Savaniee Ravindrra’s unplugged series launched
After receiving overwhelming response for her first two series of ‘Savanee Unplugged’, popular Marathi singer Savaniee Ravindrra has now launched her third series of ‘Savanee Unplugged’ with the Gazal title ‘Itna Shor Sharaba Kyun Hai’. Speaking about this new launch Savanee says, “There were already inquiries coming about the third series from the music lovers, after appreciating the first two series. And therefoe, I thought of launching this third series coinciding with the World music day.”
This Gazal is written by Vaibhav Joshi and the music is composed by Dataprasad Ranade . In this video of Gazal Savanee Ravindra’s melodious voice has received the support of piano played by Ninad Solapurkar, while Mayur Dhande is seen completing his wonderful painting . Mayur was earlier seen doing his remarkable painting in Savanee’s previous song video ‘Mahiya’. All in all the superb combination of a singer , painter and a piano artist makes this Gazal more effective. Now every week you will find a new song in this third series.
Film Star Monalisa makes her entry on television
There are some artistes who begin their acting career with television serials and later turn towards films. But, for some it is the other way. Today, we find many newcomers who impress the audience with their extraordinary talent. One amongst them is the beautiful Monalisa Bagal. During the ongoing lock down a new serial with the name of ‘Total Hublak’ has just begun on small screen and Monalisa Bagal is playing the lead role in this serial.
Monalisa had made her debut in Marathi films with ‘Sau Shashi Deodhar’ in 2014 playing the younger role of Sai Tamhankar as a teenager. Later, Monalisa turned a glamorous actress , as she appeared in films like ‘Prem Sankat’, ‘Jhala Bhobhata’, ‘Dry Day’. Only last year, she was seen in the film ‘Perfume’. Now, Monalisa has shifted her focus on television for the time being, as she has found a good lead role in a timely comedy ‘Total Hublak’. Let us wait and see how she succeeds in this new entertainment field.
Deepti Devi counters depression with the help of her Yoga Teacher Reema Vengurlekar
The period of lockdown resulted in depression among many artistes and technicians connected with film and television industry. But, those who were regularly practising Yoga faced this period with positive attitude and confidence . Marathi actress Deepti Devi is one of them . Deepti has been training Yoga under the expert guidance of her Ashtang Yoga teacher Reema Vengurlekar.
We are all aware how Yoga helps people to stay not only physically fit but also mentally sharp. Yoga has also helped people drive away depression and build the immune system strong. When Deepti Devi joined Yoga three years ago, she was mentally in a disturbed state, which had also affected her health. But, thanks to her teacher Reema who helped her to counter not only depression but made her physically fit with flexible body. Speaking about the hard work put in by Deepti while learning all the practices of Yoga, Reema says, “I still remember the first day of Deepti in Yoga class. It wasn’t that easy for her , as she had health problems and her body was not flexible. But, she worked hard and within three months showed improvement. She is the best example to show a person can counter depression with regular Yoga. I am proud to be her teacher.”
‘Manache Shlok’ is the first Marathi film to be shot after relaxation in lockdown
The longest lock down in Maharashtra had brought to halt the film industry , television industry and the shootings of web series, along with other industries. But now, due to relaxations offered by the government to reopen some of the industries with conditions, the shootings of films have begun. Ganaraj Associates and Sanjay Dawra Films, which had almost completed the shooting of their forthcoming Marathi film ‘Manache Shlok’ had just two days shooting left. Now, after the relaxation, director Mrunmayee Deshpande and her team completed this remaining shooting of this film.
This film stars Mrunmayee Deshpande and Rahul Pethe in the lead. And the cinematography is by Abhijit Abdhe. According to producers of this film Shreyas Jadhav and Sanjay Dawra, they began the shooting of remaining parts, when some relaxations were announced . But this time they had come with new planning and care, as they had to keep in mind the social distancing norms and minimum workforce during the shooting besides sanitization etc. So, one technician had to do the work of 3 people. “But, it was challenging and we have now finished the task in two days.” said the producers.
Earlier their productions had offered films like ‘Online Binline’, ‘Baghtos Kaay Mujara Kar’ and ‘Mee Pan Sachin’.
Madhura Velankar to conclude her programme ‘Madhurav’ this weekend
Well known Marathi actress Madhura Abhijit Velankar-Satam, who launched her programme ‘Madhurav’ from 17th April 2020 on youtube channel was also presented on Madhura’s FB account every Friday and Sunday live at 6 pm. Till now she has presented 17 sessions . Each session comprised of reading out the literature of about 3 to 4 well known personalities, which included celebrities like Swanand Kirkire, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Mangala Godbole & Mugdha Godbole. Madhura tried this experiment during this lock down period, with the help of Rohit Phalke with technical support from Manish Nene.
The programme received overwhelming response from world over and watching this response Madhura plans to have Season 2 of this programme soon. In the meanwhile she has planned a grand finale this week end i.e on Friday 19th June, Saturday 20th June and Sunday 21st June at 6 pm. by inviting renowned people from our society like Niyati Tahker DCP, Zone 5 of Asia’s largest slum, Mumbai Police, Vijay Balamar, DMC Zone 6 BMC, Sahil Joshi, Executive Producer, India Today, Media House and Salil Bendre, Prof- Doctor, Head of Pulmonary medicine, Nanawati Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai.
‘Zollywood’ receives appreciation in France Film Fest with Jury award
Young film maker Trushant Ingle has made a Marathi film ‘Zollywood’ which is set on the backdrop of popular tent house dramas performed in Vidarbha region. Good news for him is that this film has received Special Jury award at the Indian festival of Toulas 2020 in France. This film has been produced by Wishberry Films and has been presented by Dukes Farming Films and Amit Masurkar. Incidentally, Amit Masurkar who had earlier directed films like ‘Newton’ and ‘Sulemani Keeda’ is the creative producer of this film.
It may also be recalled that director Trushant Ingale had made his acting debut as a child artiste through Zadepatti stage plays. Though Zadepatti stage plays which are very popular in Vidarbha, are not known to people living in other parts of Maharashtra and therefore making a film on this theatre art was a big challenge for the director, who came to Mumbai at the age of 16 to do something creative in this industry. This is his debut film and therefore this award comes as a big boost to his career. Trushant wishes to release his film after the film industry returns to normal
Motion poster of ‘Khurchi’ released
It seems that with the relaxations in lock down, our Marathi film industry is gearing up to be on the track back again. And the best example is of forthcoming Marathi film ‘Khurchi’ based on politics at village level. Till now, we have seen many films based on the competition to occupy the coveted chair of power in politics. These films also showed how the competition to grab this chair of power affects the family life of politicians. But, the film ‘Khurchi’ will go on to show, how this politics affects the children.
Presented by Aaradhya Motion Films , produced by Santosh Vasant Hagawane and directed by Swaroop Vaishali Balasaheb Sawant the motion poster of this film was released recently. And the hard hitting voice of a young boy gives enough hint about the effect of politics on their life. Though this motion poster of this film has been released, there is no idea about the star cast of this film. After ‘Balance’ and ‘Posco 307′ this is the third film from this director Santosh who has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues of this film.

‘कळत नकळत’ ह्या राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार विजेत्या चित्रपटाचे प्रसिद्ध दिग्दर्शक कांचन नायक ह्यांचे आज पुण्यात प्रदीर्घ आजाराने निधन झाले. कौटुंबिक, भावनात्मक कथा हळुवार पद्धतीने हाताळणारा दिग्दर्शक म्हणून त्यांची ओळख होती. कांचन नायक हे यांनी गेली साडेचार ते पाच दशके चित्रपटसृष्टीत कार्यरत होते. जब्बार पटेल, राजदत्त, प्रभाकर नायक, दिनकर डी पाटील अश्या मराठी चित्रपटसृष्टीतील मोठं-मोठी ख्यातनाम दिग्दर्शकांसोबतही त्यांनी काम केलं होतं. चित्रपटांसोबतच त्यांनी अनेक उत्तमोत्तम मालिका व माहितीपटांचंही दिग्दर्शन केलं आहे.
भावनाप्रधान चित्रपटांसाठी प्रसिद्ध असणारे कांचन नायक यांनी भोजपुरी भाषेतला ‘पिंजडेवाली मुनिया’ व ‘दणक्यावर दणका’ असे विनोदी विषयही चित्रपटाचे दिग्दर्शन करताना लीलया हाताळले. शं.ना. नवरे यांच्या कथेवर केलेली टेलिफिल्म ‘त्या तिथे पलीकडे’ हा नर्मविनोदाचा एक उत्तम नमुना आहे. कांचन नायक ह्यांनी दिग्दर्शित केलेल्या ‘राजू’ या संगीतमय चित्रपटाने रौप्यमहोत्सवाबरोबर राज्य शासनाच्या सर्वोत्कृष्ट चित्रपटाच्या तिसऱ्या पारितोषिकासह एकूण सात पारितोषिके पटकावली होती.
Amazon Prime Video offer a new life to Marathi films
Ever since Marathi film ‘AB Aani CD’ was released on Amazon Prime Video on 1st May 2020, this film attracted good viewership from home viewers during the lock down period and still continues to do so, with word of mouth publicity. Though this film was released on 15th March 2020, its theatrical run was impacted due to spread of corona virus pandemic which forced theatres to shut down. Therefore, it was a wise decision to premiere this film on Amazon Prime video .
Even otherwise, this film had an advantage of having two big names on the poster of this film- Vikram Gokhale and Amitabh Bachchan and therefore it helped to attract the viewership from Non Marathi audience too. No matter Mr. Bachchan had very limited role in this film, his presence was felt in the film, with the plot of this film having a direct connection with him. Above all, Vikram Gokhale being a versatile actor invited all the attention playing that most important character of Chandrakant Deshpande aka CD in this sensible humour filled film.
Now, talking about overall viewership of Marathi films on this network, there is a good demand for films starring Vikram Gokhale and Sachin Pilgaonkar, no matter how big or small is their role in such films. Just watching their photos on the poster or watching them in trailer or credits of the film, the viewership of such films is decided by home viewers. Surprisingly, the non Marathi viewers are increasing day by day, as noticed from the comments seen on social media. Moreover, Family dramas and films with good subject and decent language are preferred by the viewers.
The other best examples are films like ‘Sohalla’ starring Sachin Pilgaonkar and Vikram Gokhale, ‘Love You Zindagi’ starring Sachin Pilgaonkar in the lead and ‘Ek Nirnay’ starring Vikram Gokhale along with Subodh Bhave and others. In short, Prime Video has offered a new life to Marathi films, as the Marathi film makers need not depend on theatre release henceforth.
‘Aathavanitle Baba’ is the best tribute from son Varad to his father Late Vijay Chavan
During the complete lockdown period due to corona virus, the activity of Film, television and stage had come to a complete halt, forcing all those connected with this industry to stay at home. But, those with creative mind occupied themselves with something which would help them to communicate with others, through social media. One such good attempt was made by young Varad Vijay Chavan son of legendary Marathi actor Late Vijay Chavan.
Varad who is himself an actor, having performed variety of roles in television serials and films, thought of using this time to communicate with people through his video programme titled ‘Aathavanitle Baba’ which is spread over in parts. He has uploaded this video on youtube . In a short time he has received good response from people , who feel that it is the biggest tribute from a son to his father. Through this video Varad has described the early life of his father and his entry into this field. He has dedicated one full part talking about his father’s successful play ‘Moruchi Mavshi’ which created a record of presenting 500 shows in 500 days.
Varad also explains how his father was benefited with the experience he gained while working with some top artistes of his time, including legendary Dada Kondke and others. Certainly a worth watch, as Varad has made it interesting by narrating some humour filled happenings during the stage shows of his father and by adding old photos and documents from his collection.
