Sai tamhankar & Amruta Khanvilkar attend Bollywood’s Iftar Party
The high profile Iftar party thrown by a Politician Baba Siddiqui every year is a subject of discussion in Bollywood and Page 3. Getting an invitation for this party is considered as a status symbol, as only selected celebrities are invited for this big event. This year, two popular Marathi actresses Sai Tamhankar & Amruta Khanvilkar had received invitation for this event and both of them did oblige with their physical presence.
According to the Bollywood sources, till now no Marathi actress had attended this event and therefore both Sai and Amruta stand tall with this invite. Moreover, their presence on the red carpet also clearly indicated how popular they are in Bollywood too. Incidentally, both Sai and Amruta have performed in Bollywood films and therefore they have multiple well wishers . Both actresses seemed to have a good time at this event.
Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar all set to present his Marathi film ‘Chumbak’
Known for his non conventional and content driven cinema as an Actor & Producer, Bollywood legend Akshay Kumar is now all set to present his Marathi film ‘Chumbak‘, which is all set to release all over Maharashtra on 27th July 2018. Having been conferred with the prestigious National award and ‘Padma Shri‘, the popular bollywood personality was moved by the subject , which resulted into a film called ‘Chumbak‘ which will now be offered by him to Marathi film lovers.
Breaking this news on his social media, Akshay Kumar shared a video saying, “Came across something very honest and pure…it has been stuck in my head like Chumbak, thought of sharing it with you all. हे पहा, मला तुमचा फक्त एक मिनिट हवा आहे“. ( I just need a minute of yours ).
The film stars National Award winning lyricist &writer, singer , actor Swanand Kirkire in the lead role in ‘Chumbak‘ , which also stars new finds Sahil Jadhav and Sangram Desai in key roles. ‘Chumbak‘, is directed by National Award winner Sandeep Modi, who has co-written this film with Saurabh Bhave and is produced by Naren Kumar.
Sagar Deshmukh to play title role in P.L Deshpande’s biopic ‘Bhai- Vyakti Ki Valli’
Known for his literary contributions deeply rooted in Marathi language, late P.L Deshpande will always be remembered also for his humour filled speeches. From 8th November 2018 his birth centenary year will be observed all over the world. To celebrate this occasion three film production companies namely, Mahesh Manjrekar Movies, Phalke’s factory – a film management Company and The Great Maratha Entertainment Company will be offering a biopic ‘Bhai- Vyakti Ki Valli‘ on this legendary actor- writer , which will be directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. Sagar Deshmukh, whom we saw in the lead role in the Marathi film ‘YZ‘ 2 years ago, will be playing the title role in this film and Iravati Harshe will play his wife’s role.
An official announcement about ‘Bhai- Vyakti Ki Valli’ film was made in Mumbai yesterday evening, when MNS Chief Mr. Raj Thackeray gave the muhurat clap. Speaking on this occasion the well known cartoonist turned politician said, ” I expect this to be a grand film, almost of the level of Richard Attenborough’s ‘Gandhi’ .I have seen this film ‘Gandhi’ 150 times, while I was a student of Sir. JJ School of Art.So much I liked this film. And, I am confident that the director in Mahesh Manjrekar will give the best treatment to this film.” Incidentally, Mr. Raj Thackeray will also be holding his exhibition of cartoons on the life of Late P.L Deshpande next year, to pay him tributes on his birth centenary.
According to Mahesh Manjrekar, the film will be released on 4th January 2019 to coincide with P.L Deshpande’s birth centenary year events. Besides P.L.Deshpande and Sunita Deshpande, this film will also present other important characters like Jawaharlal Nehru, Balasaheb Thackeray, Baba Amte, Bhimsen Joshi, Durga Bhagwat,Vasantrao Deshpande & Kumar Gandharva and these characters will be played by versatile artistes.
‘Zing Premachi’ – Emotion filled love stories
Emotion filled love stories have always been a success formula of Marathi films, provided they offer good music. Makers of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Zing Premachi’ are promising one such film. Produced by Vijaykumar Sapkal under the banner Vijay Usha and this love story is being directed by Shahid Khan for Viewfinder Production. Shahid Khan is an eminent writer in Bollywood and he is debuting as a director through this Marathi film. He has written the story, screenplay and dialogues of this film.
Since ‘Zing Premachi’ film is a musical love story, the music is composed by Mahesh-Rakesh and lyrics are by Vijay Gamre and Shahid Khan. There are five songs with different genres out of which a Sufi song is expected to receive good response during the upcoming Ramzan Eid. Another highlight of this film is that the Songs are picturised at the wonder of the world Taj Mahal and the famous Red Fort. Sandesh Gaur and Sheetal Tiwari are debuting in Marathi through this film. Ranjeet Jog, Smita Pawar, Mohaq Kansara, Mrulalini Jamble, Amol Chaudhary, Anil More, Ratan Somvare, Jairam Shahu, Vipul Deshpande, Popatrao Chavan, Dipjyoti Naik, Smruti Patkar and Ganesh Yadav will be seen in other important roles.
Adinath Kothare worked very hard before launching his Marathi Film ‘Paani’
For the past four years he was working on the script of his new Marathi film, visiting many drought affected areas of Maharashtra to study the situation. And last month he began shooting of his Marathi Film ‘Paani’ . Thanks to Priyanka Chopra for coming forward to produce this film, which will be her fourth Marathi film as a producer through her Purple Pebble Pictures. Earlier this production had produced two Marathi films ‘Ventilator’ & ‘Kaay Re Rascala’ with third Marathi film ‘Firebrand’ ready for release. ‘Paani’ will be their fourth production to be directed by Adinath Kothare.
Indeed, Adinath had worked very hard on this project along with his friend Nitin Dixit. Now, shooting of this film on a topical subject is in progress. Adinath himself is playing lead role in this film, along with Subodh Bhave, Rucha Vaidya, Kishore Kadam, Girish Joshi and Rajit Kapoor. With a lot of awareness already created by actor Aamir Khan and his team, visiting various drought affected places in Maharashtra to encourage the villagers adopt water conservation methods, the subject of this film is very timely, as it is also based on the success story of a social activist behind development of the village Nagderwadi. This will also be the debut of Adinath Kothare as director.
Popular child artistes roped in for Marathi film ‘Salman Society’
Many child artistes have played very important role in the success of some of the Marathi films. Popular child artistes comprising of Pushkar Lonarkar, Gaurav More, Shubham More and Vinayak Potdar will be seen in Kaliash Pawar’s forthcoming Marathi film ‘Salman Society’. Produced by Chandrakant Pawar and Rekha Surendra Jagtap under the banner, Prajakta Enterprises, ‘Salman Society’ carries the timely tagline ‘Padhega India to Badhega India’ and focuses on the most important issue of child education.
While Pushkar has been featured in prominent Marathi films including ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’, ‘Baaji’, ‘Firkee’ and ‘Chi Va Chi Sau Ka’ , Gaurav has some popular Marathi shows and commercials to his credit. Shubham has made his presence felt as an actor not just in Marathi cinema but also Bollywood in films including the Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Raees‘. Similarly, Vinayak has been part of films including ‘Tajmahal’, and ‘Yere Yere Paisa’.
The makers of this film have planned an extensive shooting schedule in Mumbai. The will be released in December this year.
Trailer & Music of Film ‘Ziprya’ launched
Based on renowned journalist and writer Arun Sadhu’s novel, Marathi film ‘Ziprya‘ is now all set for release on 22nd June 2018. Recently, the trailer and music of this Marathi film was launched in Mumbai in presence of artistes and special invitees. There is a lot of curiosity about the film’s subject, since it is based on Late Arun Sadhu’s novel.
The story of ‘Ziprya‘ as many of us know, revolves around young labourers doing boot polish for their survival in big metros like Mumbai. Ziprya the central character of this film is also one of them, who is always hopeful about his better future. When it is time for Ziprya’s sister’s marriage, the film’s story takes a twist which has been the turning point of this film. The film’s screenplay and direction is by Kedar Vaidya and the film is produced by Ranjit Darekar.
The film stars Chinmay kambli along with Prathamesh Parab, Amruta Subhash, Saksham Kulkarni, Aman Attar, Nachiket Purnapatre, Praveen Tarde and others.
Amruta Khanvilkar is happy about her progress.
We all are aware that as an actress Amruta Khanvilkar has earned name and fame in Marathi films. Her last two Marathi films were ‘Katyar kaljat Gusali‘ and ‘One way Ticket‘ in which she performed two contrast roles. On television she won the hearts of every dance lover, through her performance in ‘Jhalak Dikhala ja‘ . In Hindi films she too, she found some good roles, but her role of Munira in recently released hit Hindi film ‘Raazi‘ also invited the attention from Bollywood.
Today, Amruta has reached such a stage in her acting career that she is ready to accept challenge of performing any type of role. No wonder, she has been selected to play the most important character in the forthcoming web series and this will be her debut in web series, which are inviting the attention of youngsters now days. Amruta herself is very thrilled to accept this suspense filled role, as she feels that this kind of role she has not performed before. The character is bold and has negative shade. New Marathi play ‘Naughty 4t’ is about turning naughty at 40s
Marathi plays have been offering variety of subjects. Some of them are based on real stories, while others are based on fiction. But, there are also subjects based on social issues and also pure comedy subjects to entertain the audience. Recently, New Marathi play ‘Naughty 4t’ which is based on the topic of turning naughty at 40s was launched with inaugural show and within a months time, we find the team of this play getting ready to perform at different parts of Maharashtra, as this play has received very good response from the audience during the past few weeks.
The story of this play revolves around a couple Aashu and Neeta who are celebrating 23 years of their love marriage, while their two children are studying in Panchgani. Aashu is an engineer in BMC while Neeta is working for a corporate. How their life takes a sudden turn, is shown in this play in a humorous way, which also makes the audience think. The play is written by Mukund Mahale & Avinash Warang and is directed by Sunil Parab. The artistes performing in this play are, Vandana Rane –Jogi, Avinash Warang, Sneha Joshi, Chandrashekhar Panchal, Nitin Suresh, Sudhir Sridhar & Sanjeev Dhuri.
