical Saas –Bahu clash with the progress of this serial. One thing is certain that return of Mukta Barve and Umesh Kamat on small screen, is certainly a very good news for home viewers.
Historical Marathi film ‘Bhadrakali’ announced
When her son was killed in battle, Umabai Dabhade carved her name as the first woman commander-in-chief of the Maratha army. Very little has been written about her in history books. But now, the bravery act of this great woman will come alive on big screen .Puneet Balan Studios have announced their big historical Marathi film ‘Bhadrakali’ on the occasion of Shiv Rajyabhishek Day on 6th June recently.
The launching of this film has brought together many renowned personalities together. Puneet Balan as producer combine with Digpal Lanjekar as writer, National award winning director Prasad Oak as director and Ajay-Atul as music directors of this new film. The story of this film will revolve around this brave Woman Commander in chief of Maratha army during the period Shahu Maharaj in 18th century. There is a lot of curiosity about the star cast of this film. But, the same will be disclosed by director Prasad Oak in his own style very soon. According to the makers, this film will be released in the year 2022.
Fine gesture by Soortaal karaoke Singing Club
Soortaal Karaoke Singing Club , which regularly organises Karaoke singing competitions for amateur singers, had recently organised an Online Karaoke Singing competition; which received a very good response. The programme was dedicated to many health workers and doctors who offered their services during this corona pandemic. Now, this singing club from Vile Parle under the leadership of Ms. Amruta Deodhar showed a fine gesture by offering help to the most neglected section of the society.
With the help of all the participating singers, Ms. Deodhar visited two places in Mumbai namely Falkland Road ( Patthhe Baburao Marg) and Kandewadi in Girgaon, to distribute parcels of life essential things to 100 sex workers who were worst affected during this corona pandemic. Next week the Singers club has planned to offer help to another 40 needy women. This work is certainly to be appreciated. Thanks to Ms. Deodhar and her team.
‘Photo Prem’ presents Neena Kulkarni in a lifetime role

Every talented artiste is in search of a role to give his or her best. Age does no matter. What matters the most, is the character you are offered and its importance in the script. Versatile Marathi and Hindi film actress Neena Kulkarni has found one such opportunity to prove her mettle through recently released Marathi film ‘Photo Prem’ on Amazon Prime.
Produced by a team of Mehul Shah, Aditya Rathi and Gayatri Patil and directed by the debutante director duo Aditya Rathi and Gayatri Patil, this 93 minutes length film features the main character of Mai a middle aged married woman who is camera shy and avoids facing camera directly even during her daughter’s marriage. After her daughter’s marriage, Mai becomes lonely at home, as her husband keeps spending his time after office with his friends and their parties. Except for watching television serials during the day and chatting with her domestic help Mai has no other work to keep herself occupied.
One day she attends a funeral of a woman (wife of her husband’s friend). She notices a problem faced in their family, where search is on for the deceased woman’s photograph, to be submitted to a newspaper Obituary column. In the absence of her photo, the news with the photo cannot appear in newspaper. This particular happening makes Mai feel uncomfortable and she keeps on thinking as to what would happen in her case and how people will remember her, in absence of her proper Solo Photo. How she deals with this situation is what the film’s screenplay is all about.
There is no doubt that some of the incidences are humour filled but due to limited content, the directors were not able to expand the screenplay with more interesting happenings, except for the climax, which is good. Nevertheless, actress Neena Kulkarni has found a lifetime lead role in this film and she has given full justice to her emotion filled character. Her husband and daughter are just namesake in this film. Instead, scope is given to the domestic help played by Chaitrali Rode, with some support coming from Amita Khopkar as Akka her relative, Pro Photographer Sameer Dharmadhikari and few others. Kaushal Inamdar‘s music and Kedar Phadke’s cinematography are the other plus points of this film.
