Samruddhi Porey offer new Marathi film
Marathi films are going worldwide because of the new universal subjects handled by some of the talented film makers in Marathi. Many corporate companies are also coming forward to present Marathi films, because of their unique stories. Now, the time has come to see the entire Marathi film being shot on foreign land. Saibaba Studios and Samruddhi Cineworld have combined together to present a new Marathi film ‘Sukh Mhanje Nakki Kaay Asta‘ which will be the first Marathi film to be entirely shot in Los Angeles.
Saibaba Studios have already offered quality artistic programmes on television and with this film, they will be stepping into Marathi film production, while Samruddhi Cineworld of film maker Samruddhi Porey has already offered award-winning Marathi films like ‘Mala Aai Vhaychay‘ and ‘Dr.Prakash Baba Amte‘ in the past. ‘Sukh Mhanje Nakki Kaay Asta‘ will be directed by Samruddhi Porey starring Ankush Chaudhari. Speaking about his debut in Marathi, Mr. Shivkumar of Saibaba Studios said that he has high respect for Marathi culture and therefore through a sensible subject of this film he decided to present this film.
A lot is expected from Marathi Women film directors
After watching the success of Sai Paranjape in Hindi films and Marathi theatre right from 70s, many women in Maharashtra were inspired to move into direction. And the two prominent names were Aruna Raje and Sushma Shiromani. Aruna successfully shouldered the responsibility of directing the Hindi films like ‘Rihaee’ starring big stars like Hema Malini, Vinod Khanna, Naseeruddin Shah & Reema Lagoo and ‘Bhairavi‘, Sushma offered commercial Marathi films like ‘Fatakdi‘, ‘Bhingari‘ & ‘Kadaklakshmi‘. Recently, Aruna Raje made her comeback through a Marathi film ‘Firebrand‘ starring Sachin Khedekar, Usha Jadhav & Girish Kulkarni, which was released on Netflix last month.
Then we saw the rise of women film makers like Shrabani Deodhar through award-winning films like ‘Lapandaav‘ & ‘Sarkarnama‘ and Kanchan Adhikari through a sensible film like ‘Manini‘ which was the first Marathi film shot in Dubai. Kanchan had already become popular on television, when she directed a mega serial ‘Damini‘. Actress turned director late Smita Talwalkar also offered some good sensible films, besides directing her debut film ‘Savat Majhi Laadki‘.
During the past few years, some more women directors have entered Marathi film industry and prominent among them are, Samruddhi Porey, Swapna Waghmare Joshi, Mrinal Kulkarni, Kranti Redkar, Manva Naik & Pratima Joshi, who have offered good subjects with nice presentations and much more is expected from them. We had also heard about Mrunmayee Deshpande making an announcement about her entry into direction. On the occasion of Women’s day, we wish all these new women film makers all the best.
महिला दिनानिमित्त झी टॉकीजची स्त्री शक्तीला विशेष मानवंदना
८ मार्च हा दिवस महिला दिन म्हणून साजरा केला जातो, महिला दिनानिमित्त महिला प्रेक्षकांना झी टॉकीज वाहिनी विशेष भेट देणार आहे . महिलांच्या आयुष्यावरील पाच विशेष चित्रपटांचा नजराणा झी टॉकीज प्रेक्षकांसाठी घेऊन येत आहे. शुक्रवार, ८ मार्च रोजी, झी टॉकीजवर, दिवसभर हे चित्रपट पाहायला मिळतील. महिला सक्षमीकरण, त्यांची समाजातील स्थिती, समाजाचा त्यांच्याकडे पाहण्याचा दृष्टिकोन अशा विषयांवर आधारित चित्रपटांचा यात समावेश असेल. ‘मला आई व्हायचंय‘, ‘फॉरेनची पाटलीण‘, ‘माहेरची साडी‘, ‘तानी‘ या चित्रपटांसह ‘मोकळा श्वास‘ हा सिनेमा पाहण्याचीदेखील संधी प्रेक्षकांना मिळणार आहे.
‘मोकळा श्वास‘ या चित्रपटात आजच्या पुढारलेल्या काळातही, ‘मुलगी नकोच , फक्त मुलगा हवा ‘ ही एका कुटुंबाची मानसिकता दाखवली आहे . सहकुटुंब आनंद घेता येईल असे चित्रपट, हीच झी टॉकीजची खासियत ठरते. त्या बरोबर ‘जिद्दीने उच्चशिक्षण घेणाऱ्या मुलीची कथा असलेला ‘तानी’, जुन्या काळात नेऊन ठेवणारा ‘माहेरची साडी’, प्रेमाखातर खेड्यातील भारतीय संस्कृतीशी एकरूप होणारी परदेशी स्त्री दर्शवणारा ‘फॉरेनची पाटलीण‘, परदेशी दाम्पत्यासाठी सरोगेट आई झालेल्या महिलेचं भावविश्व दाखवणारा ‘मला आई व्हायचंय’ या चित्रपटांचाही ‘महिला दिन विशेष’ यादीत समावेश आहे.
‘Aamhi Befikar’ slated for release on 29th March
Films based on college life and especially on teenagers have always received a good response from the young audience. Perhaps, keeping this in mind, the makers of ‘Aamhi Befikar‘ are offering a youthful subject which revolves around the carefree life of college going youngsters. The theme of the film is based on the experience of failures while trying to achieve something big. And thereafter learning through the mistakes to fulfill your dream. Produced under the banner of Harihar Films, this film is directed by Kavishwar Marathe.
The film ‘Aamhi Befikar‘ stars young pair of Suyog Gorhe and Mitali Mayekar in lead roles along with Rahul Patil, Swapnil Kale and Akshay Dahake. Chittaranjan Dhal has handled the camera, while editing is by Shradheya Kedar & Pankaj Salmuthe. Music is composed by Pranay Adhangale with playback singers like Rohit Raut, Harshavardhan Wavre, Kirti Killedar and Saurabh Joshi having rendered their voices for the songs in this film. The film is slated for release all over Maharashtra on 29th March 2019.
‘Ek Hota Pani’ wins three awards
Marathi Journalist turned actor- script writer Ashish Ningurkar made his debut into Marathi films through ‘Rairand‘ two years ago. The film was based on the social issue of child labour and did receive good response from critics at some film festivals. Now, through his next film ‘Ek Hota Pani‘ Ashish Ningurkar has offered another social issue of water.
Produced under the banner of New talent Search and directed by Rohan Satghare, this film is also receiving a good response at film festivals. At the recently held first Ahmednagar International Film festival ‘Ek Hota Pani‘ has won three awards. Renowned veteran actor Anant Jog has received the award for best negative role, while the makers have won the Best film on social issue award. The third award for this film was received for best Poster.
One More Hindi film ‘Mere Pyare Prime Minister’ has Marathi flavour
Two months ago we saw lots of Marathi artistes in the big budget Hindi film ‘Simba‘. Even there were some Marathi dialogues uttered by the hero of the film Ranveer Singh. And now, another Hindi film ‘Mere Pyare Prime Minister‘ is also having Marathi flavour with popular Marathi artistes like Anjali Patil, Makarand Deshpande, Atul Kulkarni & Nachiket Purnapatre being part of the lead star cast.
Another news coming from the sets of the film is that during the shooting Marathi food was being served for the entire crew of the film. And everyday variety of Maharashtrian food was added to the menu. Presented by Jayantilal Gada and PVR Cinemas, this film is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The film is ready for release on 15th March 2019. So, there is also a possibility that the promotion of this film may take place on any Marathi TV channel.
Music of ‘Chhatrapati Shasan’ launched
Music of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Chhatrapati Shasan’ was launched recently. Produced by Prabodhan Films and Sawai Martand, and directed by Khushal Mhetre, film ‘Chhatrapati Shasan‘ is a production of Utkarsh Kudale, Priyanka Kagle and Khushal Mhetre. This film will rightfully guide today’s generation towards the Shivshahi (Shivaji’s rule). Speaking about this film, Director Khushal Mhetre has described the journey of the film’s production and direction in an interesting way. Mhetre says, “The film ‘Chhatrapati Shasan’ is an art dedicated by the Shiv Bhakts to the Hind Bhakts.” This film narrates the principles of the great warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Instead of worshiping symbols, images, and idols or enthusiastically raising slogans of ‘Jai Shivaji’, this film gives an actual message of how and what Shivaji Maharaj established through his wisdom by his bravery and thoughts. 10 percent from the total income of the film will be donated to the Indian Army in the wake of Pulwama terror attack.
All four songs in the film are of different kinds and the music of each song in the film is directed by a different music director. Nandesh Umap. Actor Makarand Deshpande while speaking about the film said “My role as Professor Samar in the film presents the ideology of Shivaji Maharaj. Today’s youth needs more convincing than imposing, which the film ‘Chhatrapati Shasan‘ exactly does.” The cast of the film also includes actors Santosh Juvekar, Kishore Kadam, Abhijit Chavhan, Prashant Mohite, Anil Nagarkar, Sayali Kale, Prathamesh Joshi, Shreyaschandra Gaikwad, Vishnu Kedar, Parag Shah, Abhay Mishra, Dhanashree Yadav, Kiran Kore, Rahul Belapurkar, Sayali Paradkar, Ramchandra Dhumal, Milind Jadhav and Jaydeep Shinde.

New Marathi plays offer variety to drama lovers
After we saw Marathi plays like ‘Dada Ek Good news Aahe‘, ‘Vacuum Cleaner‘, ‘A Perfect Murder‘ & ‘Tila kahi Sangaychay‘ receiving a good response, some more Marathi plays with variety of subjects are also inviting attention from the drama audience. Prominent among them are, ‘Soyare Sakal‘,’Gumnaam Hai Koi‘, ‘Epic Gadbad‘, ‘Idiots‘ & ‘Galtise Mistake‘.
While ‘Soyare Sakal‘ presented directed by Aditya Ingale offer an interesting subject stars Aishwarya and Avinash Narkar along with Aditya Ingale, Ashutosh Gokhale, Ashwini Kasar, Anuya Baiche & Sunil Tambat, ‘Gumnaam Hai Koi’ directed by Mangesh Kadam is a gripping play starring versatile artistes like Angad Mhaskar, Shaila Kanekar, Prajakta Datar, Rohit Phalke & Madhura Velankar.
‘Galtise Mistake‘ the so called energetic play directed by Sanjay Khapre has also been receiving good response . Written by Vaibhav Arjun Parab this play stars Sanjay Khapre himself along with Chetna Bhatt and Ashish Pawar in lead roles. Written and directed by Makarand Deshpande, ‘Epic Gadbad‘ is a comedy play as clearly suggested through its title has also been appreciated by critics and it stars Ankit Mhatre, Ninad Limaye, Aakansha Gade,Madhuri Gavali, Bharat More & Ajay Kamble. This play is presented by Abhijit Satam.
There is one more play with interesting title ‘Idiots‘ is all set to perform its inaugural show on Sunday 3rd march 2019 and stars two popular artistes Sagar Karande & Smita Tambe in lead roles. This play is written and directed by Shrirang Godbole.
