First look of ‘JungJauhar’ to be released on social media on 13th July
13th July 1660 will be remembered in Maratha history for the great battle of Pavankhind . The great Maratha warriors led by Bajiprabhu Deshpande and the Bandal army created a history with their bravery act. Now, this part of the history will be seen on big screen soon through forthcoming Marathi film ‘JungJauhar‘ . This will be another big offering from Writer – director Digpal Lanjekar after successfully offering grand history based films like ‘Farzand’ (read review) and ‘Fateshikast’ (read review).

360 years have passed since this great battle was fought. And therefore it was a big challenge before the makers of this film Ajay and Anirudh Aarekar of Almonds Creations, who recreated the scenes with suitable huge sets, difficult action scenes with the help of advanced technical support. Therefore, there is a lot of curiosity about this film. The film stars Mrinal Kulkarni and Chinmay Mandlekar in prominent lead roles along with the big team of 21 talented artistes. Coinciding with this day of historical battle, the first look of this film will be released on 13th July 2020 on social media.
Sr. Film and Drama Critic Dinanath Gharpure is no more
Popular Senior Marathi Drama and Film Critic Mr. Dinanath Gharpure is no more. He passed away on Wednesday night . He was 79. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, son in law and grandchildren. He was admitted to hospital on Wednesday due to breathing problem. But, he could not survive this attack. Mr. Gharpure had served Akashwani ( All India Radio) for several years and was associated with centres like Mumbai, Pune and Nashik and AIR’s Commercial Broadcasting Corporation.

After retiring from AIR, he was working as a Freelance Journalist and was a regular at all Press shows . A silent worker that he was, he spoke very less but always greeted all with his smiling face. Very recently he had started his own Youtube channel – Dinanath Gharpure Entertainment. Even during the lockdown period he was seen active uploading the short interviews of Marathi celebrities to show to the viewers, how they kept themselves busy , during this home quarantine period .
It may be recalled that renowned actor Mohan Joshi, when first came to Mumbai, lived with Mr. Gharpure at his Girgaon residence. Mr. Gharpure had served as Judge for many State Level Drama competitions. His knowledge was extensive in both Marathi Dramas and films. Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal and many Marathi artistes including Mohan Joshi have posted condolence messages to his family members on social media, after his sad demise.
Marathi film on Naval Hero Kanhoji Angre announced
Kanhoji Angre was the chief of the Maratha Navy in 18th century India. As per our history records, he was also known as Conajee Angria or Sarkhel Angré (Sarkhel is a title equal to Admiral of a fleet). Known for his bravery, Kanhoji fought against the British, Dutch and Portuguese naval interests on the coasts of India during the 18th century. Despite the attempts of the British and Portuguese to subdue Angre, he remained undefeated until his death. Kanhoji Angre had emerged as a master of the Arabian Sea from Surat to south Konkan.

The Western Naval command of the Indian Navy was named INS Angre on 15 September 1951 in honour of Kanhoji Angre and An all-weather port at Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, named as Angre port, was inaugurated on 24 April 2012 by 9th descendant of Kanhoji Angre.
Now, in his honour a Marathi film will be made to show his tale of valour to the film lovers. This film will be made by Rahul Janardan Jadhav with Rahul Bhosale as executive producer. Dr. Sudhir Nikam has written th script of this film which will be released in year 2022.

Sagarika Music launch first song ‘Suvasini’ from their Retro album

Sagarika Music and popular Marathi singer Vaishali Samant have developed a very strong bonding, ever since the launch of Vaishali’s super hit music album ‘Aika Dajiba’. Thereafter Vaishali rendered memorable songs like ‘Mast Chalalay Aamcha’, ‘Angani Majhya Manachya’ ,’Mera Dadla’, ‘Ghotala’ and so on for Sagarika Music.

Now, this year on the occasion of their 22nd Foundation day celebrations on 4th July Sagarika Music have released this song ‘Suvasini’ rendered by Vaishali Samant which is first part of their Retro V album. This song is set on the backdrop of 1950 period wedding song. Lyrics by Shripad Joshi and music by Nilesh Moharir are the other credits . The promos of this song are pictured on popular Television actress Sayali Salunkhe. Seven other songs of this album will be released by end of this year, according Sagarika Das of Sagarika Music.
Pravin Tarde announces launch of ‘Deool Band 2′

During the period of lock down for the past three months, we saw even the temples under lock and key, with the permission given only for Pandits to perform pooja. The people have been prevented from entering the temples even during the big festivals like Ashadhi Ekadashi, to avoid rush and keeping in mind social distancing norms. This Ashadhi Ekadashi saw Pandharpur in total silence. And then Guru Poornima also witnessed silence at temples.
However , writer director Pravin Tarde was busy writing his script for his next films during the past three months. On the occasion of auspicious Guru Poornima day, he made official announcement of completion of his complete script for ‘Deool Band 2′ and also declared that this film will be released on Guru Poornima day next year. For this second part, Pravin Tarde has added a tagline ‘Aata Pariksha Devachi’ which goes very well with the present crisis. According to Pravin Tarde this Part 2 of Deool Band will be focused on farmers.

It may be recalled that the Part 1 of ‘Deool Band’ achieved tremendous success at the Box office and therefore there are big expectations from Part 2 also. However , it remains to be seen who will play the role of Swami . The Swami played by Mohan Joshi is part 1 is still fresh in our memory. There is also curiosity about the entire cast of this film, which is expected to be disclosed soon.
Premiere of Marathi Short Films Niyam (Rules) and Kulupband (Locked) Scheduled in Canada

Marathi films have already made their mark at the national and international levels. A noteworthy addition to this canon was made recently by a promising Marathi writer-director Ashish Ningurkar with his short films ‘Niyam’ and ‘Kulupband’. These short films will now be screened in Torrento, Canada. Thanks to an initiative taken by ‘World Globe’, an Organisation founded by a renowned industrialist Fredrie Regon. The online premiere of the films will be followed by a Webinar to discuss various aspects of these artistic endeavours.
Both these short films have been conceived, scripted, shot and directed by Ashish Ningurkar himself. Mrs. Kiran Ningurkar produced them under ‘Kavya Dream Movies’. The starcast of the films includes Ashok Ningurkar, Jayshree Ningurkar, Swaroop Kasar and Anurag Ningurkar. Abhishek Lagas has edited the films.
The shooting of the films was done strictly indoors, during the Lockdown period. The films make an emotional appeal to the viewers to follow the rules to cope with the Corona pandemic. Through them the director wants to pass on a pertinent message that human life is precious and a little haste will snatch it from us. It’s better to stay away from others for the time being.
Ashish Ningurkar and his team has been widely congratulated for this outstanding achievement. This success story of a youngster from rural background is indeed inspiring to every Indian.
Sai Tamhankar resumes shooting after three months

Popular Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar who is known for her commitment to acting profession is now back to the studios for shooting of her reality show. After three months long break due to imposition of lockdown, shootings of all the ongoing television shows and films have now begun with the new unlock rules. And this has brought Sai back to her work, which she enjoys a lot, being a workaholic. Even otherwise, the trendy actress has proved her commitment to work, by being present for the shoots, in spite of suffering an injury.
Speaking about resuming her work after a long gap, Sai Tamhankar offered her mixed reactions, “I am excited but at the same time there is fear in my mind. But, there are all arrangements made over here. There is a Doctor, an ambulance for emergency. There is arrangement for checking the body temperature on our arrival and there are other precautions taken, such as washing our hands frequently and use of sanitizers. I know that people are tired of watching old episodes of programmes but now, with the beginning of shootings for fresh episodes, they will soon get to see the new episodes.”
Hansraj Jagtap to play lead role in ‘Fanjar’
Not all the child artistes are lucky to grab lead roles in films like Sachin Pilgaonkar, Mahesh Kothare and Swapnil Joshi did . In fact these three artistes played lead roles even during their teenage. There may be few others too, but these three artistes proved themselves successful in their acting career. Few others like Nivedita Joshi, Adinath Kothare, Pallavi Joshi and others also found lead roles, when they passed their teenage. Now, one more child artiste is all set to make his appearance in lead role in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Fanjar’.

Hansraj Jagtap who received all the attention with his performance as a child artiste in 2014 Marathi film ‘Dhag’ had bagged Special Mention Jury award at the 60th National Film Awards. He had also received Best Child actor Ma. Ta. Award. For the past six years he had shown good progress playing variety of roles in his teenage through films like ‘Rakkhndaar’, ‘Itemgiri’, ‘Ziprya’ and ‘Re Raya’. But now, this new film ‘Fanjar’ directed by Devadatta Motiram Dhandore will present him in lead role. Recently, the first poster of this film was released and Hansraj was more than happy to share this poster on his social media page, which carries his big image on it.

Amitabh Bachchan offers help to ABMCM workers

Though some relaxations have been made in the lock down, by allowing the film industry to begin work partially, the fear of corona virus has kept many daily wage workers still away from their work. Looking at this grave situation, many film personalities have come forward to offer help to these daily wage workers . The Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal( ABMCM) has received help from such well wishers for onward distribution to all those daily wage workers registered with the Mahamandal.

Only few days ago we saw Vikram Gokhale offering his land in donation to Chitrapat Mahamandal so that it could be of some help these workers in the form of shelter. Now his ‘AB aani CD’ Marathi film co star Mr. Amitabh Bachchan has come forward by offering coupons of Rs. 1500/- each to 500 daily wage workers registered with Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal , so that they can buy groceries from Big Bazar. This is a very fine gesture from the Superstar , who has always come forward with help for social cause.
