Mahesh Manjrekar & Amey Khopkar unite for ‘De Dhakka 2′
11 years ago ‘De Dhakka’ an entertaining Marathi film made a very good business of 10 Crore. Now, the sequel of this film ‘De Dhakka 2′ has united renowned director Mahesh Manjrekar and Producer turned distributor Amey Khopkar . They propose to release this film next year on 3rd January 2020. The poster of ‘De Dhakka 2′ was released on social media recently, and it indicates that the story of this film has some connection with London.
Produced by Yatin jadhav and Swati Khopkar, the film will be presented by Amey Vinod Khopkar Entertainment and Skylink Entertainment. The film will be directed by Mahesh Manjrekar & Sudhesh Manjrekar. From among the star cast of the original film, the main artistes Makarand anaspure, Shivaji satam, Medha Manjrekar & Siddharth jadhav will be seen in this sequel. However, the names of the others in the star cast have not been disclosed.
This sequel movie is scheduled for release in next year 2019, Looking forward to watch first part’s magic on box office.
After television Gayatri Datar to experience theatre
Gayatri Datar who made her dream come true by performing with actor Subodh Bhave in popular TV serial ‘Tula Pahate Re’, will now experience Marathi theatre, by performing in Children’s play ‘Nimma Shimma Rakshas’ to be directed by Chinmay Mandlekar. This hit play of yesteryear, written by Ratnakar Matkari has already received overwhelming response in the past, ever since the writer wrote this wonderful play in 1963.
It may be recalled that Gayatri who played the lead role of Isha in ‘Tula Pahate re’ was a child, when she received a prize at the hands of actor Subodh Bhave some years ago. And at that time, she had expressed her desire that one day she would act with him. Now that this serial has come to an end, Isha has a lot of time to devote herself for this Marathi play and she is expected to attract the little ones for her play. Isha who has also experienced big screen, having performed in Ajinkya Lokhande’s Marathi short film ‘Intolerence’ is also excited to perform on stage, which she feels is also an important medium of entertainment.
“Takatak has given me new identity” – says Prathamesh Parab
Some artistes become popular with the name of important character played by them in the film. After the release of the film ‘Balak Palak’, Prathamesh Parab was identified with his character name of Vishu in this film. Later, when he did the film ‘Timepass’ he received the identity of Dagadu , the lead character played by him in this film. But now, after the release of his latest film ‘Takatak’, he has received his new identity as ‘Thokya’, which is an important character in this film, though it is not the lead role.
This clearly indicates that Prathamesh has played this character in such a way that wherever he has gone after the release of this film, he has been called with the name ‘Thokya’. Speaking about this new identity, Prathamesh says, “Whether it is Vishu, Dagadu or Thokya, the credit for these roles go to writers and directors of these three films. All the youngsters feel that they should have a friend like ‘Thokya’ played by me in this film. And this is a good compliment for this character. Actually, Thokya is the real hero of this film, but he has not behaved like a hero through this character and that is the reason behind this character’s popularity.”
Vikram Phadnis returns with another emotion filled subject ‘Smile Please’

Having made his debut as a director in Marathi film industry through an emotion filled drama ‘Hridayantar’ two years ago, renowned Bollywood Costume designer Vikram Phadnis has now returned with another Marathi film ‘Smile Please’. While in his previous film Vikram presented the marital crisis of a couple married over 12 years, yet glued to their brittle married life, in the present film he presents the trauma faced by the wife after divorce, while facing her teenage daughter, who hates her and lives with her husband.
Nandini (Mukta Barve) a divorcee, who is an award winning fashion photographer, lives with her father (Satish Alekar) and housekeeper Jyoti (Trupti Khamkar). On few occasions, she keeps meeting her ex husband Shishir (Prasad Oak) and her around 12 year old daughter Nupur ( Vedashree Mahajan) . But, her daughter’s strange behaviour with her mother, disturbs Nandini, who undergoes disturbed state of mind. Life is not easy for her , as she has to keep away from her busy work schedule. At this crucial period of time, a little before the stroke of interval a youngster Viraj ( Lalit Prabhakar) who is known to her father’s friend walks in their house, as a guest for few days. Viraj wins the trust of all members of the family, except Shishir, who hates him.
So, in the post interval stage we notice how the efforts of Viraj help Nandini to face such a situation by regaining her self confidence . He also helps Nupur to understand her mother . In short, Viraj plays a good Samaritan. ‘Smile Please’ is a good effort from director Vikram Phadnis selecting a social problem which exists in families where both husband and wife have busy lifestyle. He has also shown the way but his screenplay really takes off only after the arrival of Viraj, however, the interaction between Trupti Khamkar in the role of Jyoti, the housekeeper and Satish Alekar (as Nandini’s father) , helps bring some humour into the screenplay.
Nevertheless, the performances by Mukta Barve, Prasad Oak, Satish Alekar, Lalit Prabhakar, Aditi Govitrikar and Vedashree helps give a realistic look to the film. Mukta Barve in particular has stole the show with her superb performance. Music has limited scope in this film, with two songs, but Rohan-Rohan have made their presence felt . Costumes designing done by Vikram Phadnis is no doubt worth appreciating, but above all, it is the photography by Milind Jog which impresses the most. Though this film deals with a serious subject, it is certainly a worth watch film for the sake of superb performances by the main artistes.
Poster of ‘Khichik’ launched on social media
Some films create curiosity among film lovers with their title itself. One such film is ‘Khichik’. Poster of this forthcoming Marathi film was launched recently, with a teaser, generating more curiosity, with a child carrying the poster of four wanted faces. Produced under the banner of Kantanand Productions by Anil Dhakate the film is written and directed by Preetam S.K. Patil. According to the makers this film will present an unusual story of relations , which can be enjoyed by entire family.
‘Khichik’ stars Siddharth Jadhav, Prathamesh Parab, Sudesh Berry, Anil Dhakate, Shilpa Thackeray, Actress Paula Mcglynn, Sheetal Dhakne, Rasika Chavan and yash Khond. Camera by Yogesh Koli, lyrics by Guru Thakur & Datta and music by Abhishek-Datta are the other credits of this film. The film will be released all over Maharashtra on 20th September 2019.
Veterans turn nostalgic during music launch of ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 2′
After receiving good response for their film ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa’ early last year, the makers of this film announced its sequel immediately thereafter. And now, within 18 months time the sequel of this film ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 2′ is due for release next month. The music release of this film was held on Tuesday evening in Mumbai in presence of star cast, music directors and many dignitaries. But, the special guests of honour were Ashok Saraf , Charusheela Sable and Sachin Pilgaonkar.
Pushkar Shrotri who is also performing in this film, played the role of anchor this evening and he made it very clear as to why these three veteran artistes were there. A popular song “Ashwini Ye na…” from the 1987 film ‘Gammat Jammat’ which was picturised on Ashok Saraf and Charusheela Sable under the direction and choreography of multi talented Sachin Pilgaonkar has been revamped and cleverly used in this film by music directors Troy- Arif, who were also present on this occasion. Therefore, earlier the song video of old film was shown, followed by the latest version from the new film picturised on actor Sanjay Narvekar and others. While the original song was rendered by legendary Late Kishore Kumar , the new version is rendered by Avadhoot Gupte. Senior Film Journalist Dilip Thakur, who shared a memorable photograph of Kishore Kumar during ‘Ashwini Ye na…’ song recording in 1987 , also shared his experience about this song recording.
Speaking on this occasion, the trio comprising of Sachin Pilgaonkar, Ashok Saraf and Charusheela sable turned nostalgic and recalled their personal experiences during the picturisation of this song. At the same time, they appreciated the new version and wished all the best to the entire unit of this film. Actresses Mrunal Kulkarni, Smita Gondkar, actors Sanjay Narvekar, Aniket Vishwasrao, Priyadarshan Jadhav, Prasad Oak also spoke on this occasion. Absence of Hemant Dhome was felt, as he was away in London shooting for another film. He however appeared through video recorded message along with Mrunmayee Godbole.
Two more songs of ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 2′ film, one of which was a Spanish carnival song, were also shown on this occasion, making it very clear that it was an entertaining comedy film. With this film Amey Khopkar with his AVK Entertainment will be entering the distribution field. The film is all set for release on 9th August all over Maharashtra.
Shivani Surve returns to Big Boss-2 with a bang
Popular television actress Shivani Surve, who had to leave Big Boss-2 on health grounds , has made her re-entry to this show with a bang. It may be recalled that Shivani had become a popular choice of viewers during the first month of the show. But, after her exit due to health problems her fans and admirers were very disappointed. But, now with her re-entry they are all happy and expect a good competition in the show, with already some split groups among the participants.
Shivani made her re entry in a dramatic way, when she brought pastries for all the participants and they too welcomed her with a broad smile. However, this time her re entry is not as a contestant but as a guest. Shivani’s re entry has also invited lots of welcome reactions in the form of messages, from her fans on the ‘Colors Marathi’ social networking page. Now, it remains to be seen how her physical presence will face the existing differences among the participants. But, one thing is sure that her return to this show has invited more interest.
Priya Bapat and Umesh Kamat together in ‘Aani Kaay Hava’
Whatever a couple does for the first time after marriage is always special. Be it food cooked together, a feast celebrated together, purchase of new car or the first fight. And this is what you will witness in new six part web series ‘Aani Kaay Hava’ starring Priya Bapat and Umesh Kamat. Incidentally, Umesh and Priya will be working together after a gap of seven years . This Marathi web series is diected by ‘Muramba’ fame director Varun Narvekar and is produced by Anish Jog and Ranjit Gugale.
Speaking about this series, Umesh says, “I was very keen to work with Priya, as we had not worked together for the past seven years. And when this proposal came to us, we immediately agreed, as the subject of this series impressed me a lot.” Offering her reaction, Priya said, “This is your story as well as my story. In fact, it is the story of all those who believe in marriage as an institution. It is the story of a married couple Saket and Jui, who keep on making adjustments their married life, besides loving each other intensely. “
The web series will be aired from 16th July 2019 on MX Player.

Shivani Ghatge and Kiran Dhane to make debut in Marathi film ‘Palshichi PT’
Having played the important role of Suman kaki in the TV serial ‘Lagi Ra Jhala Ji’ Shivani Ghatge will be making her debut in Marathi films through forthcoming Marathi film ‘Palshichi PT’ directed by Dhondiba Balu Karande. She has found an important role of a School Principal in this film. And the central role of ‘Bhagi’ in this film is performed by Shivani Ghatge’s co artiste in the same serial Kiran Dhane, who is presently performing lead central role of Awnee in Sony Marathi’s popular serial ‘Ek Hoti Rajkanya’ In ‘Lagira Jhala Ji’ Kiran had played the character of Jayashree.
This is a big coincidence, where two artistes from the same serial have found two important roles in the same film. Rahul Magdum is also another important artiste in this film. Speaking about her role Shivani Ghatge said that she is grateful to director Karande, who spotted the talent in her and found her suitable to play the role of a committed Principal who believed in creating promising students with bright future. “It was a difficult role, but the director made it easy for me, with proper guidance.” She added.
‘Palshichi PT’ has already invited attention at various national and international film festivals and is now getting ready for release all over Maharashtra on 23rd August 2019.
