Trailer of ‘Babu’ launched
Trailer of forthcoming action filled Marathi film ‘Babu’ was launched recently. On this occasion, the artistes of this film dressed up in the costumes of their respective characters, performed Koli style dance on the tunes of Aagari Benjo. Lead star Ankit Mohan who is playing the title role, made a stylish entry on motorbike and joined his co-artistes in the dance. A huge 20 feet poster was also released on this occasion.
Trailer of this film has raised the curiosity of action film lovers, as it also presents the dialogues in typical Aagari-Koli accent. According to writer- director Mayur Shinde, this film is on the backdrop of 90s period and is a complete package of entertainment highlighting love, friendship, enmity, revenge and action. This film is presented by Samarth Krupa Production and is produced by Sunita Babu Bhoir. Besides Ankit Mohan, the film stars Neha Mahajan, Ruchira Jadhav, Smita Tambe, Sanjay Khapare, Shrikant Yadav in lead roles. And it will be released on 2nd August 2024.
Actress Smita Tambe takes you down memory lane with her first photo shoot
For all film artistes, their first photo shoot is always a memorable moment. If this photo shoot is done during their childhood, it remains a lifelong memory. Now, during this lockdown period, many artistes are spending time going through their own photos to recall their past memories. One such memory was recalled by talented award winning actress Smita Tambe.
Smita Tambe found her old childhood photo during a photo shoot in a studio, which she has shared on her social networking page. Speaking about this memorable moment, Smita says, “During my childhood, my parents had specially stitched new dress for me and they wanted to have my photo shoot in that dress and that too in a Photo studio on the backdrop of a curtain with painting of Kashmir. Whenever I see this photo, I remember the love and affection showered upon me by my parents. And therefore, during this lockdown period, I only think about my loving parents.”
Smita Tambe’s fourth film ‘Gadhul’ to be screened at 50th IFFI
This will be the 50th Golden Jubilee year of Indian International Film Festival and therefore it has a special significance. The audience will have the finest opportunity to watch some best films at this festival. And actress Smita Tambe has a good news for her. Her film ‘Gadhul’ has been selected in Non Feature film section of Indian Panorama at this forthcoming film festival.
Smita has a connect with IFFI during the past few years, as her previous films like ‘Dhoosar‘, ‘Rukh‘, ‘Pangira’, were also screened at this festival. This will be her fourth film to be screened at this prestigious Indian International Film festival and it is a great honour for the talented actress. Speaking about her experience with IFFI, Smita says, “When I participated in this film festival for the first time, I didn’t know the vast importance of this event. But, soon I realised it was a big hub for film lovers. You get an opportunity to meet some renowned film makers from different parts of the world. Therefore, for me it is a big honour that my film has been selected.”
Actress Smita tambe does beach cleaning at Madh
Every citizen has some social commitment to the society. Now, how he or she does it, depends upon every individual. We have even seen our Prime Minister picking up plastic lying at the beach of Mahabalipuram recently. This is certainly inspiring. Now, if our Marathi artistes do anything like this, it will send across a good message to the society.
Recently, Smita Tambe was seen cleaning the Madh beach, which is known for film shooting. Smita lives at Madh and every morning she goes for a walk there. When she observed the plastic waste lying at the beach, she decided to clean it on her own. Smita says, “Even if the municipal workers are cleaning this beach, the plastic waste which keeps on coming at the beach through the sea is very much on the rise. We often clean our house, but it is necessary to clean the surrounding of our house also. Clening the beach after ganapati immersion is not enough, we need to volunteer ourselves to keep the beach clean on a daily basis.”
We are sure, watching the initiative by Smita, more and more people will come forward to join her for this just cause.
Smita Tambe welcomes Goddess Gauri during Ganapati festival
The Ganapati festival is being celebrated all over Maharashtra with a lot of enthusiasm and spirit. At community festival, we are watching various programmes being held to unite people in the neighbourhood , while some people welcome Ganapati and Goddess Gauri in their houses to offer pooja. During this period, our Marathi stars take off from shootings to devote their time for this purpose and to be with their family members.
Actress Smita Tambe is no exception. Every year in her house she welcomes Goddess Gauri along with Ganapati and offer Pooja along with her family members. Now that she got married early this year, she decided to welcome Gauri- Ganapati in her husband’s house in Mumbai for the first time. Since her childhood she has been taking a lot of interest to arrange the decoration and also dress up Gauri Goddess . This year, she did it all alone and also purchased the dress material for the Gauri goddess at the shops located around Mahalaxmi temple Kolhapur.
Speaking about this wonderful experience, Smita Tambe says, “Every year I used to do all this while assisting my mother. But this year, I had the satisfaction of doing this all on my own.”

The second version of much talked about web series ‘Sacred Games’ has been launched on Netflix recently. And in this second version we find Marathi actress Smita Tambe making her presence felt in the role of a Forensic expert Rama who is assisting Inspector Sartaj Singh in the investigation of nuclear bomb chain.
There is no doubt about the praise Smita has been receiving from the viewers , but what is more important is the compliment she has received from her co star in this series Saif Ali Khan. Speaking about this compliment, Smita says, “I have been a great fan of Saif Ali Khan for past several years. I am working with him for the first time. He is such a nice person who is always friendly with his co stars when not shooting. But, turns serious when in front of camera. During the shooting, he was so impressed with my work that he complimented me saying that I was a very intense actress. And this compliment is very special for me.”
In this series Smita plays the character of Rama who is originally from Vidharbh , Maharashtra and living in Sewree, Mumbai . She joins the Police after the 26/11 attack on Mumbai, so that she could do something for the country. She is expert in decoding the secret messages received from terrorists who are preparing their attack on Mumbai.
Incidentally, Smita Tambe has worked for the first time with director Neeraj Ghaywan. Praising his style of work, Smita says, “He is a different type of director, who does not load the artist much before the scene. In fact, he just explains the scene in brief and allows the artistes to perform in their own way and this helps the artiste to prove his or her mettle.”
Actress Smita Tambe turns glamorous for photo shoot
Popular Marathi film actress Smita Tambe , known for her award winning performances and roles in off beat Marathi films, for the first time took part in a glamorous photo shoot and this turned out to be a big news. Speaking on this occasion, Smita said, “For the past 10-15 years I haven’t taken part in such kind of photo shoot. Whatever photo shoots I have done so far, were related to my roles for posters of my films released so far. Therefore, my glamorous photos had never appeared before by fans.”
Incidentally, this year 2019 there are many new happenings in her personal and professional life. When asked about this, she said, “Yes, at the beginning of this year, I got married and thereafter I saw many new happenings in my life. I made a comeback on Marathi stage through professional play ‘Idiots.’ Then, turned a producer through a film ‘Sawat’ followed by my entry into digital world. Now, my three web series are due for release one after the other. There are new projects in Marathi and Bollywood, announcement of which will be made soon.”
