Sanjay Jadhav’s ‘Luckee’ succeeds in competition
Last week eight Marathi films were released including Sanjay Jadhav‘s ‘Luckee‘ and Mahesh Manjrekar‘s ‘Bhai-2‘. And this situation had put our regular Marathi film goers in a dilemma, as to which film to watch. No matter, these films were based on different subjects, the one which invited the attention of youngsters was Sanjay Jadhav’s total entertaining formula film ‘Luckee‘, which was released on Thursday 7th February, instead of Friday. And this helped the film to find ‘word of mouth’ publicity among young viewers.
Speaking about ‘Luckee‘s success, producer Suraj Singh says, “I am happy that my film which is based on youngsters, is more appreciated by college going students. While the exhibitors feel that the youngsters liked the film, because they felt that lead pair in this film perfectly fitted into the requirement of collegians“. Deepti Sati who plays the lead actress in the film is very happy that the film has been released with sub titles, which attracted non Marathi viewers. Abhay Mahajan , the lead actor of this film is glad that he represented today’s youth through this film. Now, let us watch and see how the film progresses further at the box office.

‘Bhaai – Part 2′ offers more interesting happenings in legend’s life

Last month we saw very good response received by the film ‘Bhaai – Vyakti Ki Valli’ a biopic on Maharashtra’s beloved personality late P. L. Deshpande. Now, ‘Bhaai – Vyakti Ki Valli- Uttarardha’ (Bhaai – Part 2) which covers more events which had taken place in the later part of the life of legendary writer- actor- director, has been released along with seven other Marathi films this week. But, this film stands tall, because it goes on to show more interesting happenings in the life of ‘Pu La’ while interacting with many more prominent personalities of Maharashtra. In this second part, we find the second innings of P. L. Deshpande and hence we find Sagar Deshmukh and Irawati Harshe Maydeo shown in their 50+ age with more communication happening between them.
The characters of Bhimsen Joshi, Vasantrao Deshpande, Hirabai along with P.L find more scope sharing their company with Kumar Gandharva ( Played by Swanand Kirkire) during his last days. The classical songs rendered by the trio to make happy their ailing friend is a real treat for music lovers. ‘Bhaai – Part 2′ fails to appeal in the first half but takes off well in the second half with lots of happenings which appeal the audience.
The scenes presenting Pu.La’s involvement in social work have been cleverly shown with his involvement through financial help to Dr. Anil Avchat’s ‘Muktangan- a rehab centre for those addicted to excessive smoking and drinking and also in Baba Amte’s Anandvan centre for rehabilitation and empowerment of people suffering from leprosy. His popular song ‘Nach Re mora…’ in the company of little children from Anandvan has been picturised very well.
The film has also shown the straight forward views expressed by Pu La on the functioning style of politicians of his time. The controversy arising after ‘Pu La’s critical speech read out by his wife while he was conferred with a prestigious award in presence of then Maharashtra C.M. Manohar Joshi, is also part of this film. There is also another scene where he warns Janata Party’s newly elected MP( Portrayed by Bharat Ganeshpure) shows his fearless nature.
To generate some humour the film also presents Girish Kulkarni as Barkya a childhood neighbourhood friend of PU La, who meets him coincidentally, revealing his present identity. There is also a humour filled scene showing Pu La directing Satish Dubhashi and Bhakti Barve during rehearsals of his super hit play ‘Tee Phulrani’. Actress Pooja Sawant makes a surprise appearance as Jaymala Shiledar in a scene while presenting a classical play. In the same scene we witness sarcastic remarks made by the character of Vijay Tendulkar about this play.
Not to forget the best performances by all the artistes. The only drawback of this Part 2 is for not presenting the screenplay in first half that well as compared to second half. But, certainly a worth watch film for all those admirers of Pu La the great.
Savaniee Ravindra gifts Tamil Song to her fans for Valentine’s day
Valentine’s day is just few days away. And therefore, Savaniee Ravindra is ready to gift her new Tamil song to her fans on this occasion. The romantic song ‘Naan Sollava‘ which means ‘Should I tell you something‘ is written by Satishkant on the music of Shubhankar Shembekar , who has also rendered his voice in the song with Savaniee. This is the first song in the series ‘Savaniee Originals‘.
It may be recalled that in the past Savaniee has rendered her voice for many Tamil film songs and ‘Imai‘ and ‘Kutal‘ are two successful film. She has also released popular ‘singles’ like ‘Vilavin Salaigalli‘, ‘Katril Idhgal‘, ‘Uire Uire‘ etc. Speaking about ‘Naan Sollava‘ Savaniee says, “I have many admirers in south. For the past several days my Tamil speaking fans wanted me to sing original Tamil song and I have fulfilled their wish with this romantic song. Highlight of this song is that the music for this song was arranged by Tamil musicians and therefore it has received original Tamil flavour.“

Will 8th February prove suicidal day for Marathi films ?
Till now, we have witnessed five to six Marathi films released on the same day. Only last week we saw the release of four films simultaneously and saw the results. Now, coming Friday Marathi films will be creating a new record of simultaneous releases, with about 9 films selecting 8th February 2019, as their date of release. The names of these films are, ‘Aasud‘, ‘Bhai-2‘, ‘Dahavi‘, ‘Dhadpad‘, ‘Luckee‘, ‘Premrang‘, ‘Premwaari‘, ‘Readymix‘ & ‘Unadmasti‘ . And, this has invited critical reactions from Marathi film lovers. Many of them have questioned these film makers on social networking media.
One such critical reaction has come from one of the media person, whose message has become viral on social networking. He has called it suicidal or #Loot. “Neither does the producer understand nor do the distributors of these films or marketing and PR guys advice the producers the right thing to do,” it reads. And this certainly makes everybody think seriously on this issue. There should be proper understanding among such film makers. How do they expect the audience to watch their film, by keeping a wide choice? If this continues, it will certainly put the audience into a dilemma and there is a possibility that they may prefer to watch such films on television at a later date.

‘वर्तुळ‘ या मालिकेत तसं पाहता मीनाक्षीने तिच्या भूतकाळातील काही गोष्टी तिच्या मनात दडवून ठेवल्या होत्या मात्र आता तिने तीच आयुष्य मोबाईल मध्ये रेकॉर्ड करून अभिजीत ला पाठवले आहे. पण अजूनही अभिजीत ने तो ऑडिओ ऐकला नाही आहे . या लग्नात काही भयंकर घडेल का ? अभिजीत सोबत निर्माण झालेल्या विश्वासाच्या नात्याला मिनाक्षीच्या भूतकाळाने तडा जाणार का? त्यांचं नातं टिकून राहणार का? असे असंख्य प्रश्न सध्या प्रेक्षकांच्या मनात उठत आहेत .

Renowned Marathi actor Ramesh Bhatkar is no more
Renowned Marathi stage-television and film actor Ramesh Bhatkar who also acted in Hindi serials and films is no more. He was 70. He breathed his last today evening at Elizabeth Hospital, Malbar Hill, Mumbai, where he was being treated for lung cancer. The youngest son of legendary music director & composer Vasudev alias Snehal Bhatkar, he had an artistic background from his early college days and even took active part in swimming for his college team besides playing Kho Kho at Vijay Club , Dadar.
Ramesh’s acting debut in films was through ‘Chandoba Chandoba Bhaglaas ka’ (1978) followed by AshtaVinayak (1978), Duniya Kari Salam, Maaherchi Manasa, Aapli Maanasa and not to forget his memorable performance in lead role along with Alka Kubal through super hit film ‘Maherchi Saadi’ (1991). He also played a groom in the film Lek Chalali Sasarla. Since then, Ramesh had performed in 90 films including few Hindi films. He also had an opportunity to play the lead role in legendary Hindi film maker Kidar Sharma in his film ‘Saheme Hue Sitare’.
But, more than the films, Ramesh Bhatkar became more popular through his prosperous television career, which began with Hello Inspector (1990) and Damini (Marathi) on DoorDarshan followed by Commander (1992) on Zee TV, and Teesra Dola (1998) on DD2. He also appeared in Haddapaar, Bandini, Yugandhara. Marathi Theatre was Ramesh Bhatkar’s first love, having performed prominent lead roles in many plays. He played a lead role in ‘Ashroonchi Zaali Phule’ (1975) which ran in the Marathi theatre industry for many years. With his sad demise, Marathi entertainment industry has lost a talented actor.
His funeral will take place around 9.30 pm today at Shivaji Park Crematorium.
First poster of Sai Tamhankar’s film ‘Pondicherry’ released
Sai Tamhankar has begun shooting of her forthcoming film ‘Pondicherry‘ at Pondicherry from 1st February 2019. On the first day itself the first poster of this film was released in which we find black and white look of Sai Tamhankar, which is without make up. And therefore, there is a lot of curiosity among Sai’s fans, as this film will be shot with I Phone and in this film Sai will be working without make up.
Speaking about this film, Sai Tamhankar says, “This is the first film which is being shot on I Phone and my look is very natural in this film, as there is no make up and no hairstyle. The entire film is being shot in Pondicherry and I am enjoying every moment during this process, which is like attending a workshop. I feel that every actress should experience working in such a film, where she gets a chance to come out of her comfort zone and attempt something different.”
By the way, after ‘Vazandar‘ this is the second film Sai Tamhankar is doing with film maker Sachin Kundalkar.
