Pravin Tarde’s successful journey in Marathi films
Right from his college days, he has been a multi talented personality. Born and brought up in a farmer’s family in Pune district, Pravin Tarde completed his studies with MBA and later passed his degree examination in law. Later, he even did a job for a while. But, he wasn’t satisfied with it. His fate finally landed him in theatre, television and film world.
Pravin Tarde began his writing with the popular serial ‘Kunku‘ followed by ‘Pinjara‘, ‘Anupama‘, ‘Tujha Majha Jamena‘, ‘Ase He Kanyadaan‘ and so on. As an actor, he also performed memorable roles in films like ‘Chinu‘, ‘Harishchandrachi Factory‘, ‘Tukaram‘, ‘Rege‘ & ‘Kokanastha‘ . He also wrote the stories of films like ‘Kutumb‘, ‘Ajinkya‘, ‘Rege‘, ‘Mr & Mrs. Sadachari‘; but he came into prominence as a writer and director for the film ‘Deool Band‘. Now, his other two films ‘Deool Band-2‘ and ‘Mulshi.com‘ are due for release soon.
Having won several popular awards, Pravin is now focused on developing six packs and his working hard on his diet plan and exercising. But, he has not disclosed the name of the film, for which he has been working hard. One thing is sure that he is going to give a big surprise.
Trailer of Marathi film ‘Ganvesh’ unveiled
‘Ganvesh‘ which means Uniform in English, has played a very important thing in the lives of school children. Some are fortunate to have multiple sets; but for those underprivileged children, having one set is also a big thing. Forthcoming Marathi film ‘Ganvesh’ is all about the struggle of poor parents working in a brick manufacturing unit, to provide school uniform to their only child, who has been asked to wear the same compulsorily for the annual school function.
Recently, the trailer of this film was unveiled at Famous studios , Mumbai, in presence of special invitees and media persons. And, the trailer does give an idea of the emotion filled story of this film. This is a debut film of cameraman turned director Atul Jagdale, which is made under the banner of Vijayate Entertainment and presented by Eros International . The film stars Dilip Prabhavalkar, Mukta Barve, Kishore Kadam, Smita Tambe, Guru Thakur, Nagesh Bhosale, Suhas Palshikar, Ganesh Yadav, Sharad Ponkshe, Jayant Savarkar and others. Music by Nihar Shembekar and editing by rajesh rao are other credits. The film is due for release soon.

Is the name of film based on love story, very important for film’s success ?
After watching the success of films based on unusual love stories, like, ‘Urfi’ and ‘Sairat’, there is a lot of curiosity about films with such unusual names. So, obviously, we are not surprised to find the curiosity among the Marathi film lovers about forthcoming Marathi film ‘Pindadaan’. Made under the banner of Sarathi Entertainment and presented by Poonam Shende, the film is all set to release on 17th June 2016.
Directed by Prashant Patil , with cinematography by Bunty Deshpande , the film’s music is by Sagar Dhote , while costumes are designed by Deepali Deshpande. The film stars Siddharth Chandekar , Manva Naik and Canadian actress Paula Mcglynn in lead roles. Interestingly, the first look of this film is impressive. Now, it remains to be seen, whether the unusual story of this film, would impress the Marathi audience.
New Marathi film ‘Barad’ to release on 10th June
Today, Marathi films are evolving more around the personified topics . Betraying friends- families for money is a common sight these days. Politics is draining away the trust from its voters. ‘Barad‘ is one such film, which is set on the backdrop of all such social elements of a small village Alkud, where money hopes are destructing the prosperity and humanity.
Barad means barren land. Many villages have such infertile lands. The film ‘Barad‘ floats around a rumor which destroys the villagers as well as the village. Presented by Atharva Movie’s Devendra Kapadia & produced by Kumar Gandhi the film is directed by Tanaji Mahadeo Ghadge. Cinematography by Kamal Chaupal and Surendra Singh & music by Sandeep Wadekar are other credits. The theme song of this film is presented by Rohan & Rohan. The film stars Suhas Palshikar, Shahaji Kale, Rajan Patil, Bharat Ganeshpure, Nandkishor Chaugule, Sanjay Kulkarni, Rohit Chavan, Dhananjay Jamdar, Ajay Apkire, Geeta Shinde, Namrata Kudalkar and others.
‘Copy’ launched with song recording
Performing the muhurat of a film with song recording is a traditional way of launching a film. And, in Marathi films, songs play a very important role, in popularizing a film. Recently, producers Ganesh Patil and Shankar Mhatre also launched their new Marathi film ‘Copy’ with a song recording at Audio Garage Studio, Juhu. On this occasion, a song rendered by Praveen Done was recorded on the music of Rohan Pradhan & Rohan Gokhale. Present on the occasion were Mr. Vijay Patkar, Anshuman Vichare, Jagannath Nivangune, Vipul Salunkhe and technical team members.
‘Copy‘ will speak on the education system in our society. Set on the backdrop of rural Maharashtra, it will expose the commercialization of education . Directed by Hemant Dhabade and Dayasagar Wankhede, the film stars Milind Shinde, Kamlesh Sawant, Anshuman Vichare, Jagannath Nivangune, Vipul Salunkhe, Anil Nagarkar, Kailas Waghmare, Poonam Waghmare and others. Cinematography is by Santineo Trezio and choreography by Rockey Harle are the other credits.
Prarthana Behere to debut in Bollywood
Every regional film actress has a dream to play lead or prominent role in Bollywood films. Following the footsteps of actresses like Varsha Usgaonkar, Radhika Apte, Sai Lokur and others, now one more actress from Marathi film industry will be making her debut in Bollywood. She is Prarthana Behere. After her performance in films like ‘Mitwa‘, ‘Coffee Aani Barach Kahi‘ , Prarthana has been in the news, as she also won many best actress popular awards for these two films.
Actually, Prarthana received name and fame with the Hindi TV serial ‘Pavitra Rishta‘. But, later she established herself as a complete actress through Marathi films. Now, Prarthana will be seen along with Sharman Joshi, in forthcoming Hindi film ‘Vajah Tum Ho‘ directed by Vishal Pandya. The shooting of this film produced by T Series will begin from June 2016. ‘Koti’ creates a buzz at Film Festivals
Known for their extraordinary content, Marathi films have already won the hearts of film lovers all over the world. Now, one such film which has garnered appreciation in many national and international film festivals is OMS Arts’ Marathi film ‘Koti’, which is set to release soon.
Barring a few exceptions, such a story on transgenders has not come in Marathi films and ‘Koti’ has made a mark with this unusual subject. Child actor Adnyesh Mudshingkar , Divesh Medge, actor Sanjay Kulkarni, and actress Vinita Kale have played important roles in this film . Om arts Productions Dr. Santosh Pote and Dr. Sunita Pote have produced this film directed by Suhas Bhosle, who recently garnered appreciation for his film on sand trafficking mafia called ‘Reti’.
‘Koti’ has already won many awards including Indian Film Festival of India (IFFI) in the Indian Panorama category, and received a huge response after the Indian Government sent its entry. The film has also won Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Jury award, Sanskruti Kaladarpan Puraskar Award for Special Attention Film Award, along with four other awards in the same Puraskars, and five awards at Kolhapur Film Festival.
The script of the film is by Rajesh Durge, the DOP is Bharat R Parthsarathi , music by Manoj Negi & Baban Adgale, along with background music & lyrics by Sanjay Navgire. This different ‘genre’ of film s all set to release soon.
‘Sairat’ crosses 55 Cr. mark and still going strong
Marathi film ‘Sairat‘ has set a new record of Rs.55 Crore business in its 3rd week run all over Maharashtra.and, this is certainly a big achievement for Marathi cinema. To celebrate this occasion, Zee Studios and film maker Nagraj Manjule had invited the special guests, all the artistes of the film and media persons on Saturday evening.
After announcing the figure about the business done during the past 17 days, Zee Studios spokesperson Kapil Ingole called upon director of the film Nagraj Manjule to the dais, to speak a few words on this occasion and he did oblige, thanking the people from Maharashtra and other places, wherever the film was shown, for their overwhelming response. “I was confident that the film would be appreciated; but, never thought that it would make such a big business.” he said. Mr. Manjule also thanked Mr. Nikhil Sane and Mr. Nitin Kini from Zee Studios for their timely support and also music directors Ajay Atul for providing superb music. Finally, he called all his main artistes and asked them to say few words and all of them obliged through their short speeches for a minute.
This was a big event for the artistes, who are from a village in Solapur. But, they were all simple dressed, giving an impression that they still believed in simple living and the glamour world of Mumbai had no effect on them. Among those, who came to wish the makers of this film and artistes , were director Ravi Jadhav, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Amruta Khanvilkar, Mrunmayee Deshpande, Sanjay Jadhav, Ankush Choudhari, Atul Kulkarni, Priya Aditya Sarpotdar Nanubhai Jaisinghani, Sachin Kundalkar , N.Chandra, Priya Marathe and others. Many more were expected to come. But, had not turned up till 11 pm.
After the function, there was a talk about Zee Studio’s next film. When we asked one of the Zee representative, he said, there was still time to think about their next film. But, he did give a hint that they may present Ajay Atul’s own production ‘Jaoo Dya Na Balasaheb’.
‘Laal Ishq’ is also banking on its music
Music plays a very important role in Marathi films, besides its content. Most of the hit Marathi films had good music. Keeping this in mind, Film maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has also paid attention on this aspect, in his debut Marathi film ‘Laal Ishq Gupit Aahe Saakshila‘. Few days ago, this film’s first song ‘Chand Matala…‘ on the music of Amitraj was released , along with the first look of the film. And now, the second song ‘Chimni Chimni…‘ of this film in the voice of Adarsh Shinde has also been released. This song also contains the voice of Swapnil Joshi and other artistes in the film Piyush Ranade, Sneha Chavan, Jaywant Wadkar, Aarti Kelkar, Kasturi Wavare and Amitraj.
According to the director of this film Swapna Waghmare Joshi , this 2nd song was picturised in one take, as all the artistes, on whom this song was picturised , had rehearsed very hard with the choreographer, before picturisation of this song. By the way, ‘Laal Ishq‘ is all set to release on 27th May 2016.
