Riteish Deshmukh to make his debut on Marathi Television
After making his grand debut in Marathi films through ‘Lai Bhari‘ popular Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh is all set to make his debut on Marathi television in a big way. Riteish will play host of a new Quiz show ‘Vikta Ka Uttar‘ on Star Pravah . To participate in ‘Vikta Ka Uttar‘, first question will be on-air from 2nd July onwards.
Incidentally, his own production ‘Mauli‘, which is a sequel to ‘Lai Bhari‘ is progressing soon. In the coming month two of his films are also due for release. One of them is ‘Great Grand Masti‘ and the other being ‘Banjo‘ directed by Ravi Jadhav. In all, the second half of 2016, will prove to be lucky for Riteish Deshmukh. Even otherwise, with Riteish hosting the show, there will be high expectations from this show. By the way, Riteish himself is very much excited about his television show. With this show, Star Pravah will be competing with other Marathi channels, to raise their viewership, during prime time.
Marathi TV serials celebrate Gudhi Padwa
Every big Maharashtrian Festival is observed in ongoing Marathi serials. On the occasion of Gudhi Padwa, we saw the hoisting of Gudhi , through many serials. In ‘Asa Sasar Surekh Bai‘ on Colors channel, we saw Santosh Juvekar playing the character of Yash Mahajan returning home from hospital, on this festive occasion. We also saw Vaibhav Mangle hoisting the Gudhi at his residence and offering prayers, in presence of his wife and parents , in the serial ‘Majhe Pati Soubhagyavati‘ on Zee Marathi channel.
But, in Star Pravah‘s serial ‘Devyani‘ , on the auspicious occasion of Gudhi Padwa, Ekka and Phulrani played by will be seen as a newly married couple, showing them celebrating the festival together. In short, the couple will be seen together in a happy mood, with Phulrani, winning her love. But now, it remains to be seen, how Phulrani will protect her husband from Surekha.
Now, Marathi TV channels promote Hindi films
Marathi TV channels promoting our own Marathi films, is not new to Marathi audience. But, now we find some Marathi TV channels promoting Hindi films. Few months ago, we saw Alia Bhatt promoting her film ‘Shaandar’ through Star Pravah’s TV serial ‘Runji’. Very recently, we even saw Sonam Kapoor promoting her film in Marathi comedy programme ‘Chala Hava Yeu Dya’ on Zee Marathi. And, last week, we saw John Abraham and his team, promoting their Hindi film ‘Rocky Handsome’ in the same programme.
When there are no Marathi films released, we often find the promotion of Marathi dramas (Two in one or three one) taking place. But, with such promotion of Hindi films, we only fear that it should not block the progress of our Marathi films. There was already one film ‘Well Done Bhalya’ of a small producer and such Hindi film promotion would certainly affect its business. There is nothing wrong in promoting Hindi films on Marathi channels, provided the Hindi edition of the same channel also promote our Marathi films.
Telecast of award functions filled with entertainment programmes, have always invited the attention of home viewers. But, what if two award functions are held at the same time and on the same day. Last Sunday, we saw the telecast of Zee Chitra Gaurav awards function on Zee Marathi and at the same time, there was telecast of Mirchi Marathi Music awards on Colors channel. And, the home viewers were really confused, as to which programme to watch. The programme on Colors offered better variety, with more focus on dance performances, while in Zee ChitraGaurav, there were dances plus more time wastage on Skits performed by their regular TV artistes.
This week end ‘Ka Re Durava’ will say goodbye to home viewers. And, finally, we saw Aditi confronting with her father, when the serial is about to conclude. Now, it remains to be seen, how the new serial replacing this serial, with a hindi title ‘Kahe Diya Pardes’ would be welcomed by our Marathi home viewers? Let us wait and see.

It’s high time that we have common TV serial awards in Marathi
Till now, we find that only a particular channel hosts TV serial awards, restricted to serials aired on its channel. But, why can’t we have such awards open to Marathi serials, aired on other channels too ? If this happens, it will be a good competition to watch. When we can have awards instituted by different Groups and sponsors for Marathi films and Marathi stage, why there is injustice to Marathi serials, which has been offering talented artistes ? Few years ago, an event management company, which hosts TV serial awards in Hindi, had come forward with the proposal of hosting awards for Marathi serials too; but, that proposal remained on papers only, for want of sponsors.
Now days, we observe that popular TV artistes are in big demand for Marathi film and stage award functions held abroad, for performing dances or for anchoring shows. So, why can’t these Organisers also include awards for Marathi TV serial artistes and their makers? If these awards are added to the existing awards, they will help increase the popularity of these awards.
If such awards are introduced, it will create good completion among different channels and their producers, to offer their best creation. It will also be interesting to see Mrunal Dusanis competing with Dipti Ketkar , Suruchi Adarkar and Santosh Juvekar competing with Suyash Tilak and so on. Today, we find many TV serial makers, taking the viewers for granted. In many serials, we find the popular characters repeating the same dialogues again and again, with the same expressions on their face. To make a serial interesting, it is very necessary to have good communication among the characters, with quality and effective dialogues. There was a time, when we noticed good dialogues in past serials like ‘Damini’, ‘Vadalvaat’’, ‘Avantika’, ‘Agnihotra’, ‘Ya Sukhanno Ya’ & ‘Asambhav’. Why can’t we have such quality dialogues in the present day serials ?
To offer a good Marathi serial, there has to be a complete script ready, with dialogues. A popular TV serial director once said that he preferred to make a serial, which would be over within six months. But, today, we find many serials dragging on for more than a year. Sometimes, two years or even three years, with some of the artistes and even the director being replaced. And, that’s not fair.

Varad Chavan is new addition to ‘Runji’
After completing 300 episodes, TV serial ‘Runji‘ on Star Pravah channel, seems to be going for a change. Now, the makers of this serial have found Varad Chavan to play an important role. And, this tall talented youngster, known for some of his negative roles in the past, has made his presence felt, on his entry into this otherwise lifeless serial. No wonder, they have also shot a Dandiya dance sequence on Bollywood actress Aliya Bhatt , on the occasion of Navaratri festival. Aliya has performed along with two actresses in the serial. And, this episode will be telecast soon. Needless to mention that it must be promotion for Aliya’s next film.
Even otherwise, Colors channel is trying to make it big, through their forthcoming Bharat Jadhav reality show, which is being advertised heavily. This show will go on air soon, during prime time. Bharat being a big name in Marathi entertainment industry, the show is likely to pose competition to programmes on other channels. By the way, on Colors Marathi channel, we saw a film of Makarand Anaspure ‘Asa Mee Tasa Mee’, which had a 70s traditional Hindi film style story. The other artistes of this film were Rahul Mehendale, Shweta Mehendale & Shruti Marathe in a negative role. Surprisingly, Shruti’s voice didn’t seem to be her own voice. Was it dubbed by anyone else?
Last week, Maiboli channel presented some good Marathi films . They were, Ajinkya Deo’s ‘Jetaa‘, Subodh Bhave’s ‘Ranbhool‘ . There was also a good Marathi drama ‘Hasat Khelat’ starring Ashok Saraf, Nivedita, Puushkar Shrotri, & Smita Tambe, shown on 14th October.
During the week, the awards for the Zee Marathi serials have been announced in a function. And, we understand that ‘Ka Re Durava’ has bagged nine awards in different categories, including ‘Best Serial’ award. And, Ketkar kaka and kaki bagging best Father and Mother’s awards. The best actor and actress awards have been won by Khandoba , Mhalsa and Banu respectively. ‘Dil Dosti Duniyadari’ was declared as best family and so on. The telecast of this awards function will be on 1st November 2015.

Star Pravah’s ‘Lakshya’ completes 700 episodes
Popular Police investigative Marathi serial ‘Lakshya’ on Star Pravah has successfully completed 700 episodes. Instead of inviting special guests for celebrating the occasion, the hosts Aadesh Bandekar and Suchitra Bandekar, the producers of this serial had it a home affair. They wanted to share the happy moment with the entire cast and crew of the serial and their family members, which was a fine gesture.
Speaking on the occasion the hosts made an announcement that soon they will bring all the artistes together and will present more interesting stories, to keep the home audience engaged. Present on the occasion were, main artistes of this serial, Ashok Samarth, Shweta Shinde, Aditi Sarangdhar, Jagannath Nivangune, kamlesh Sawant, Ramesh Wani, Pari Telang & Dhanshree Kshirsagar.
