Kshitij Patwardhan’s Play ‘Bhumika’ receives admiration
Writer Kshitij Patwardhan‘s latest Marathi play ‘Bhumika’ has been receiving admiration from educational and cultural fields. This contemporary play which has presented 125 shows so far, has received invitation from prestigious Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre( NMACC) to perform the show of this play on 22nd May 2026 @ 7.30 pm at their Grand theatre.
Another good news for this play is that this play has been included in the curriculum of Mumbai University’s TY BA . ‘Bhumika’, which is a mixture of commercial success and artistic excellence has turned out to be a modern classic. Recently, this play won the Popular Master Deenanath Mangeshkar award, besides winning 15 prestigious awards. Many prominent personalities have praised this play.
Moreover, publication of a book on this play was released recently, by renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar. Directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni this play has popular actor Sachin Khedekar playing the lead role and making his comeback to Marathi theatre after a long gap of 21 years.
6th Superhit Marathi film festival in Pune

The 6th Superhit Marathi film festival is all set to begin from 22nd May 2026 and will conclude on 24th May 2026. Many prominent personalities from Marathi film industry are expected to be present during this film festival. For the past five years, this film festival has provided a platform to new experiments tried by film makers in Marathi film industry.
This year’s film festival will also feature some old classic films like Jait Re Jait, Tighee, Gondhal and Dashavtaar. There will also be panel discussions,interaction with directors and artistes. Renowned artistes and film makers like Mahesh Manjrekar, Girish Kulkarni, Amruta Subhash , Shivraj Waichal, Siddharth Jadhav will be attending this festival.
Highlight of the festival will be the presence of renowned veteran actress Suhas Joshi, who will be conferred with this year’s Lifetime achievement award, for her contribution to Marathi film industry for the past five decades.

Ankush Choudhari joins the gang of ‘Mamachya Govyala Jauya’

At a time, when his film ‘Gondhal’ is going worldwide, Santosh Davkhar has announced his next Marathi film ‘Shahajiraje’ on a historical subjectPresented by Davkhar films and written and directed by Vasant Davkhar , the poster of this film ‘Shahajiraje’ as released recently. The poster of this film clearly indicates the success story of Shajiraje, which is being presented for the first time in Marathi cinema.

Known for his knowledge on historical subjects , Mr. Davakhar will now handle the story of Shahajiraje, father of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who was known for his bravery and vision. ‘Shajiraje’ will be released during the year 2027 and will be presented in five other languages besides Marathi, namely Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

After ‘Apsara’ Sonalee Kulkarni now attains popularity with ‘Manjula’
Popular actress Sonalee Kulkarni had invited all the attention n the year 2010 through her performance in popular song ‘Apsara Aali…’ from the film ‘Natarang’. Now, in the recently released film ‘Salbardi’ she has performed on another item song ‘Manjula’ choreographed by Phulwa Khamkar, which is attaining popularity. This song has been written by Guru Thakur and the music is by Padmanabh Gaikwad.
Speaking about this song ‘Manjula’, Sonalee, says that this song has been special for her, as there is a different kind of energy in it. “Even Phulwa has offered something new and entertaining in the choreography, which I am sure will be well accepted by the audience.” she added.

Film ‘Salbardi’ is produced by Anil Devde Patil, Dr. Gajanan Jadhav and Ram Jadhav and is directed by Ramesh Sahebrao Choudhari, who had earlier given films like ‘Gulhar‘, ‘Babo’ and ‘Panipuri’ on variety of subjects. Lalit Prabhakar to play Namdeo Dhasal in his biopic
Namdeo Dhasal was a well Known Marathi Poet ,writer and activist and founder member of Dalit Panthers. Now, a biopic is being made on his life by writer- director Varuna Rana in Marathi and Hindi languages , which is produced by Sanjay Pandey and Varun Rana. The highlight of this film is that today’s popular actor Lalit Prabhakar.
Makers of this film have made this announcement by releasing the poster of this film, on the occasion of 135th Birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. They also announced the release date of this film as 1st October 2026. Dialogues of this film are written by Pratap Gangavane and music is by legendary South Music director Illya Raja.
Speaking about this film director Varuna Rana said that Namdeo Dhasal was not just a personality but was a real hero of Dalits during 70s and 80s period, who fought for their rights. In a profound loss to Indian cinema and music, legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday(12th April 2026) afternoon at the age of 92. She breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital, where she had been undergoing treatment following a sudden deterioration in her health on April 11, 2026.
According to medical officials, the veteran singer had been admitted to the intensive care unit after suffering from a cardiac episode, chest infection, and extreme fatigue. Doctors later confirmed that she succumbed to multiple organ failure despite continued treatment.

A towering figure in Indian film music for over eight decades, Asha Bhosle was celebrated for her versatility, distinctive voice, and an unparalleled body of work spanning thousands of songs across languages and genres. Her demise marks the end of an era that defined generations of music lovers.
